The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

There are scammers every where both in real life business and online business, it is in your place to be careful before investing in any business because it will be very difficult to retrieve your money when it is gone.

I think that if you have been engaged in crypto currency for at least one year, then at least once during this time you had to deal with scammers. Currently, there are too many such projects. Investing is dangerous. Unless you are 100 percent sure that the team that stands behind the project is real and professional. It seems to me that this should be regulated precisely at the level of legislative acts. And not one country but many states. Otherwise, we all will face this for a very long time.

This I find often when the ICO can buy a credible 5 * points easily. I've been tricked by a lot of scams and lost a little bit of ETH but in return I got the rutsra experience needed to participate in an ICO. Before joining I need to consider many things of that ICO such as WHITELIST, pp, ..

The only thing you could do is filing a lawsuit against them if you can afford the expenses and if they are within the same jurisdiction that can impose fraud laws on them, however, I doubt that anything would come out of this. Online, your investing is your own responsibility. Doing your part will enhance the chance of not getting scammed, though it won't prevent it entirely.

Great question.

(1) Use common sense...don't buy into deals that are too good to be true.

(2) Report the likely scams in the Scams and Accusations board

(3) Warn others if you've been the victim to a scam.

If we keep looking out for each other we'll all succeed.

We're watching a scam ICO on the forum here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4691540.msg44620103#msg44620103

With a bunch of shills posting it's a "great project" because they want to cash out the airdrop and bounty tokens.

It's 100% obvious that no ICO should change their whitepaper and protocol mid-ICO but since there are no rules or standards it's like the wild west for investors currently. Just don't invest in ANYTHING until all of money dries up for scammers to have any incentive to waste peoples time.

Its so hard to file lawsuits because those guys will go and hide. So we should be really careful about investing this days, those scammers are hard to detect and because they know they can hide (at least) from authorities because market is free and unregulated. Hope though that few who have been found guilty should spend jail time.

Scam was and will be wherever possible. What can we do with the scammers? Nothing, they are not so stupid that they could be caught (except for some). It's only in your power to look carefully where you invest money.

Scammers will be found all around and nothing could change the reality as everything is happening through the internet connectivity. We need to be cautious understanding the reality and get rid of scammers finding them. Very few has got the tendency to find the scammer from his conversation itself. It is good to report finding them, so that others too will get benefited.

If you have just fallen for a scam, you shouldn't feel embarrassed. It can happen to anyone. Scammers are constantly refining their scams to make them as effective as possible. They know what works and what doesn't. Victims of scams don't always report when they've been conned because they feel embarrassed for having fallen for a scam.It can be hard to bring scammers to justice because of the difficulties associated with tracking them down. Scammers often cover their tracks by using fake or stolen identities, coupled with anonymizing Internet services, spoofed e-mail addresses, and disposable phone numbers. however, here are some tips you have to know and do when being scammed;

File a Police Report

File a Fraud Victim Statement"(a.k.a Extended Fraud Alert) with the 3 Major Credit Bureaus; (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax)

Consider a "Security Freeze" of Your Credit Reports

Update Your Anti-malware Software and Scan Your Computer

Call Your Credit Card Company or Bank Immediately After You Realize That You've Been Scammed

i hope his few tips could help

Its difficult for people wanting to get into ICO'S, it is difficult to know what is
real and wgat is a scam, and the scammers know that. The trouble with naming
the scammers is that it can take a while to figure out what is a scam and it
means the scammers can make off with their reward.

The only way is to not get into any ICO's, play it safe but this would hurt the
legitimate orojects also.

The easiest way to recognize them is to do research. but first you should consult those people who have encountered such frauds. this can be very useful.

Do proper research on the ICO before you invest, and don't be too greedy for lucrative offer , it is better to afford what you can afford to reduce the risk

Unfortunately, ther is nt much that you or anyone else can do to scammers. Thing is, you have to be more watchful so as to not fall prey. The world is getting more corrupt by the day one has to be increasingly careful than before. I advcoe that you become watchful and check the credibility of ICO's you invest in

It is true. Nowadays, you can hardly distinguish which project is legit and which one is scam. Some are too smart making their drawing projects too realistic to the point of promising the heaven and earth to their investors. What to do with them, i think if we are ready to quit in cryptocurrency then we can also avoid this scam ICOs but to stop in crypto could also mean to stop dreaming.

SEC was going to take some actions against ICO scams but most of them are bypassing any possible anti-fraud actions by eliminating US investors. Whenever we talk about precautions of governments the word "precaution" perceives like a bad thing but it is very essential if we really care about public welfare.

