I sell them at any price to get ethereum or bitcoin. shit coins are not worth to hold even a single day. the project can die and team turn out scam at anytime with a shit coin of shit project.
While you are right, there are many more projects in the market than just bitcoin and ethereum and while many are terrible there is still a chance that you select a good project and that is why people keep investing in altcoins that are not very well known because they hold the hope that they will be one of the lucky ones and they will obtain incredible profits out of their investment.

I checked my wallet when I read this post and I was surprised on how many shitcoins I have. Majority of them came from airdrops. That is why I stopped joining them and if I haven't stop, I would have twice the amount of what I have now. I also consider my two of my coin as a shitcoin since there is no buy orders on the exchange. I guess I worked for the bounty and wasted my time.

Its hard to avoid ending up with a coin which ends up way below expectations.
We have all dabbled with ICO's at some stage and at the moment everything is
suffering, some much more than others.

I have already liquidated most of them back into bitcoin and ethereum.
Others are so low that they are not even worth considering moving them.

I don't know if we can call Nano a shitcoin but it is definitely looking like one considering how much it dropped. At its height it was about 34 dollars each and right now it goes as little as 1 dollar right now. That is not a normal drop in price, it is expected of all coins to drop but dropping from 34 to 1 is a huge decline even in this horrible markets.

I got a lot of it because I believed it was going high, I got in late as well, not right away, I got in during 14-17 dollar levels and once again during 8 dollar levels because I believed it would have gone back up to 20+ dollar levels. I was really wrong. I bought a lot because I was at around reddit those times and EVERYONE was talking about how amazing nano is. During those times bitcoin was costing 10+ dollars for a transaction fee and Nano was free and instant so it was looking like a potentially amazing coin.

Sadly, i was choosing a wrong project, that i thought it was good according to the data that i got without having another source of data about the project.
So from that day onward, i tried to check on a project thoroughly upon joining a project.

People buying shitcoins because getting rich seems easy with shitcoins .They can be pumped 200x .. But the bigggest problem is they can be dumped 200x also  Because of that people always buying some shitcoins during their crypto experience and they are suffering.
So you can focus to that issue in your article. You may use that context - Dreams of investors -

I the tokens is not tradable I will forget about it. But if it's listed on some exchange I'll wait for a new pump and then sell all my tokens. If the price will go under, I'll sell immediatly.

I normally buy the most established coins in the market, very rarely I move away from the top 50, but the times I've done it, is because I have participated in their ICO and has given me enough confidence to invest, now it is very difficult to maintain a new coin afloat, prices do not leave many options nowadays.

Joining airdrops is a very fast way to have many coins that are not worth your time, since you can get those coins for basically nothing then as you may guess those coins have no value at all unless someone else decides that they do but if the developers behind those coins do not really make any kind of effort to try to make their project a success then most coins that you get from airdrops are going to be useless.

I am working on an article about how smart people ended up buying shitcoins – I need some info on why you bought shitcoins (if any). If you choose "other" then can you care to comment on what that other means? Would appreciate if you helped me get an insight!
Thanks in advance.

I did not have enough knowledge to determine shitkoyny and other coins, but now I have enough experience and tons of tokens based on ERC-20.

i would vote "other". Even with shit coins, i hold.
Usually because price is very low so i think is silly sell them, and also i have no time to try some trade.

With the current market, one can hardly different between shitcoins and good coins since majority of the coins values are near nothing.

Fortunately for me, all the tokens that I have been able to invest and have not reached the stock exchange, so I did not need the mistakes of others, to learn about the bad investment call.

place an order for sale at a high price and forget about these altcoins. sooner or later will pump and your order will be triggered

At the time, there were ideas to buy such here shitcoins with small volumes and cheap. I think people also bought 5-10 dollars for the hope of a large profit. Perhaps now this strategy will also work when the market collapsed. These are the coins in 2017 increased in price up to a hundred times or more. Only here is before such a strategy worked, and now can and not work.

Despite of making own research for investing I ended up with some shitcoins but I accept it as normal as
not our decisions are perfect. Sometimes everything looks nice  on paper but then shit-coin happens.

I just bought shit coins because of their limited demand. But gladly before it becomes dump coin I manage to get out early and got good reasonable profit. It is good to invest on shit coins but the risk is big.
