Mining now through the wallet, its definitely cpu mining. But now what, do we hit blocks of 657 HVC or are the coins distributed some other way? The difficulty is 35 right now, I don't see how any cpu in the world can hit that. I have a top of the line AMD FX-9370 and so it should be good at cpu mining. But not even all thre of my graphics cards would ever hit a block at a diff of 35.

Something doesn't make sense here.
Heh... "top of the line"
I just got a block and yes, it was worth 657. I'm mining on 176 threads, though.
See post above and use google. Just because I'm not an Intel fanboy and don't use them doen't mean the most expensive AMD cpu's are not top of the line.

Download the HVC wallet, record your adress, download the miner from hvc.1gh.com, edit the .bat file (if you use windows) with your adress, run it and then report what khash/s you get with that cpu. Either you shut them up or you will offer them a laugh  Smiley Either way you are mining coins now.

I am using freebsd current, any chance to mine?

Cpuminer compiles in unix (it might require a few tweaks) so I don't see why not. Does the current freebsd build still use gcc? Have you tried to compile the Source from http://hvc.1gh.com/ ?

I have a question about voting. If only block finders can vote on the next block size, does this mean that the pools (1gh) get all the votes? If that's the case, won't every vote always be 1024?(what I'm guessing the pools are voting)

You can adjust your vote in the .bat file.

you are mad to be solo mining with that tiny little cpu. that's what doesn't make sense.
You're right it was a worthless attempt at that diff but the FX-9370 is not a tiny little cpu. You must be thinking of something else. This is $300 from AMD, and is the 2'nd best CPU you can buy from them right now. 8 cores oc'ed to 5Ghz isn't tiny buddy sorry. If you go over to any hardware forum or do any reading about cpu's you would know this. The only bigger single CPU's are the 12+ core Xeons and Opterons, which aren't even for desktop systems and run much slower in speed.

i mean't tiny to be solo mining HVC at the current difficulty. Intel CPUs are so much better than AMD while you are on the subject. my 2x12 core xeons would eat your little AMD.

Sorry this may be a noob question but assuming I want to maximize cpu usage, does number of threads to use == 2x number of cores?

e.g. the i4770k can only do 8 threads? [OC-ed to 4.4GHz]

Depends on the processor. Some Intel processors have Hyper-Threading which gives you four logical cores on top of your four physical cores. Your 4770k has HT, so you get 8 threads. A i5-4670k on the other hand doesn't have Hyper-Threading, so you only have 4 cores/threads.

Need some good PR for this coin, seems the buyers are tiring out and volume is going down, www.cryptoaltex.com Smiley
coz dev is already on Bahamas with his 173 btc giving a fuck to all of you here...

w8 , w8 , the previous guy said Tahiti , Smiley

this topic full of trolls, but there just few person trolling all the time...
we dont know they angry on dev's. on coin or what?  i just try to guess, some persons just wanna buy cheap coins, coz at his price
they very cheap, with that structure they have to cost at least 0.0002 btc, but at this moment is not possible, because of IPO dumpings... coz anyone from IPO still has some profit, some of them killing the price to buy it back cheaper...that is possible because of big supply and kind a small demand... u just need to look in to sell orders there goes PLAIN numbers 1000's, 10000's and etc, i think mostly miners is holding..
of course dev's making big mistake not developing forward this coins biosphere and not communicating with the community
BUT who trolling about DEV's holiday somewhere in Caribbean islands... DEV don't even touched any satoshi in IPO's wallet, so
is too early to say they runaway from the coin.. just give some time, maybe they back with ideas. or atlest they could lobby with that BTC cryptsy and poloniex to get listed on that exchanges.

which exchange is better to trade heavycoin:

atomic-trade.com
cryptoaltex.com
or c-cex.com

They all seems very new and I am concerned about security as there have been quite a few exchanges hacked, please can you tell me how can trust these exchanges, how can they prevent from being hacked, what warranty cant they give me?

How did they manage to hacked exchanges, and how do I know it will not happen to the exchanges listed above?

Please I will appreciate your advice, thanks

Hello Parano,

I am the owner of CryptoALTeX.  I've recently (a few pages back) had a discussion about security with the owner of atomic-trade.  I would feel comfortable using either of our platforms.  I have heard numerous reports that c-cex has been having issues.

I would never leave my currency on an exchange, even on my own.  Why do I say that?  Because I work in the information security field and I see major business getting hacked daily.  That said I force more security than a lot of exchanges because I feel that this is what the crypto world needs right now.  Even one user who has their account hacked is bad for the community, the attacker will dump all your coins thus hurting the prices and wallets of everyone in the community.

I require 2 factor logon because, why not?  Why not protect the users who refuse to use a unique secure password for each site.  Why send a withdraw to someone unverified besides username and password?  What if a user forgot to lock their computer and someone who knows they are doing coins walks up to it and withdrawals to their own address?  Sure they could possibly access the persons email as well but with smart phones etc users will receive the email and at least have a chance to click Deny on the transaction via the email link.

I hope the community realizes that the security measures taken are protect their investment and help to remove bad press articles about people losing coins.  Just yesterday I know of at least three exchanges that dont force 2-factor or email authentication for withdrawals that have had user funds stolen.  Someone hacked a pool website or there is a malicious pool out there that had their usernames/passwords stolen.  The attacker went to each exchange with a list of usernames and began draining their accounts.  There was even a user who said he was logged into coinex while seeing his coins selling and withdrawing, and he couldn't stop it from happening.  A simple email required to withdrawal would have made this user lose 0 funds.

I believe it is irresponsible and greedy for the big exchanges to not put these features in.  Sure it may turn off a few users from using their site but at what expense to our community?

If you look back a few pages you will see cryptoaltex and atomic-trade's information about security.  Not sure where you'll find c-cex's.

Thanks and I hope you have a good experience on whatever exchange you decide using.

Many thanks for your email.

How secure are you? wheres the company info page? are you a legal entity?

All I see is a site that was thrown up a while back and and puts liability onto the users.

There is no form of protection for a user when you have 0 company info listed, you could gox people easy you could have what happened to poloniex. Show your accountability and maybe I would trade over there otherwise  your site is just a giant gamble, and while I am sure seedy people may use it based on the lack on info needed to to transfer USD.

So you may have it but I think you just cater to money launders.

We have many traders trading lots of coins. We are here to stay becase we earn much more on trading fee - not by stealing Your funds.

I'll be adding more about the security practices to the site.  Coins are moved to cold storage, the front end interface has absolutely no interaction or ability to interact with the coin daemons directly.  Everything you do on the site goes into pending tables until the engine grabs it and audits it before placing it into the actual trades, withdraw, etc.   We are behind cloudflare and their waf appliance, we have had penetration testing done and continue to practice secure coding and server hardening procedures.

I can get more later Smiley

Rest assured that if you remember the email or username you provided we can find a way to get you back into your account, you will need to answer additional questions before I provide you with access for security purposes.
