I started practicing cigarettes since I was 9 years old. Regular smoking starts from the age of 12. Now I am 26 years old, I'm trying hard to give up smoking, but can not do  not? Can someone give me some good advice to quit smoking?
O my gosh!! You are practicing cigarettes from when you were only 9 years old!!! Seriously?   Huh I'm sure, then it's already a part & parcel in your life. Well it's not possible to quit it easily. Try to quit 2/3 Ciggarate in a week. I think thus you can control yourself and easily quit Ciggarate

Find a reason to quit. Let me share to you the lovestory of my friend. She has an asthma but she fall in love with the guy who is addicted to smoke. The guy also fall for my friend and try courting my friend. Now to break the gap between them, the boy instantly stopped smoking just to prove the love for her. Up to now, they are still together.

I totally agree! It ain't rocket science, therefore, just do it. And for whatever reason that you say not to stop or quit, it's really only a matter of perspective regarding what's really more important in one's life at a certain point in time.

I don't smoke so i don't k iw how does it feels quitting smoke. But as i can see, you have to slowly cut the number of cigar you consume everyday then do it until you consume only a single cigar a week and do it untill you're not craving for it.

To lessen the consume of cigarette you need an alternative to not crave for it, so a chewing gum can help to not crave, though it wont be easy for others who smoke for long period already. Discipline is needed here and determination to overcome the addiction on cigarettes.

In some country, it is normal to see a child smoke, and they took their daddy cigarettes Grin

We don't know why their parents allow them to smoke, but hm maybe it's because their habit in that society, so we will feel that it is strange and weird to see a child less than 10 years old are smoke in front of adult people.

I think the best way still is not to stop totally, but to gradually lessen your intake. say for example you are consuming 20 sticks a day, make it a point to lessen it to 5 sticks, but do not quit cause it can have a negative effect in the long run.

good sentence: "only you can motivate yourself"...

I totally agree! Because real change only happens from within us and it will only move the body forward (once the mind is willing) to achieve that same goal.
Sometimes there are situation that we are being motivated by others, specially those People that has been desperately wanted to quit while they find no reason after that.

I have a friend that decided to quit when he Met a person that Lose His voice because of smoking.

though i cannot make Him follow me when i quit years back.

You need to have the conviction to be able to stay away from smoking, so if you do not have the conviction and the will, you will not be able to get away from it and you can use some medications that help to get away from it.

I agree. If you want it enough, you can do it yourself.
IF you don't want it enough, then you can't do it anywhere.

I know one person, who quit smoking because of love.

They say if you stop some habit for at least 21 days you don't need it anymore so I guess for the first step try to stop it on the first 21 days and then buy yourself a gift for your achievement  Smiley

'as long as there is an intention there will be a way'...
Your friend quit smoking because he met a person who lost his voice because smoking was the result of an intention that he had wanted to do for a long time that is to quit smoking. congratulations to your friend for being lucky to have successfully quit smoking.

Make a plan to quit smoking and follow it.
Get some stop smoking support.
You can also make some non-smoking Friends, they will help you to stay away from it.

I know it's hard, nicotine addiction sucks. You could try substituting with vape (ecig), or try those nicotine patches...

If you don't decide that you do not need it anymore, then the magic pill won't help.
THIS. It's more psychological than scientifical. Just like any other addiction (to varying degrees, obvioulsy)

Let you know, more than 8-10 million people deaths each year in the whole world caused by smoking. So If you want to live with your family you have to quit smoking but its not so easy to quit it on one day; it is a long journey. You can select a time, try not to smoking then. Besides medication or having therapy can be applied to give up smoking.

My suggestion is:

- find a motivation = why you want stop smoking?
- reduce the amount of cigarette smoked, trying to reach a very low amount daily (around 2-5)
- set up a date for quitting (likewise one year/next month etc)
- if you have a strong cough DON'T smoke. Human body will craving for nicotine just in the few weeks/days. In this manner you have gained some days of smoking free despite having all negative effect related abstinence.
- if you are without cigarettes DON'T buy it. Close yourself at home (if you can) or use a substitute for few days like nicotine chewing gum.
- make sport (running is the best) when you are not smoking (it helps to clear the lung and meanwhile you can expel more nicotine with your sweat).

I started practicing cigarettes since I was 9 years old. Regular smoking starts from the age of 12. Now I am 26 years old, I'm trying hard to give up smoking, but can not do  not? Can someone give me some good advice to quit smoking?

I used to be a smoker. I just kept on making myself busy with different things like gaming and work. I just woke up one day that I don't like smoking anymore.

That is a really long period of time. Did you try vaping? You can regulate the amount of nicotine in it.
