I think the formula is not so seriously difficult, most likely based on the ratio of max number of coins.

yes it is dead and have no value right now. only investments on top coins right now could be worth but only if market go up and stable.
price was upto 100$ and now its almost 90$ according to coinmarketcap. i think in coming days if btc rise then price of LTC  could again go upto 100$
right now crypto is facing biggest challenges. hopefully crypto will go through this easily.
