Bitcoin should be compared to fiat , not to gold.  These gold comparisons drive me crazy, how on earth is a digital currency similar to a precious metal?

But you can see mostly people compare bitcoin with gold.
No doubt, Bitcoin has comparison with fiat currency but it is like gold on internet. It is not harmful, if we compare bitcoin with gold.
We call bitcoin gold in this sense that bitcoin is still expensive like a gold and in future it will be more.
Even Bitcoin has no appearance then how could we compare it with fiat?
Because we think it than same think is here with gold and bitcoin.

I am wonder why people keep comparing bitcoin with gold. Both have different feature and both have different potential. Even if bitcoin surpass the gold people still using them. Not every one is aware about bitcoin that's the reason people use Gold. Bitcoin don't exist physically  but GOLD does. That's why even the price goes up people will still believe in gold and invest on it

  I think they are not comparing it but people just want know how profit worthy and how safe bitcoin is, gold is an old times investment, gold use to increase in price but cryptocurrency increases very fast as compare to the gold, it has huge scope in market and more people gets attracted to it for better profit making strategy.

Bitcoin gets appreciated in digital form while gold gets appreciation in physical form. They are like in two different category. They dominate on where they are now. Maybe btc is struggling for now but in the future it will perform just like gold. I really don't see them competing each other.

It,s true, we can not compare bitcoin and gold. Both  things are most valuable. Bitcoin is the number one currency. Without Bitcoin we can not imagine crypto. Gold is the most expensive metal. It has also a value. So both are different each other. Over passing  is not the right thing. Bitcoin will grow like Bitcoin, Gold will grow like Gold. Both are very valuable .

For me as well crypto currency does not have any physical presence and bitcoin can be kept in wallet which is directly connected to internet, nothing can take your investment away you can keep it safe, but having gold at home is pretty dangerous anyone can rob your house and take your all gold, one more things gold has really low profiting ability,

if your parameter is price, the currenct price of bitcoin is higher than gold, if your parameter is volume trading the bitcoin volume is higher too.

I have another thought. I think btc will be crossed by other currencies in the future. Currently btc system is facing many disadvantages:
+Poor personal security (when you lose the key you have absolutely no way to get back or into your account)

you can use Xapo wallet, coinbase wallet, or other wallet service where you can reset password if you forget it.

+ Speed of transaction processing and difficulties in upgrading.

its fast and free fee transaction if you send to other coinbase address/ account, or you can lightning network for real transction.

+Currently, whales are holding a large amount of btc so the price is completely dominated by the corporations

People might be selling and buying gold but they dont loose money  . they intend to do it because gold is useful in many ways  not just for investment  . they may buy gold ( the jewelry ones )  and use it as acesory for thier bodies . they may buy pure gold as an investment  .

If it's about surpassing the price of gold, Bitcoin has already done that.
In 2017 it was able to outpace the price of Gold per ounce. This happened during the bull run. But despite that, Bitcoin is still not a hedge asset. I wouldn't use it for such, cause it can't protect anyone from extreme fluctuation.

You are right but it is about crypto currency which has really high value in market, people are agree to invest, gold and all other investment has become just a name, moreover bitcoin got biggest investment of the year award now, so people are not interested to invest in gold if they are having an opportunity to invest in bitcoin at safe and long lasting profit.
