I think you're right, at the moment. We shouldn't forget that the main goal of bitcoin anyway is another one, it's supposed to change to way we think about what money is forever, so it's much deeper than an investment. But this is, hopefully, the future, at the moment it's just speculation.

I agreed with your definition of what investment is. To add to your definition we can also called it an Assets since there is probable of future inflow of economic benefits. Many who are investing or buying bitcoin today are buying it with mind to realize profits in the near future.

I think BTC is like a currency in general, where someone can make bitcoin an investment or not. In my opinion, it is only truly immovable physical property that has investment properties such as land, houses, etc. So in my opinion, bitcoin depends on the wearer just wants to use it as an investment or not.
