i think it will be depends on what country you belong, here in us, the climate and the electricity rate is so high, so definitely i don't think mining will be good to start here until trading more risky yet it's vert convenient so i will go for trading.

if you have enough capital to invest and also mine coins then you can try them both and you will know which one is more profitable among the two things, but if you have the capital for one of them, I recommend trading (investment), provided you have know how to invest, and if you have gotten a profit there you can try to make your own mining at home

In mining you will need to set up rigs and it is expensive and the parts might be broken because of overuse then you need to buy another parts and electricity is not free. In trading you will need to learn complicated patterns but if you will learn all of it you will become a millionaire someday.

Mining is a one time investment you should invest on mining platform this will make profit and you do not take may effort in this moment. But trading is little risky investment because you should always monitor the market then only you will earn good profit in this platform.