Most of the ICO projects do have something to say. They are good and well planned. But the reason why they fall is they lack the needed manpower and resources to continue with their plans. Their teams is not working in the international level and maybe working just locally. We all know that while every ICO might be unique but since we are all dealing with money to invest in ICOs then every ICO is a direct competition to all existing projects whether the known ones nad even those whom others cobsidered as a scam. So only the good coins are left the rest becomes history.

It is too common in any investment so we cannot eliminate scam but we can reduce this.  If every person do have knowledge about investment and they are secure money, it can prevent scam.  When a concern person warn a businessman, it can also prevent scam.  It is up to you when you get scam but sometimes you cannot know it.  Investment was too risky because of some scammer.  Take note, if the investment was contain any impossible thing that you can gain money easily without any risk then don't take it.

True there has been so many of them that collect funds and run away. And nothing has been done to them. Investors are at receiving end. This is why the SEC is trying to cleanse all scams and uncertainties in crypto that brings fear, fud and scam elements.

At first i spent very low sums on a few projects which could be described as a scam, even while some of them were so funny/weird and my investment was so small, that it does not really matter for me. On the long run i learned how to watch out, which tricks can be used to prevent scammers and what are the usual hints. Not sure if i have to repeat them once again but having a working homepage, with real people, who can be googled, with real investors/adivors and a  real whitepaper/project map....usually makes the whole thing way more believable.

There are lot of scam projects everywhere in which they can use both fiat and crypto currencies platform. These projects are hard to detect that even professionals are become victims. Of course if these scammers will be caught then they should be put in jail by filling complaint against them but these will not reduce scammer so the best thing we can do is to double our effort to avoid them by making more reviews and checking the projects if they are legit or not.

Throughout 2018 this is indeed a lot of scams that occur in the crypto world, especially bounty Hunters or give away, we can avoid this if we are smarter in choosing a project given by some coin developers. There are some tips that I can give, to avoid fraud in working on projects.
1. must choose wisely the projects we can do
2. must know who gave the project, choose people who have often provided projects with good results.
3. calculate the income that will be given by the developer, this is important because for what we work if the payment is not appropriate. (in this case calculate the small amount of income earned)
4. looking for info about the coin / project, in what area? and whether many support the project.
this last addition,
5. keep track of info about the project.
maybe it's a little tips for the Bounty hunter / Give away, hopefully there is no fraud that befalls you.

I believe that scammers will always exists as long as people falling in their scams exists, since it's profitable for them.

How to get rid of scammers? - Educate the public in a big level. If you personally help one person learn it's a tiny bit less profit for them and for that you're already doing something to get rid of them. Not only talking about scam ICOs but also about any kind of existing scam.

They hurt the image of the good ICOs with valuable/useful projects behind them.

I ever fell to a scam ICO, it was very bad, even though my investment was small, but I felt a loss and that is my experience.

there is nothing we can do, unless we have to take preventive measures, so we don't fall back to the scam ICO.

Yes I do, you know sir I am actually joined at signature campaign last year, I think it is August. And when this bounty campaign already finished I'll wait for my token to be distributed and glad to say that the token was distributed but it almost 3 months of waiting. In contrast, sad to say because until I am waiting for the value of that token. Sad  I was thinking that, that campaign is a scammed  Huh

most of the projects in the bounty campaign are scams, I am very disappointed to see many bounty campaign projects that are scam, this is probably because the price of bitcoin is down, so many deceptive coins and coins are scam.

All We need is to be cautious, understanding the reality and get rid of scammers finding them. Very few has got the tendency to find the scammer from his conversation itself. It is good to report finding them, so that others can benefits.

I already several times got on scammers. And I think that it is difficult to fight against scammers. They are in all spheres and not only in the crypto currency. Therefore, you just have to accept this and more carefully approach the selection of ICO projects.

Just report what we can do with scammers and keep in mind that their actions and name or user accounts, the scammer has a lot inside crypto so we should take care of the lage. I do not know any other way to destroy them or to expel them out of the crypto and not to return.

Scammers are everywhere much more in this modern world that use inter network connection, those scammers are the one that wants instant money without being worked and use the innocent individual. I think its good to be very vigilant and studios on the ICO that we plan to invest because they are very hard to identify at the start but I think if only crypto currency have an agency to filter every new ICO then it will minimize those scammers.

scammers are everywhere and they are milking this technology as many investors has no knowledge about this technology. It's necessary to ask first to your friends for guidance if you don't know. Although it's difficult to identify a scam projects but once you have a doubt better to research more if it's a legit or not before investing your money.

