I think this rule is a good basis for beginners if you want to level up. Because it will reduce unreasonable posts (SPAM) in this forum, and people who are used to spam only to fulfill their quota will definitely increase twice before posting. However, back again for those who really want to study seriously, because they have a tendency that might not make sense or be more logical for people who already know a lot about what is being discussed, of course they certainly need time as a 'Newbie' for gelatin really start to benefit others.

so I think personally, this new rule is very effective for Bitcointalk forums to minimize the SPAMMER which is already very troubling, also with this system, people will try to make quality Post and contribute seriously to raise rank and get 'Merit' and indirectly stimulates the intention of members to read more posts in their entirety while trying to write posts that are useful to all Forum readers, rather than doing 'SPAM' which is sure to be detrimental because it is BANNED PERMANENT if proven doing it.

Its really sad for many Non-Abuser like us!
I agree  on the Fact thay so many abuser on the forum Continuously abusing the System!
And that's making the Administrator create new rules!
The fact i'm hurt is that no one here basically Sends any merit even they had smerit!
they prefers to sell them with huge price. on the day this nee jr demotion system implied people got crazy to get merit and someone in other coin community placed a deal on merit for 50$ worth in that coins per merit!
which is really not helpful for people like us to get levelled up!
although i forum do not have any rule one selling merit or anything so i shouldn't really be Complaining here!
Anyways keep up Admin ☺

The culture of giving merits to good content and reasonable answer is considered as shit post and those who put good content are missing merits

If the post that received Merit was actually spam, and gets deleted, you still get to keep your Merit.

Like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=2344030

so its seems to me that if "newbies" want to get paid, they have to pay to play. still not making any post better but is ok if they pay.

It doesn't seem to you like that, it IS like that. You pay a fee, you can participate in campaigns.

It still doesn't give you the right to shitpost though.

Here, in one of the chat rooms, an interesting phenomenon appeared and the story on him Roll Eyes

The man in the face Newbie goes to the seller Merit, he buys one Merit, raises until Jr.M, and then begins to blackmail him Shocked
Either he lays out the correspondence and makes the topic on bt, revealing the seller, which leads to his paint. Or the seller to him will put 20 merits - for silence.
Can you imagine what's going on? Smiley

I translated the message, it sounds like this
Quote
You sold me merit, the forum paint the trust for such
Option one - you transfer me another 19 smerits for free and I forget for you.
Option two - you do not transfer me 19 smertits and I publish a post on BTT with proof of purchase.

In general, the fuss of spiders in the bank begins Cheesy
But if his blackmail succeeds, he will get a member with a status of +10 Sad

P.S. I think that if such a scheme is opened, it would be cool to issue a ban. But I'm not sure if there is a blackmail rule for the forum

Ok - if you care about this place, give up bounties for a month - improve your grammar a little, read the rules of the forum and only post 4 well thought out and valuable posts.

you do that, ill give you 50 merits.

how does that sound?

Haha what an asshole! Where else is this fun taking place? Telegram? I wonder how I can find rooms like this.

Yes, in a telegram group) I saw a repost of a blackmail-message
And if I understand the dialogue correctly, then there is already a topic on the bt. Moreover, the person was given a negative trust for the sale of the merit. In general, the phenomenon as a fact already exists

I had no doubt that people will try to cheat after introducing new 1 merit regulation but i didn't think that they will do it in such a shameless way...

Looking into last merits given away on: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=recent It’s really obvious the trade and giving away to multiple account has already already begun. There’s even no need to analyze recently given away merit looking through the thread’s topics is completely enough.
These people didn’t even try to hide their behavior!!! If only they at least try to put a bit of work and write simple post with any meaning (not much meaning but any!) - no they rather awards merit by shit – even their own or others bounty reports and aidrop applications!!!!

look below:
avarding bounty reports:
[BOUNTY][AIRDROP] NEIRONIX Rating agency of scoring of exchanges, coins and ICO:    1 merit from Loanbit to juraangel
[BXUNTY] 🔥 iLink2Music OFFICIAL BOUNTY THREAD!!:    3 merit from Loanbit to juraangel

application to airdrop:
[BOUNTY][AIRDROP]🌏🌏🌏 VestChain — Next Generation Blockchain Platform 🌏🌏🌏:    1 merit from TukiCripto to Kolya786

"Wow, wonderful!" post:
[BOUNTY][AIRDROP][ANN][AirDrop] Token AirDrop By AXEL: Tons Of Tokens Up For Grabs! 🔥🎁:    1 merit from AXELNetwork to David20182018

Thanks to this new rule, I got demoted to Newbie. And to say the least i am truly devastated about this. I do not see myself a "shitposter", if i may say. I do research everytime i replied for a topic for it to appear as constructive as it should be. I do my job seriously because i consider this as my bread and butter. All the tokens that rewarded to me here were intended for the school needs of my daughter being a single parent.
Can i still be rewarded the tokens intended for my then Jr. Member rank from the signature campaign i've participated? I do need some advise on this, please.

