Why do older people like investing in Gold/Silver?

I'm not one who would invest in precious metals, but I have noticed that a good amount of the older generations are pretty keen in investing in these metals. They see it as a way to bet against the market, and a security that will always be safe -- even in the times of a market downturn/country failure as a whole.

I personally wouldn't even want to buy these metals in those events, as I don't see the reason to. I'd rather invest in securities that go up when the market shits itself (Payroll lending companies and so on and so forth)

Does anyone here know the reason behind people loving precious metals?

Seems more superstitious than anything else. There is a perception that gold holds value well, but this is only true over very long periods of time, a minimum of several decades. In shorter periods of time, gold experiences a lot of volatility; often losing 10% or more in a year is not uncommon.  So people who are holding gold when they're very old because they want to "guarantee" that the value is going to be there if they need it are actually acting irrationally, because there's a high degree of risk year-to-year that gold will experience significant depreciation when you need to access that wealth. These year-to-year variations tend to smooth out over decades so that gold is stable over long periods of time, but not so much in short periods of time.

Basically it's because of the concept of security. They feel more secure in investing those metals (that you are referring to) rather than investing in cryptos. Besides, you already mentioned earlier that whether the market is in good state or not that will not affect the price of those things. We do have different mindsets here in terms of business. For them it is way more better to invest in gold or other precious metals than investing in digital currency that they do not have knowledge with.

Although not all but older people don't follow technology so they don't know and don't understand bitcoin and they don't know how to use it. And therefore older people prefer to invest in precious metals.

Although not all but older people don't follow technology so they don't know and don't understand bitcoin and they don't know how to use it. And therefore older people prefer to invest in precious metals.

besides that they do this because of inheritance habits of their parents, so that they consider gold investment to be a safe investment and they do not need to bear the greatest risk to investment fund

Older people prefer to invest in gold or silver because on their day gold is the best investment and will be more profitable and many of them still believe that gold is the best because they don't know or don't want to invest in crypto currencies, where crypto currencies have a high risk and it is difficult for them to use it

They are afraid of risk and things are not visible. And gold and silver can be held in the hands easily. Electronic money can not be held and shows only smart numbers.

Because between us and they have gap about generation 
In fact, older people always have a lot of worries and I do not think they are interested in investing in Crypto because they are afraid because Crypto is so new and it's like a virtual thing, they can not see it and can not handle it. In addition, Bitcoin have a huge risk and it is not valued by any model and fears that this is a psychological game.
I have met many old people and I told them about Bitcoin, as a result I was scolded for daring to believe what the internet said, oh my gods @@

There are many factors that tends to older people choose gold and silver as an investment, one of this is generation gap because of this gap they didn't know what is the importance of cryptocurrency. For them precious metals are more valuable than crypto because gold and silver have their own stable value compared to bitcoin.  So that they didn't appreciate the value od all cryptocurrency at this generation.

The older people like investing to Gold/Silver because they believed into it just like how we believed in online currency that we have in our wallet. And I think one reason of the older people why they are still investing to Gold/Silver because of it's stability in the market unlike our online currency it always falls down abnd it is reall hard to recover it's value.

Maybe older people want the real form of investment. And that's why they are investing in gold and silver. but that is not their fault, but it is their best choice. So we don't need to ridicule them. Because for them gold and silver are great now. Gold in my opinion is a good investment.

maybe it is because of their mindset that gold is a valuable item, because of its rarity, they think that when have golds, they have rare items that can be sold with a high price one day, there are many forms of investments, which in my opinion is better and more profitable, but i think it is because of their mindset

I think that if they think so, they are right. Gold will be always in a demand. They remember that their parents tried to keep golden things at home as they knew that's the best investment.

Maybe because older people like to secure their future and even the future of their children and their'children's children and they thought that gold is forever and tyhat they can always have it with them and make profit becuase as gold gets older the bigger its profit.

Because they are still conservative-minded, only the visible ones they believe in, such as houses, land, gold, silver, and diamonds. And less concerned with technological developments, so that when they hear information about new types of investment, bitcoin for example, they doubt the security and reliability of the investment.

that's right the generation today are confident and willing to take risk just to be successful, but the elderly are being used to the method old investment back then. They have already tried and tested it and the good side about them is they are patient because it take many years before the value of gold go up

The older people can only invest in what they understand and can see with there eyes. Fewer ones among them can relate with internet as much we young one do. Cryptocurrency is highly risky than the gold and bitcoin inform of its volatility and most of them cant take the risk with all their life savings. Gold and silver price are well predictable than in cryptocurrency. I know some cryto ethusaist will be old and will find it harder to convince their fellow colleagues on investment in the space.

I think it's because of the price of gold is not much change since ages. That's why older people think it's more safety to invest your money in gold/silver. Also the demand of gold always high and many people still buy gold. Older people thinks gold is more safer than investing on cryptocurrency, you can even see the crypto market is get rekt right now.

Yes because gold and silver cannot depreciated like other jewels that cannot be keep for more years.Like me I also want to collect gold jewelries It makes me beautiful when I wear it.But its value stay longer for more years it cannot be diminished.

I think investing in gold/silver less risk. people use to invest in them for centuries. so the bond is strong. that's why specially older people like gold and silver. Old dogs rarely bark because they have experience.

I think they see these as the real asset that do not depreciate with time, so they feel more secure about it. And their generation is use to the gold and silver as been the real valuable asset of security.

The generation is pne pf the greatest factor. They tend to believe on what they seen as there generation is. They are not into believing technology because they believe they can live without it. But the world changes. Everything changes. But they can not really adopt the change that is why they are still on the old process of investing. But they need to see the positive effect and the potential of crypto currency.

I think most of the people who still prefer to invest on gold, silvers, and metal accessories is the old one who are not yet introduced well to digital ways of doing things.. Let them be as time pass by they will also come to know about crypto little by little