There are scammers every where both in real life business and online business, it is in your place to be careful before investing in any business because it will be very difficult to retrieve your money when it is gone.

I don’t think they can be stopped unless reported but there are too many scammers for sure so what you should do is to prevent being scammed and think thrice before investing your asset. Learn how to research about the background and investigate about the thing your investing in.

In my opinion, in order not to deal with scammers, you need to carefully study the ICO and invest your funds only if you understand the purpose of the project and the team that works above it inspires confidence in you. If you invest without understanding, just by listening to someone's advice, then there is a high probability of losing your investment.

You must learn to avoid scammers like in any other area/industry. It is not a problem of ICO, it is the problem of people's greed and stupidity

the act of coin scamer can make a negative judgment on cryptocurrency. some time ago I have experienced a loss by scam coins, now, the more coins the scamer coins might say, 60 percent is a scam. in my opinion there must be a law that mediates and is able to ensnare him. Even some of my budding friends are traumatized after being exposed to scamer

Scammers should be reported and list their names to the scammers board so that people will be informed. And for me since scammers are everywhere, i should avoid them, i must be sensitive to their ways so that i may be able to identify them. so with all of us be very careful to scammers.

We cannot do anything about the scammers. Most of the ICO that I have joined in are scam and most of the investors who suggested to take them to court didn't have any success in doing so. Its a shame that there are projects like these who take advantage of the investors and go away unscathed.

I have experienced a lot of scams during following many ICOs bounty. It's very disappointing and harming many parties. To be jailed and paying compensation should be applied to the scammers.

there is nothing we can do because we don't know who they are and where they live. this is happening in many times, and we don't know how to detect the scammers because they are not showing the sign that they are scammers. we only know that they are scammers after the program is run or the program is ended, and they don't pay the participants. many of us have this experience, but we still join in other ico because I am sure that there still a good ico that is paying their participants.

We should be more careful when engaging on projects esp. when there is an investment involved. Do research first and make sure the people behind those is real and trustworthy. There is nothing we can do once we got scammed that's why investors choose to meet up when making a large investment accompanied by legal adviser or lawyer.

Just like what other said we can not do anything on them because we did not know them. For me the scammer here in bitcoin is the people that knows all the information here because they help first the beginner then when the right time comes that they get the chance to scam it they will do it.

I think there is nothing we can reallydo about the scammers. Everywhere if there is money involved, there are scammers. The sad thing in cryptocurrency is that there is no place you can complain to if you have been scammed so you just have to be careful.

Just do your due dilligence on every project you invest your money or time into. Check out the product they offer, if they have an MVP or not, their teams' expertise. Don't ever blindly invest your hard earned BTC. Wink
And overall have a good understanding of risk management and portfolio allocation. Hope this helps you identify potential scams.

We do nothing about them actually, though scammers is everywhere where the money is they're always there too. so, the better way things to

do always be careful in choosing and ico project, then instead do some research first before taking part in the project, so that we may not be a

victim by them in the end.

To be honest it's yes, I've been experienced scams many times and we have no something to do with that because so sad to say that it was true that as of now there's probably a lot of scams ICO's. However, even I've been experiencing a lot of it I'm still continuing participating to this because there still also some ICO's that is real and very worth it to participating.

The only way to diminish the amount of scams in this market is that those that are responsible for such scams to go to jail, many scammers feel that they are untouchable since they are using bitcoin and they are not giving any information about themselves since they are using fake pictures in the icos but we have seen some cases where the creators of scam icos went to jail.

But this is only going to happen in big cases, when it comes to small scams the truth is that those scammers are probably going to get away with it since it is going to be very costly to find them compared to the amount they scammed, I know that the justice system should not work like that but since their resources are limited the authorities will only have money to prosecute big cases.

I'm thankful that as of this time i still not experience any kind of scam in cryptoworld. Actually even in real world we can't avoid scammers or fraudster or hackers. Its all about money of course so these kind of people is natural. That's why we really need to be carefull on what ICO's or project were joining to avoid being victim with them. Make sure that the team that your joining is legit or well known or have a lot of experience, make a backround check. So you really need to be vigilant specially if were talking about money.

You have to be careful and analyze the project carefully, because some of them are serious and are working from below to reach a position in the market, before investing you have to evaluate it in great detail, there we will have greater chances of success.