I checked your post history and I didn't see "research". You're posting generic phrases in meaningless megathreads. If this is your job you should consider a career change.

You may get your signature payment but you need to talk to your campaign manager. This thread is not the place for that.

Thank you sir for your criticism although i find it very much subjective. In spite of that as long as i do not step on others toes, i am confidently fine with my postings. You, sir, is not in a position to tell me to change career because this is for my beloved daughters benefits. I am already of age nonetheless i still plan on giving her the best there is, with the help of this forum, hopefully. And i do not intend for her to suffer just because of someone's recommendation. I guess you sir were lucky enough to have joined this forum way back when there were no rules such as this.
About my signature payment, i am just kindly asking for some suggestions on what to do. A simple yes or no, from you would have been suffice enough.

By the way, in the couple hours since you were bitching about my merits, I've accrued 12 more  Tongue
it's probably because you write the right things, but I do not. right?)

I read through your posts and yeah, you're exactly right.

We have a saying in Russia according to which a well-fed man finds it difficult to understand a starving one.

We have a saying in Hawaii: If can, can. If no can, no can. You braddah no can.
Dealing with legends, I'm more and more convinced that this is just a forum for you. At least this can explain the resentment of old users regarding the influx of new users. then I understand why old users are annoyed by flooding. but there is one nuance.
You should already understand that the forum has become a center for making money. and merits began to sell. If the administration did not want this, then it would prohibit the execution of the signature on the forum. this would immediately solve all the issues. but this does not happen. So old users should stop thanking the administration for cleaning up the forum.
Once again I ask you and other old residents to read my topic "THEME FOR THEYMOS" and try to understand the current situation

As a newcomer who just recently join after the implementation of this newbie restrictions. I must say it's really an eye opener. Never have I seen such stringent requirements for newcomers.

But if it's all in the name of eradicating low quality post spamming, then I 100% support it. Smiley

Reference data for future abuse tracking:
Friday last week, 6286 users had received 1 Merit.
One week earlier, 6237 users had received 1 Merit.
One more week back, 6190 users had received 1 Merit.
That's an increase of less than 50 per week. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 500 new users with 1 Merit next Friday.
(quote slightly edited)

This morning, 7626 users had received 1 Merit. That's 1340 more than last week, and the increase is about 2500% larger than the previous weeks. Many of those will be legitimate, as many users and Merit sources are focussing more on Newbies, but many will also be the result of Merit trading.

There is actually a good and bad side of the new rules implemented. From what I have observed that there are quite a lot of newbies here who spammed the forum with non-quality post. All for the sake of stakes from bounties. And some are even making multiple accounts to get more rewards. With the new rules, this will help get rid of this kind of act. However, not all newbies are like this and that they get the same restrictions, which is unfair. I also hate the selling of merits because with that, anyone can easily rank up as long as they can afford to pay merits.

Why the rules did not touch higher ranks.
You obviously don't understand where the problem is.  It isn't with higher-ranked members, it's with newbies spamming for bounties.

This isn't a court of law.  This isn't the gaming industry.  It's a discussion forum with a real spam problem.

I also noticed you've been here since January and you haven't earned any merits yet.  I would suggest that instead of whining about how unfair bitcointalk is, you look at yourself.

The most important thing is not to be greedy. If you are greedy, you will be at a loss. It is better to earn a little, but regularly. Listen to the opinions of experienced traders, better than a few to make the right choice. Be always calm, even when you go into the negative, do not panic.
This post is an example of your output here.  It doesn't express any great insight and it's not even interesting to read.  Thousands of shitposters write crap like the above every minute.  Why should you be rewarded for that?  I can't tell if you were in a sig campaign or not since your signature was deleted, but I assume you were.  And if you weren't in a campaign, you can still do everything you need to here as far as reading and posting, right?

