Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Hi Genjix, why did you use a Polish Bank who charges for receiving SEPA? (Btw: the account is in EUR or in PLN?) May I add that Britconi has a way nice coloring? :-p Looking forward to the API coming  |

May I add that Britconi has a way nice coloring? :-p Looking forward to the API coming I know from certain special Corporate to other special Corporate accounts there are free transfers but I am not sure if there are other free transfers which people will be able to make use of. I see that there are probably ones in countries who have EUR as their standard currency. I will look into this further. As of right now receiving a SEPA transfer on our end is generally less than $2 (and a minimum of .25%... so if you are sending 800$ it actually would cost $2. There is a maximum of around 180PLN~$68, but this is if you are sending over $27,000). I will open an account in another country if it is advantageous. As of now our service is free as well. Our developers are all here in Poland which is why we opened the bank account in Poland. |

Hi Genjix,
yes, SEPA costs cannot be more than the one for local within-country transfers (if same currency!). Hence, most of EURO banks (read: banks in countries which do have the EURO as their official currency) do not charge anything at all for wiring.

Nope, but thanks for the quick reply. It looks like it is back up again. For at least about 15 minutes, www.myopenid.com was down. All good now. To me, this is all so new so I do tend to panic when things make it seem like my money has disappeared! |

please don't remove support for openid! if myopenid.com is down then it's really easy to set up an open id at a different provider, and open id is so much more flexible/secure than having a logon with a separate password, risk of password database compromise, and no support for two factor authentication (which I use with Verisign PIP). Please don't remove support for openid! Will |

Please don't remove support for openid! Will Sorry but OpenID really does comprise a majority of our support tickets. And people blame us when google changes their OpenID or MyOpenID goes down, they login and have 0 funds. Nearly always people think we've stolen their funds or made a mistake. |

I agree, it would be a shame to see it go. Perhaps you could leave it as an alternative option for more technical users? That would probably save you the hassle of migrating all the existing accounts as well. |

Why does it now say Intersango on the britcoin site? i thought only the EU site was called that?
And possibly stupid question... but if i deposit BTC into my britcoin account, how does it know the BTC was deposited from me? Because the account doesn't know my bitcoin address..

I prefer to go to the front page of Britcoin and type in a figure like £10 or £100 or £1000 — no need to log in first. The volume of trading there is relatively small, and you might find £100 covers open trades from £9.20 per BTC to £9.85 per BTC. If you didn't look closer, you might get that idea that you could immediately get £100 worth of bitcoins at the £9.20 rate and it wouldn't be true. |
