Hey folks!

For everyone who's interested in trading BEAM against USDT or BTC - I'd like to introduce BHEX (https://www.bhex.com/exchange/301/BEAM/USDT). BHEX is by far the biggest exchange in terms of trading volume for BEAM (100% real trading volume).

We will be rolling out more product offerings to the US folks. If you'd like to learn more, and perhaps become one of our beta testers down the road, please join our new telegram group: https://t.me/BHEX_US

Thanks much!!

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

what is the annual inflation rate?

"Beam is designed to be a deflationary coin with capped supply, halving every four years and stopping emission altogether after 133 years."

So we don't know the actual number of coins that will be released on an annual basis?

Also, what exactly does 'maturing' mean? Is this another word for staking?

it's easy to calculate exactly how many coins are created each year.

Year 1 = 80coins per block every 60 seconds + 20 coins per block emitted in a batch every 43800 blocks towards the treasury fund.
Year 2,3,4 = 40coins per block every 60 seconds + 10 coins per block emitted in a batch every 43800 blocks towards treasury fund.
Year 5 = 40coins per block very 60 seconds (treasury rewards cease).
Year 6,7,8,9 = 20 coins per block every 60 seconds.
Year 10,11,12,13 = 10 coins per block every 60 seconds.
and then halving every four years until 262,800,000 Beam are created.

I created an updated video mining guide for Beam.

This is more in-depth than my initial how to mine beam video, I illustrate how to mine beam w/ Nvidia & AMD GPUs on Linux (smOS) and Windows
I cover basic overclocking information, beam network hashrate, and the best beam mining pool in my experience.

I also include all of the needed configs to simply copy and paste in the video description, or with Windows I have configs that are downloadable -- you will simply swap my beam address with yours and be mining beam to your wallet in seconds after download. Hope this helps someone!

[ANN] Four-Hour-Long Community Test of BEAM Andorid BETA wallet (Testnet coins only)

OK, final synopsis of the test send/receive within discord community on channel #mobile-wallet is as follows:

The wallet appears to work flawlessly. When a user is offline, the transaction waits to see the wallet come online (unsure of max timeout at this point.) and the utxo begins 'synching with blockchain' when it immediately sees the wallet online.

From there it waits for next block and goes 'completed' - User wallet confirms receipt of Beams.

I'd say, pretty much flawless, all errors found seemed to be user errors, such as community users requesting testnet coins then going offline.

An In-depth check was with a user who thought he had left his wallet online... when the phone went to standby, the wallet stopped responding. User then restarted his android wallet and utxo was seen immediately.

Initial tests show positive working of the BETA wallet. Further tests will continue.

Thank you very much for this.

Out of interest, does anyone think that there is potential for crowdfunding to become a strong use case for Beam? Similar to how Ethereum evolved to become?

The beginning of a new era.

Both wallets must be "online". Are you sure about this? Specify how and where you send your BEAM's. Perhaps, the wallet on which you send the BEAM expired.

further TESTNET android wallet testing tonight:

Send / receive while phones are locked has been tested manually. Results found that even when an android device is locked and the wallet app is running in the background, coins are still transacted. My next step will be to leave the app running overnight and monitor battery usage.

test case:

sender sent 2 TESTNET Beams to receiver mobile device.
sender locked phone down - leaving wallet app running in the background.
receiver also locked phone down - leaving wallet app running in the background.

receiver checked phone 20 mins after utxo and found transaction took 7 mins to show complete.
sender checked phone 25 mins after utxo and found transaction took 11 mins to show complete.

Assumptions:

background refreshing of both phones were enacted differently, hence offering the differing receive points.

again another flawless test of the Beam android wallet.