   Hello all moderators  Grin ,
Realy , I don’t want to give my judgment on this new decision before getting clear answers about my following questions :
1- do you think that buying copper membership will improve the newbie’s  posts quality ?
You are making good points here. I'm not a mod, but I felt I would comment what I thought regarding your claims.

Buying copper membership will do nothing regarding post quality of newbies, but it will reduce the registration of newbies who post garbage. It will discourage and demotivated the newbies to register since they need to pay a small fee to registered and even needed to put extra effort to ranked up to Jr. member level. Because I have seen that most of the people/bots will tend to join and just post shit in order to rank up just by wasting time here. When they ranked up by wasting time and moves immediately to earn money or shitcoins by just participating bounty/signature campaigns. As always I have believed that earning through the bitcointalk forum is not the problem but the way we do it.

In a nutshell Prevention is better than cure even though the cure is not perfect.

Quote

2- what is the main problem now , the increasing of  garbage-posting posts or the decreasing of high-level posts ?
I think its an ultimate effect caused due to both problems. We can't just say this is the exact root cause, but we can surely say that posting garbage posts will have the much heavier portion when we put those two problems in a scale.

Quote
3- are the newbies members only responsible for upgrading forum’s posts level ? if they aren’t only ,what are your related decisions to push or force the high-order members to improve their posts quality and do you have the tools which allow you to monitor and evaluate their performance in order to make the appropriate decisions to improve their performance? as what  now happening with newbies … thank you . Smiley
No, all other members have their own responsibility for upgrading the forums level of post quality. All other ranks needed to put in extra effort, help the community members etc..in order to ranked up and they can't just get ranked up by only just wasting time and posting garbage. They need merits to ranked up. That's why theymos introduced the merit system at the beginning of this year. So any shitposter/bot even cant imagine to ranked up easily unless you are having merit abuser in your pocket. He might think now that why should I left any loopholes to the users who really don't care about the forum and put some restrictions in order to avoid ranking up sheer garbage posters.

Merit system is the appropriate decision that has been taken by admin in order to improve the posting quality of other members who really earned their rank by putting in extra effort when they posting. It is not the best, but at least for now it's doing the best what its supposed to do when it introduced in the first place.

I'm hoping these stats will help you to understand whats happening in the forum after introduction of the new rule.

That's "24-hour periods from now", not calendar days.

There was a bug for the last ~7 hours which prevented all newbie posts, so that's going to make a big dent in the stats.
Thank you for volunteering to reply instead of moderators and I think you deserve the points of merit that you have received in response to my post  Wink ... For your replies I think it is somewhat convincing, especially with regard to the first two questions because you are not a moderator and not one of the decision owners of the Forum ... But for the third answer I'm not convinced because I think that most of members are trying to escape from the recognition that the main source of garbage-posts in this forum are often the members ( of the highest ranks of newbies ) who engaged in the pursuit and participation in the  bounty campaigns  and the implementation of its known terms .. As for the statistics that you have shared ( thank you for that ), i think its  not a strong indicator >>  I think we need more time to know whether there is a big improvement or not. I will not continue writing on this topic because I think my message has arrived. Smiley

I have been working for a long time but now I am having trouble working because of my position, so please help me.

Yeah... spamming the forum non-stop for months with your quote pyramids and social media links doesn't constitute "work".

I'm putting you on ignore for begging for merit. Try reading something for a change.

No doubt we are seeing the effect of the restrictions and requirements on the forum already, the past few days, the number of post on the alt discussion thread has reduced significantly. Kudos to the Mod for the decision.

BitcoiNote team fully support anything that contributes to improving the quality of the forum and helps fight spam.

We have, however, been affected, being reduced to Newbie Sad. Through this forum and our ANN thread we have been communicating with our community, providing links, placing photos etc - now we're not able to do that anymore.

Obviously, we have other social media channels to share info but we have always treated Bitcointalk forum as one of the most important ones, as the one to give the fullest information on all changes and updates regarding our coin. (except for our website). We have treated this way of sharing information as natural and didn't expect (or ask) for any merit. Having received none, we went from Jr. Member to Newbie, despite almost 9 months of activity and 249 posts. Cry

We haven't spammed or scammed yet now, we will have to find a new way to communicate with our Bitcointalk community.

We would assume that our BitcoiNote's account isn't the only altcoin's account that has been affected by the new rules. Seems like perhaps targeting the ANN thread and rising coins threads wasn't necessarily the aim of the admins though...

I believe gpu and cpu Mining are needed. You forked your coin to try to stay asic resistant. So I am going to give you 2 merits.