I saw 70-80% ico are scam which are not reliable .they do smart work and making projects by invester and advisers and after not giving token ,making scami .what to do with them. Have you ever fallen in scams ? I am fallen some time .
It is very simple dealing with scammers. Once you have been able to establish that the project is a scam, publicize it on your different social media platforms. Warn the public about the project.

Before, when I am just a newbie in cryptocurrency world. I often participate in those HYIP because I can see that they are paying but later on, I was scammed big time that's why I just stop participating in those type of investment scheme because it would just end up badly. I was able to participate in some bounty scams too because I was attracted with the big payment to participants and then when they are near ICO, they would just disappear that's why I only participate now in campaigns that has escrow or a reputable manager. Those scammers should be in jail but then how can we do it when we do not even know who they are.

Great question.

(2) Report the likely scams in the Scams and Accusations board

(3) Warn others if you've been the victim to a scam.

If we keep looking out for each other we'll all succeed.

Yes i agree we must report it quickly to warn others. 'cause most ico Project nowadays has no good intention here in crypto world.  So much better to report it ASAP on Accusations board so that everyone can prevent scamming and loosing money on it.

it's very difficult to avoid that, because obviously, the ico is a scam or not at the end of the period. Did ico give a token or not? if only there were features to file claims against them, surely it would be very helpful, but I don't think that would be possible.

We cannot retrieve scammers because scammers are every where. It is better we must be carefull when we invest in cryptocurrency because even the online business their is a scammer. Every time we must be carefull wherever we are in this world.

scammers will always find a way to get your money. As an investor it is important that you be very careful about every deals/plans. do the due delience. look for the team, their profiles, their background, their project details, see the MVP, and think many times until you'resure about the project cause its your hard earned money.. and if you think someone is faking stuffs, raise the voice and spread the word to aware the commmunity.

Scammers are every where and now and they are always trying to hit us in everyway possible. I've been a victim of scams and I feel embarrassed but I think it can happen to everyone. It's hard to bring scammers to justice because of the difficulties to track them down. Now I am just always careful to do business with any stranger, I secure my computer and all to help prevent for future scams.

Scammers are just everywhere. They are so smart and very hard to trace. To simply avoid it, we must be wiser and knowledgeable in identifying about those phising site from legal site. Just be more carefull about your personal details especially keep our wallet as secured as possible. With money involved, people became greedy fooling such an innocent newbie in crypto.

In the digital world we cannot do anything to those scammers but to prevent and evaluate all the necessary things that can prove that it is legit and if you are already scammed I think we can do nothing about it, it already happened.

yes, we need to more selective to choose the project if we want to join as the investor and for the bounty campaign, we need to careful to select the campaign. but still, it is very difficult to know which project that will scam in the future because at the beginning of the project, they are gives a good progress in their project so many people believe with them and follow their project and finally, they invest their money. I hope that in the future, they can get caught in the beginning so we don't have to worry again.

There are really some icos that are scam, we canjot deny the fact that they are there and they cannot be crashed out. All we have to do is be more careful always. Check the background of the ico before you invest or join in their bounty campaigns. Too good to be true offers are somewhat suspicious, so be careful not to fall in their traps.

You could always post in their ANN thread how to contact the government regulators about their ICO, if it looks like a scam Smiley

I also agree that the choice of platform is an interesting decision. EOS is a faster and more dynamic platform, so let it be. Only future will tell how right it is.

Yes indeed and I totally agreed to what you have said! Getting in touch and partnered with EOS whose more dynanic than other Network, I think this will be one of the best and successful partnership I've ever see.
I also have the same opinion, for me personally, this cooperation with such a successful platform as EOS, is a great indicator and because of this inspires confidence in the gaming platform Tombola. It remains to wish the team success on this path and I expect access to major exchanges.
Ibe heard and read that Tombola made a change on their white paper. Changes from EOS to ERC20 has been done. Tombola needs to explain on what happened so that we can understand why change suddenly.

Yes they really should have done that. Selling tokens during ICO is main priority for the team though.

Regulator in Hong Kong can be contacted here: https://www.sfc.hk/web/EN/lodge-a-complaint/

They are cracking down on ICO's that are a problem in Hong Kong, would probably love to hear from anyone that thinks this is misleading.

