Hydro-Québec Sets Out Clear Vision for Crypto Mining Future

Quebec, now becoming fast becoming North America’s mining hub due to its cheap energy prices, is under pressure to clarify exactly what Hydro-Quebec has planned for the province’s future; a recent interview with the public utility reveals some of the misconceptions and truths behind recent public criticism.
Much of the criticism has come from the non-mining majority, who are concerned about crypto mining activities increasing power costs and small mining operations, resulting in new requests from crypto miners to operate being temporarily suspended, pending the results of a moratorium.

I hope you find the videos educational, and I will always be checking in to answer any questions, comments, or critiques.

To start, here is a video about hyperbitcoinization, an optimistic way to start this thread  Smiley

Hyperbitcoinization: The End Of Fiat Currency, $100M Bitcoin?

Hyperbitcoinization is defined Bitcoin commentator ObiWan Kenobit as “a theoretical state wherein Bitcoin displaces legacy currencies and becomes the dominant if not only method to exchange value”. Hyperbitcoinization was first discussed by Nakamoto Institute founder Daniel Kraswisz in 2014, and ObiWan Kenobit thinks it could lead to Bitcoin prices as high as USD 100 million per coin.

A lot of news about bitcoin and a lot talk about its assurance as to how long will it be used by the people. We all know bitcoin is still here because there are lot of people supporting it. If each of the country will ban bitcoin then I think that will be its end. But I do hope it will not happen.

VanEck’s Gabor Gurbacs Considers Bitcoin Digital Gold

Director of digital asset strategies at VanEck, Gabor Gurbacs, considers Bitcoin to be a safe haven investment like gold and calls Bitcoin, digital gold. He suggests that investors who typically buy gold might diversify and buy Bitcoin, and perhaps 5-10% of the USD 7 trillion invested in the gold market may transfer over to the leading cryptocurrency. This would increase Bitcoin’s value by hundreds of percent to USD 28,000-48,000 since the current Bitcoin market cap is USD 128 billion and 5-10% of the gold is USD 350-700 billion.

HashFlare Cloud Mining Service Terminates All Bitcoin Mining Contracts

HashFlare was one of the most popular services offering Bitcoin cloud mining until they abruptly terminated all Bitcoin mining contracts on 20 July 2018. Apparently, there is a clause in their terms of service that if maintenance and electricity fees become higher than mining revenue then they have the right to permanently terminate mining contracts. HashFlare claims that as of 18 July 2018, Bitcoin mining had been unprofitable for 28 consecutive days and they began disabling SHA-256 mining hardware on that day. And now, they are claiming that all of their mining equipment is shutoff and obsolete for the time being.

BitMEX CEO Calling For Extreme Bitcoin Price Volatility During 2nd Half Of 2018

Arthur Hayes, the CEO of the Bitcoin Mercantile Exchange (BitMEX) which is recording billions of dollars in daily trading volume, thinks there will be extreme volatility in the Bitcoin market during the rest of 2018. He believes that the July 2018 Bitcoin rally which started with a price rise from USD 6,200 to USD 7,500 will be similar to the April-May 2018 rally where Bitcoin prices rose from USD 6,500 to USD 10,000. He says this is a strong rally with good volume and Bitcoin’s price could rise to the USD 8,000-10,000 range, but thinks Bitcoin will crash after that. Arthur Hayes says, “I would like to see us test USD 5,000 to really see if we put a bottom in”.

Facebook Partially Reverses Crypto Ads Blanket Ban, Whitelists Coinbase
