One thing I do not like about Execoin is that devs seem to sometimes forget to do very basic stuff, like putting a link to the wallet on the coins website! Embarrassed
This coin needs more development work,community activity and people who actually intend to use it as a coin, right now its just a mining extension of Vert.

Still looks like you like EXEcoin so much so you did bother to register a new user and share your impressions with us. Smiley
Of course newer coins inherit something from their predecessors. The same did Vertcoin by the way.

Dev team is definitely reading this chain and I'm pretty sure they are constantly looking for new ideas on how to increase usage of the coin.

Can you please tell us what community activity do you have in mind?

I am a miner/investor for both VTC and EXE and I think they both have a bright future. But if you don't see some major differences between dev & community support let me point out a few.
There are a lot of directions the EXE community and devs can go in promoting this coin moving forward.

Although VTC is only 47 days older than EXE, Reddit subscribers for VTC are currently 4380 and only 149 for EXE.
In addition VTC has several community related sites:

A "crowdfunding" style site that promotes VTC related projects
http://vertcoinmarket.com/

Current ticker/discussion links/etc
http://vtcboard.com/

VTC Forum... separate from this bitcointalk thread (although it appears to be down for maintenance this morning)
http://vertcoinforum.com/

VTC news archive site
http[Suspicious link removed] can do this and more- but it takes a lot of people to get involved and help raise the bar.

After things settle down for me and now that people are looking to get involved all these things will come. Either from me or some other contributor. I am working on closing out other project related execoin things for now but the next is the crowdfunding and a (surprise) site. :-)
The ticker/discussion links will come as well once Cryptsy hits.

Thanks- great to hear. I know it just requires patience and increased support from everyone. Too many people get hung up on idea of making a quick return and moving on to the next coin with a lot of attention. I like to look at least 1-2 years down the road. (but even then, there is no guarantee!) Grin

If your a windows 7 user, its in Appdata>Roaming, It will be called 'Execoin' .You will need to make a .conf file ( a text document that is file named 'Execoin.conf' & saved as 'All types'

An example conf file would look like this: ( I could not find a p2p port.. so the one in the example below is not correct. All info was taken from PG 1 OP ANN for the coin)

listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pw
rpcport=9988
p2pport=15555
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
addnode=95.85.26.197
addnode=107.170.240.30
addnode=162.243.136.142
addnode=128.199.233.179
addnode=198.211.100.64
addnode=107.170.12.174
addnode=188.226.130.205
addnode=128.199.234.28
addnode=95.85.39.247
addnode=192.99.4.189
addnode=162.243.103.75
addnode=192.241.152.198
addnode=107.170.79.10
addnode=37.139.3.206
addnode=188.226.169.188
addnode=107.170.227.175
addnode=128.199.221.109
addnode=107.170.227.176
addnode=188.226.169.189
addnode=192.241.128.215
addnode=107.170.79.12

User name can be anything you want, same with password

What you need to be sure is 100% correct is the EXE coins RPC port & EXE coin Nodes. ( the info in above example is from the PG 1 OP ANN )

Once you have your conf file created with the appropriate data, and it is placed i the Execoin appdata folder,  you need to turn your miner to the 'rpcconnect:rpcport' for the url, rpc user is the user name, and rpcpassword is the password you chose.

After that is configured, you need to run the wallet and let it fully sync.

Once it is fully synced, you can then solomine to the wallet.

When you are solomining, due to the fast block times, you will frequently see some text on your miner to the affect of 'new block found on network', that DOES NOT mean you found that block. When YOU find a block.. it will say ( as an example ) CPU 0 found New Block for Pool!

At the current difficulty, solomining may be less productive than other methods, unless you have lots of Hash to compete with the Network Hash.

Good luck

First off all, you want to get the wallet up and running...

Make sure you download the correct wallet for your system. Extract it to a place you will remember(Your desktop?)

Next you want to open the wallet for your system, and let it sync with the network. When it is ready, close the wallet by going to File -> Exit/Quit or use the shortcut Ctrl+Q.

You have succeeded in setting up your wallet.

Now lets mine.

Create your own execoin.conf (make a new text document and change the ".txt" to ".conf" with the following information:
(may need to show file extensions)

daemon=1
server=1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=password
rpcport = 9988

Save it and depending on your platform, you move the file to one of the following folders:

Windows:

Go to your "Computer" folder and in the address bar, you type %appdata%. You will find a folder with the name "EXECoin". Move execoin.conf here.

OSX:

Go to finder, and in Go menu, you hold the alt/option button, you will see that there is a new location called "Library". Click it. You will find a folder called "Application-Support", open it and find the folder "exeCoin". Move execoin.conf here

Linux:

Go to your home folder, and select the option "Show hidden folders and files", you will see a .execoin folder. Move execoin.conf here.

Now you start your wallet again, and if you have done this correctly, you are ready to solo mine. Use Google to find a "Scrypt-Miner" for your platform, and point it to 127.0.0.1:9988

p2charity.com - p2pool for charity

execoin p2pool node now open!

So I was thinking of ways to help donate to those in need and considering I'm not rich by any means I decided to create p2charity.com. It has a list of p2pools where 50% of the fees will get donated to charity. The pool fee is only 1% but having been poor myself at one time I know every little bit counts. I will continue to donate as well so this will just supplement my donations. I also mine on my own pools so I'm contributing as well. Thanks for any support and happy mining.

imagine if no one dumped vert when it went to 12 bux. i bought .08 btc of vert and sold half for 1 btc though so I'm a small part of the crash .i think this will easily surge 5x its value. even if a whole bunch of us held our coins couldn't ppl just mine the crap out of it and then it would fall that way?

hi all,

Firstly I know nothing about mining and am an investor but trying to learn more and more as time goes by.

My question is with Scrypt asics coming and miners looking for alternate coins to mine such as Execoin, Ultracoin, Vertcoin, etc etc, what % of coins will see gains from this? 5% - 40%??

and When should we expect this to occur?

Your knowledge would be great to this computer novice.

what i mean is which coins will die from the introduction of scrypt asics - or which coins are effected negatively

Sadly we don't have a God himself here on the forum to answer your questions, mate.

I would love to know when the devs are going to start contacting online software retailers and see if they are interested in accepting a speculative and fitting crypto currency to sell their digitally distributed software i.e 'air' ie 'not much to stake for loss'...
So many, I'm not talking about Adobe or Steam. I'm talking about video encoding software, VPN subscriptions, independent video players, cheapy anti virus / GFX editing

It goes without saying, but these retailers should be offering jointly mass 10%+ discounts for execoin use, which of course puts it in demands and rises it up. As the incentive to the retailers I would be quite tempted to spend a lot of my exebag on software I always wanted but thought a bit pricey for convenience.

Come on devs...  Roll Eyes  make some calls send some e-mails?

Sorry if you already have!