It seems that it will be very difficult for us to take legal action, because ICOs in many countries do not have definite rules. At least with this incident, we can be more careful in choosing an ICO. And can remind each other in this forum about a project that is a scam

The only means of countering fraudsters is the care of investors. A thorough, not superficial analysis of the team, the token, the product and the consultants is needed. In addition, do not trust ratings, they just buy. Therefore, mindfulness and attention once more.

someone who is smart will not invest in an ICO that does not have a real project. 70% of ICOs only sell ideas. there is no real work, and after they succeed in selling tokens with ideas ... they will disappear. investors with high profit appetite who are trapped in the ICO. and now I have never been trapped.

The best way to do in dealing with those kind of people is to play their game. Let them do what they want but we must always be playing safe and secure. We can't allow them to rule over us so let's stop them. In order to get rid of them we must be aware of what they are doing and with that we will be to react accordingly.

There are tricksters wherever both, in actuality, business and online business, it is in your place to be cautious before putting resources into any business since it will be extremely hard to recover your cash when it is no more.

Profiting by trickery is not something new in our lives today, as people have always dreamed of making a pile of money by cheating others for so many years already. ICO scams are really worrying and there is no way to fix them now. So it's best to invest only in things you know.

I think you should report on the forum and write articles for everyone to precaution and strongly condemn and accompany the campaign because they are in charge. We do not have the time or money to invest as well as work hard to get a trick. Trusted indexes are negative and dangerous to stay away.

So if you know that he's a scammer the best thing to do is don't talk to him, let him talk and waste his time with you. But if really insist that he is not a scammee that he really wants to help you then you can do is that listen to him record what he is saying and later on you can post it on social media or report it on authorities .

like seriously the rate of scam ICO now are days is getting out of hand, many project have go away with my fund the problem is that the project won't look like one until they run away, this have really run many investor down i think the bitcointalk forum need to work on the altcoin session by regulating and deleting those that are not standard look like scam to help the repetition of bitcoin and this forum because many people have believe that bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general is scam. My advice to my fellow investor is to make sure you to go through the project website and also make sure you go through there youtube videos any video without the real face of the ceo should avoided because when if they scam you, you won't be able to trace then.

Yes, I came across some scam projects when I just came into crypto. Usually beginners get into such situations because they don't yet have experience and they don't know how to distinguish a good project from a bad one. A couple of times I came across projects that conducted bounty campaigns, gave out their tokens as a reward and that's all. Further no action. In fact, it turned out to be useless tokens and a useless waste of time on their campaign.

There's nothing really we could do to stop them from scamming but we could avoid by most of the time just by doing a simple task. You should research the background of the project first before you invest because that's when you will know their past. Also, always research who is the team behind it because most scam ICOs have fake team.

Well report scammers to warn bounty hunters and make them be very vigilant and careful plus read white paper of such project and of course importantly check if the CEO and admins are very active in answering quiries.
Not only for bounty hunters, but also to warn and help investors to be vigilant. I think investigating the CEO or his top brass is more important, because whitepapers can be made as attractive and serious. But sometimes, wheter the project is scam or not isn't detected.

For me, as a long time ICO joiner, I wouldn't say that they are scams. It's just that many ICOs these days are not doing well in terms of having a niche in the market. As you can see, there are hundreds if not thousands of projects competing in the market day in and day out, and so, it's just too hard to find those gem of a projects that could make it big, and since most of these projects are looking for crowd-funding, it's very hard for them to reach it, thus, giving them no other option but to close down.

There are soany scammers allnover the world.  Specially when the money are involved.  Scammer are actively make some moves to scam every transaction.  I think it is hard to stop or detect them, all i can say is as long as you protect your money or coins,  as long as it has on good security wallet no worries about it. But you can continue on searching about the good security to secure your properties.

There are scammers in every field it's not just crypto.  Look at how much money Bernie Madoff stole from investors, all the combined scams in crypto don't even come close to that amount.  The amount of MLM scams I see posted over social media is staggering as well.  This is just a crypto problem, its a human greed issue.

I think I've also experienced a fallen in a scam project and I think someone new in the Crypto world will sometimes fall into a scam project, because of a lack of knowledge.
And now all I can do is learn from an experience, to be more careful in choosing the ICO program so that it doesn't fall into a scam project again.
because I know there is nothing I can do with the scammers.

No matter how tight the security gets, there will be scammers. But we need to be extra careful in order to avoid being scammed. There are some ground rules to save ourselves for example, by seeing the type of project and the number of experts in the team.

That's why a serious research on the project and the team behind it is crucial for our safety. It's better also to gather coins from airdrops rather than buying them.

