Most of the time we fail to make profit when market drop. But when a market is already dropped than we have a good chance for make profit. Of course I tell this about day trading. For long term it is totally impossible to make profit from a dropping market. Every hour all market has a drop and up movement though it is little but sure you can find and catch the time when you need to buy and when you need to sell. Thus you can make profit from a dropping market indeed.

Honestly, I can't produce income when the market goes down, the panic that hits is too large, so I can't do anything, just patiently see the value keep decreasing

This is not a hard and fast rule that when the market fails, the profits simply vanishes. For example if your investment in Bitcoin dates back to the year 2010, when the price was just few dollars and if you still hold that portfolio, you might be better off selling these coins and will earn good money in the market even if people think the market is down. Even if you buy low and hold till the price goes high, you might earn some handsome money.

You probably mean "traders", not "investors". Investors don't trade actively and hold their bags long-term. Keeping fiat and playing dad cat bounces might be the way to go, btw

Maybe we can't because the market is dropped and expectedly that you may only get a little profit or earnings since you can't sell your coin with a high value. Some of us are grabbing this moment as opportunity to buy more coins to be their investment and some also are choose to sell their coins because they can't even wait to sell their coins or simply because they need to sell it.
