You probably never visited the IRC channel.

Dev never left, join #rubycoin.org and have a chat

Hey I have not been following things for a while, just came on here and got the newest wallet (2.0.0.0) straight from rubycoin.org. After installing, when I try to run it, it says "Warning: Error reading wallet.dat! All keys read correctly, but transaction data or address book entries might be missing or incorrect." When I click ok, I get a windows error a couple seconds later saying the rubycoin qt exe has stopped working. The wallet never loads. Help?

So let me get this straight. I supported this coin from day 1 - helped promote the first launch, then after that failed miserably helped promote the relaunch, mined despite all kinds of issues in the beginning, wrote an article about it, and held onto my coins even as they plummeted in value.

Then I come back a few months later and it's like well we decided to just pull some shit and if you weren't around you missed the boat and your coins are now worthless?

Suck a donkey dick. This kind of nonsense is exactly what no one takes altcoins seriously and bitcoin is hovering at around $300. Every time crypto starts to take off, some pimple-faced internet pirates rob everyone else blind and then the whole general public wants nothing to do with crypto.

OK, so I have 1000 coins so I guess that means I don't get anything?

Even small holders will stake, just not as frequently. Hover over the lightning bolt on the bottom left to get a staking estimate. You can hang out on our IRC channel to get more, I tip every day.

Thanks. I haven't seen anything since 12/13, so it's why I'm asking. I just moved 11k into the wallet so I can stake more, hopefully.

Just do not forget to unlock your wallet for staking.

dogechode I feel for ya, it would've been nice to have an automatic email set-up that sent out pings when there was emergency action to take like this (but ask yourself, even if that existed, would you have signed up and used it?). From a personal-responsibility standpoint coins, including bitcoin and especially any altcoins, are still in the wild-west phase. Consider people losing millions in MtGox or throwing away hard drives with 1000 bitcoin back when it was worth $0.00001 or something like that, losing passwords, or the like. It's just one of those things if you have a sizeable balance of any coin to make it a point of regular investment maintenance to check in on it from time to time.

If you dont have encrypted so do nothing. After a few sec/mins the small thunderbolt  down on the left corner should lights up and when you move on it youll get all information about your staking (its changing in time)

Thanks for the info. I think I know what I'm doing wrong: the wallet has to actually be open to receive a stake I bet (?)

For those of us that have been screwed out of our coins, kassado told me about 3-4 weeks ago in irc that he will be making a page/app to swap between the old coins and the new, and to keep an eye on this thread for details.

Let's see if he keeps his word.

I did some research into possible replacement options, but none of them are viable, so unfortunately it's not going to happen.

LOL, you have millions of coins (according to you, stated in the irc channel many months ago), but none of the options are "viable."... Mmm hmm. More like unwilling, and selfish. Users who've been screwed by you wouldn't be in this position if you had a longer exchange than 1 month, and a recourse for those that missed the very short window. That's extremely poor planning, and shows a lack of caring about your userbase. Many of the people who've been screwed were helping the coin since day 1. I chose to keep my ruby because I believed in the dev to do the right thing for the coin and its users.

In the channel I asked you about getting my coins back, and you offered to give me about 65% of their value back on the new block chain. Now it's not viable to help people out.

This should be a warning for any holders moving forward. If I still had my coins I'd GTFO after reading this crap.

edit: spelling / a word