I think we can't avoid that problem. sometimes a project looks very good, and the funds are also collected quite a lot. however, in the end sometimes they do not become trustworthy, and become greedy. well, that is the risk. therefore, sometimes the team and companies involved in an ICO project will be very important.

maybe for us as investors there is nothing to do, it's just that I have a little advice, for me it is necessary to establish an ico filtering team before they enter this forum and promote themselves. I consider this matter important, so that the public's perception of cryptocurrence as a land of fraud is lost.

i think moderator become more secure in terms of investing or any money involve. they should take more time to check every information before they approved. i think the best one to do is banning account of those people who commit scamming or any activities who are not proper in earning money.

we  more expect this kind of scenario especially today where scammers are too hungry to steal our money as fast as they can.

Yes, I got on scammers. They are really very many and very difficult to identify good companies from the whole list of projects. But with the acquisition of experience, I began to better understand the projects.
We cant stop them on scamming. Only we can do is to prevent from scamming people, by just beong be careful. People nowadays are greedy, they will do everything just to earn money even though they scammed others. Just be careful on what project or when you'll put your investments, for you to not get scammed by others.

Scamming is bad obviously don't forget to report him if you know one, but at least not all ICO is scam, just be careful before investing, do some research about their project before investing. After all you are the one who rely your money to them.

I believe, scammers will not exist if there would be no people who will catch the bait, tho we are aiming for a better life, it doesnt seem to be true in an instant. We should not believing those random people who aim to fool us, you should be mentally ready and you should have known this forum that much so you will be aware how it is going, so you will not be one of the victim of their anomalies.

Though scammers are everywhere, but for us that are not, we must be vigilant and be careful to those scammers and scampanies. Learn to read ICO white paper for you to know if what you are into are legit. And if you know that a person is a scammer, report immediately to lessen their activity to scam people.

ICO and other crypto scammers exist here because peoples easily fall for big profit schemes specially newbie, so we need to do proper research before investment if once payment send than we can't get back our money or coins because crypto transactions is not reversible. when i was new for crypto than i fall for Revenue share schemes and loose 1 bitcoin in 2016 so always know proper about project and who is behind it than take decision for investment.

Yes, I think everyone has been involved in such a project. But overall, in my opinion, there is nothing to be done. Even most projects can not be chased by the law, because there are no laws of such scam. Therefore, most countries prohibit ICO projects.

Just simply avoid them, you can obviously know that they are trying to scam you if they are asking informations about yourself and your accounts and ignoring, blocking and reporting them immediately is the only solution to that because scammers are everywhere and they will not stop until they take what they want.

Why is that project scam?Do you have any proofs of that?I haven´t found anything that really point that out.I´m not investor there but promoting them.Any evidence would be nice.

The least we can do is to post it in the scam section and ask those with high authority to give them negative ratings, so people will be warned that the project is a scam site, and they will not going to invest there anymore, many of us are victimized by these scam projects.

now there are scammer everywhere, both in bussiness and advisor. when you participate in bounty or investor in this, you should find out their project, what they do, what thing they buy or advisor or what potential in their project...  you should think carefully when you invest or participate in other project.

Before join to an ICO investigate who is behind the project, if you think they are real persons then you can proceed by the legal way. Get a lawyer and start a demand against them,  if the ico is from other country than yours, then this will be hard, but i think is the only way to proceed with those scams... Other option is to get a hacker to be bad with the bad guys, but this always end wrong  Tongue

Scamming has increased a lot now a days and many new technologies have invented that’s why it has become easier to hack or scam projects. So, all we need to do is to be very careful while investing a new project. We need to do a full research before investing a new one.

I found several fraud projects when I just entered Crypto. Usually beginners enter into such situations because they do not have experience and they do not know how to distinguish good projects from bad ones. Several times I found projects that carried out prize campaigns, giving their tokens as gifts and that was all. Then there is no action.

Scam can cheat new people. So when you invest in any ICO, you need to know the ICO thoroughly and you must have experience in online money trading and learn about frauds to prevent. Only you can protect yourself, when you have been cheated, hope is almost impossible rescue, because electronic transactions are very complex, can not find the culprit.

If you can afford lawsuits then you can go for it if you are a victim of scammers. But filing lawsuits are very expensive and tough too. Be careful when you are investing money.

I saw 70-80% ico are scam which are not reliable .they do smart work and making projects by invester and advisers and after not giving token ,making scami .what to do with them. Have you ever fallen in scams ? I am fallen some time .

It's a bit difficult to avoid these scammers nowadays, because most of them are very clever in explaining the project with promising and trustworthy words which can easily attract the interest of investors.
The only way to avoid them is do a research about the company and teams.

We always have to be careful about fraud..Many scam projects were created after the huge rise in December..Some of them were meant to cheat completely, some disappeared because of the bad trend of the market.

I think that the best way to deal with scammers is to report about them and to make them anti advertising in order nobody go to them. If they lose money they won't risk anymore

Do what you do as always. Don't buy what they say, be smart, be careful. Don't click links you don't know where it's coming from. Remember there too many people who's trying to steal your money.

I tried it but it's okay, try again don't just sit there and utter bad word to the ICO that fails....
Instead look for new group with a good background and try to join their group...
This time you might hit a jock pot by endorsing their project...

Here is something i do each time i see a scam project, I make sure I make people aware of their illicit activities, it is a moral duty.if you inform or warm others about it, you are helping them avoid the same mistakes they could potentially make.Looking out for them.

Yes have fell for so many scam ICO projects, in fact alot of them. A lot of unvisionary projects but just because they paid some ICO rating blog or some ICO Youtubers channel to help them propagate there project they tends win the mind of people thereby investing in them.  Well I haven't think of  a way we can report them.  Just that one must DYOR before investing in any project.

Scammers exist in real life and also into this world, nothing strange. You just need to be always careful and be prepared against them.
If you got scammed by someone, just let it go.. it happens, everyone here got scammed at least one time.

At first its hard to determine whether a project is a scam or not. Because they introduce their project as if it will be the next big thing. But in the end it is a scam. Hard to say but i also fallen in some scam project.

The whole space where the ICOs are operating is unregulated which makes it impossible for us to actually catch the scammers. However, I think there are still ways for us to prevent such scams. If someone or an organization comes up with a project that helps us identifying scams beforehand then it will help us a lot. According to my knowledge, there are quite a few similar projects that are being worked on by the developers right now.

No, you are saying wrong. Not the %80 ICO scam, %80-90 ICO's are unsuccesfull thats all. I can say %10 ICO's at most scam. I wish that everything were same like year of 2016.. All the ICO's were fine and after ICO your investment would turn at least x2-x3.. But now it's terrible..

I have been deceived a lot, ICO and bounty missions, but I think ICO is an option, we can reduce our losses from fraud by reducing investment or prohibiting investment in ICO!
I think just because a lot of projects ico becomes a scam then you reduce your investment in it. not ico you have to stay away from,
but your ability must be honed so you can do better analysis and research so you can know which potential ico project..

I've also experienced something like you, but I have invested little in the ICO project, even though I invested a little, but I was very disappointed with the project I invested in. now I also see that many ICO projects this year have been scams, so I have to be more careful in investing because I am afraid of losing again.

As of now, we cannot catch the scammers. Or even if we do, we cannot really prove anything. But, if we check the team authencity, roadmap of the ICO, the community groups of that very ICO and analyze ourselves, we might be able to identify shady ICOs that are most likely to scam us in the future.

I did fall for a couple scams when i first started in crypto. The scammers make promises of high returns and easy rewards that can play with your emotions. But even though it sounded too good to be true, i went against my better judgement. And unfortunately, sometimes you have to learn the hard way before you can change your thinking. I'm a lot more skeptical now when it comes to ICOs and even Airdrops but the best thing you can do is research every aspect of the project and see what other people are saying about it before you dive in!

I have never fallen and hopefully not. Because i mostly join the bounty rather than invest on ICO.

I think there is nothing we can do as a member here to punish a scammers, because there is no regulator that regulates that.

Maybe what need we do is to be more careful when joining an ICO. And if we fall in scam project dont forget to post in this thread to warn the other.

Our success against scammers depends on how we can remind each other.

Well, mass awareness is the only option to combat these scammers. To be honest, the lack of awareness is the only capital scammers have to execute their scams. Bitcoin and entire crypto industry is still new and that's the reason why scammers are able to execute their scams with little efforts. Doing on research before making an investment decision is the highly recommended activity as we always say "Prevention is better than cure".

The first step and most important is prevention, you can read the whitepaper they provide and then look the track record of the people on the team. You can also find out or ask questions while discussing scams in this forum, especially in Scam Accusations, unless you’re lazy to read.

The only thing you could do is filing a lawsuit against them.
This I find often when the ICO can buy a credible 5 * points easily.
I've been tricked by a lot of scams and lost a little bit of ETH but in return I got the rutsra experience needed to participate in an ICO.

I also invest a lot if scams, its because im new at crypto that time but now I know if the ICO legit or not. I am also asking for assistance to others to be sure also. But even seems legit if the project fails then it will be scam. Lets keep in mind to invest money you can afford to lose.

I've fallen into some scams before but that only happened for few times and I'd learned from those.

This is my advise to everyone especially to the newbies/beginners in the crypto market. We tend to look for a way to make more money and the only way to do that is to have various investments that we can involved with. That's right but before investing, take time and do research on where you are putting your money, familiarize yourself to that field.

You can't do anything about it. In any sphere connected with money there are and always will be scammers.
You need to take responsibility for your own safety and don't invest in those projects in which you have a doubt.

Here's the trick... look for REVERSE-ICOs. Reverse ICOs are businesses introducing a token into their existing business ecosystem.

That means they have existing revenue streams, customers and infrastructure to deploy their token into. This means they can accept fiat during their token sale and don't have a complete dependence on funds raised to get their projects off the ground.

This article provides a good overview of the concept.

I think the current scam ICO should be an important reason for the bear market. Their scam project defrauded people's investment, making those real projects unable to get enough investment, and the worst part is that because of the large number of scammers, people are no longer I believe in ICO again.

Now ICO projects are very much, so want to invest you need to find out thoroughly. Phishing projects often make bold claims about the product, even if the project is not new and breakthrough. Obviously, a blockchain or a digital money platform cannot afford to put an end to poverty, tackle global warming or replace the internet. If someone pledged his digital currency to replace Bitcoin, owning an incredible number of users or worth 100 times more, then it would certainly be a fraudulent project.

The best way to stay safe right now is not to buy into any ICO.

If you like the project, wait for it to hit exchange before you buy.

Funny enough, in this bear market, you'll even get it cheaper than the ico price when it reaches exchange.
That's the new trend.

I have experienced this too, buying tokens in their crowdsale, after I looked at the dev and whitepaper profiles on their website, I felt interested and invested a few, unfortunately after launching, their tokens nothing have value in the market.
I think they also manipulate data on their website when updating the number of sales tokens, as if many people have already bought it and made us believe.

Aside from avoiding them the other thing you can do is to report this scammers in order to avoid other people from being one of the victims. Knowing yourself what the scams are is a good thing but reporting them and warning others is the best option. Keeping one away from the streets will mean a lot of people will be save from their dark schemes. Also you never want to participate in any of thos scams as there is absolutely no return from this kinds of imvestment opportunity.

The easiest way to recognize them is to do research. but first you should consult those people who have encountered such frauds. this can be very useful.
You are right, but it really difficult to recognised them if you refuse to do research my question is where can we do research about them because I check this forum but I can really see any thing like that.

What type of person are you? Do you care for others? If so, you can take preventive measures by actively educating and discussing in forums or to your acquaintances who are interested or have just started investing and trading. You also have to be very patient explaining to those who are just newly started, because not everyone understands the concept of investment and crypto.

There are scammers every where both in real life business and online business, it is in your place to be careful before investing in any business because it will be very difficult to retrieve your money when it is gone.
Problem is, its easy to scam and its hard to get your money back. Because of that think twice about what you are doing.
I was scammed, tryed to get my money back for years. Wasted only nerves and time not mentioning more money.

Think twice.

Definitely right because when I started my journey in 2017 August, I invested in this scam by mistake. It was called bitpetite. I didn’t know much about crypto and how things worked. Though stay away from any place that promises a FIXED PROFIT. Because one thing I’ve learned in blockchain and crypto is that nothing remains constant.

However, one of the best coins to buy or invest in are pivx and TenUp (pre sale).

There are so many scams in the ICO.  Believe me, even you do so much research, there is a high chance that the one you are joining is still a scam.  I think the best way to eliminate joining scams is to follow trustful bounty managers.  You know that they do their job of researching bounty campaigns prior promoting it.

I saw 70-80% ico are scam which are not reliable .they do smart work and making projects by invester and advisers and after not giving token ,making scami .what to do with them. Have you ever fallen in scams ? I am fallen some time .

I've lost money two times, both times it was because of my health problems + scam/ fraud or very unprofessional behaviour from 3rd party services that I dealt with.

It's heartbreaking for me.

What to do with them? Force them to repair the damage. I don't really believe in punishments, if it's possible to repair the damage (and at least in one of my cases it's possible) it should be enough. I don't how longer I'll manage to live, but this money could be used by my family... And we really need money, I won't go into details but if I would go public with what we've been through we would be featured in TV  Shocked
