Just checking the community's sentiment:

What are your views on the value of chips being tied to Bitcoin? Would you rather have it denominated in stable coins, etc., to prevent any losses on the price fluctuations?

Personally, I'm happy to accept the risk and would rather not see SwC moving from being a Bitcoin poker site to just a crypto poker site. But maybe it's just me. What are your thoughts on this?

Surely, the rate may vary, yet the majority of those who decide to visit a Bitcoin poker site are aware of and ready to accept volatility. By moving to stablecoins, the risk may be mitigated, but the essence of SwC will be stolen as well. So far as players know about good and bad days, it still makes sense to remain in Bitcoin-denominated in my opinion.

It is very rare to see a devoted Bitcoin poker site like SwC poker and the fact that they don't slack even when the price of Bitcoin seems to be going down. I have used SwC poker site before and everything there is well organized with all deposit transactions being converted to Bitcoin. Withdraw fee is cheap not like others that would want to suck you just because you wanna withdraw your money. Great casino!

~ it’s pretty costly to run a poker site. A friend of mine opened one several years ago, and after a couple of months he dropped the whole thing because it wasn’t profitable.
Since this is a poker side, there is definitely profit.

You mean, running a poker site is definitely profitable? I don't think so. I wasn't just making this up, when I said a friend of mine opened a poker site several years ago. He paid $10k to a guy who developed the back-end. It was a nice poker site. I played there every day with no technical issues whatsoever. He was running free rolls and stuff and there were 20 players on it in its peak, but never more than that. And at one point he decided to sell the site because he didn’t expect the business to be profitable in the future.

Even though I personally don't have a problem with it, I think it would also be nice to have the option to choose whether you want your chips to be pegged to Bitcoin's price or have them pegged to a stable coin, like USDT. For example, one USDT should be equal to maybe 100 chips or something, like 1 chips is equal to 1 cent, but I think it's going to create a lot of problems, like then the tables will also have to be different for each chip type, etc.

You mean, running a poker site is definitely profitable? I don't think so. I wasn't just making this up, when I said a friend of mine opened a poker site several years ago. 20 players in its peak? That sounds like a lack of marketing to me. If a platform is good, has no technical problems, has good customer service, etc., then I see no reason for why it wouldn't be profitable if it's marketed well. Your friend should have spent some money on marketing the platform, and should have worked in that area for some time at least, and I'm pretty sure the platform could do good. No business will start making you a lot of money in the initial stage, you will need to only be getting at least the expenses for the business and that's enough.

I think that it's okay. I've seen users before that were able to deposit in stable coins and I cannot figure it out why my account doesn't have it. But if SwC focuses on bitcoin=chip, that's good. It doesn't change the fun and style that every poker player here. Although we understand that when the market's too shaky, the deposited chips that we have there went down in value like this time that the price of bitcoin keeps on going down.

I may not be qualified to offer my opinion on this, as I only just created an account at SWC yesterday. However, I believe SWC's unique feature is its Bitcoin-based chips. It would be best to maintain this. Although the chip value will fluctuate with Bitcoin, I don't think that's a problem at all.

By the way, I was wondering how long it takes for the Bitcoin deposited to appear in SWC account?
Since yesterday, I've been trying out some freeroll games, and I'm starting to get curious about playing cash games.

Well, now sure if you know that or not but depositing stable coins is not problem since they use a 3rd party exchange provider so your coins will be swapped into btc while being deposited into your account.
I think it's ok to just stay bitcoin based, because it's always been that way, why change now. Fluctuations in price have also always been there, that's nothing new since the site exists for quite a while already and has seen a lot of bitcoin movements over the years.
It's crazy to see that I in the past have played at tables with 5000 or even 10000 chips buyin, back when the price was more moderate, haha.

Depositing money via Bitcoin does not take much time, only 1 confirmation is required. Depositing a currency other than bitcoin may take some time as it is accepted through a third party. But if you face any problem about this, then contact the team through Telegram. I have been depositing many times before but it has been credited to the account without any problem. If you are experienced in playing poker, then play cash games. Otherwise follow through freerolls, it might be a good medium for you.

That's totally crazy, considering the past right now even if the market is bad. But I guess those were the old days that most of us weren't really expecting of how the price will shoot to 6 digits.

If you want you can deposit stable coin no problem. However, there are certain minimum limits when depositing any other currency other than bitcoin. swc community is using side shift as third service, but i think it is very trusted. Because after contacting the swc community in the past they mentioned it. Using this third party service may take some time to make the deposit.

Yeah, I remember it in the past that there were users that would like to do it. Just like with my account, it's disabled but I've seen those users who were able to do that. So, I thought that it's not also available to others but I was wrong. This gives them an option that even if the price of bitcoin is going down, they have an option to deposit with stable coin and have it converted.

That means the system is not available in your account? If that's the case, really bad for you. This service has been available to me since I created the account. I use the web version via mobile and it works very well for me. I don't know what device you are using and whether it is an error for your account. However, if you want, you can use the web version through mobile. Maybe this service can work on your account.

Moreover after depositing any currency, chips are given based on the current price of value. So if you deposit BTC and others currency there is no problem.

BPC 100 Chip Ticket Satellite [1 Ticket GTD]

We need 3 more players to meet the minimum requirement of 4 players. I hope someone is interested.
On Fridays, I can't play calmly because sometimes I'm still working. Sometimes I play at night, but I can't focus because I'm sleepy. So I rarely take tournaments seriously. On Sunday nights, I sometimes have free time, although not always. Because sometimes extra work prevents me from relaxing.

If you're interested and have free time right now, then I've also signed up for this one. (BPC Event #44 Turbo Satellite [3 Seats GTD]) Maybe you can join us too.
And it will start in about an hour and a half from now. While waiting for it to start, I think joining the freeroll that is currently underway will be quite exciting. I am also playing right now.

@Leahized, it seems like we often end up at the same table in freerolls? Have you noticed that?  Grin

SwC being entirely Bitcoin-based is certainly a significant aspect of its identity, and that is what makes it stand out of many hybrid or stablecoin-based platforms. Sticking to BTC makes the experience of playing straightforward to those players that specifically decide to play poker in a Bitcoin environment and know about the volatility involved. Shifting to stablecoins could mitigate the price volatility, although it would also deprive long-time users of the motivation. Good news and positive comments concerning their organization and low withdrawal rates are also pleasant to hear since transparency and fair policies are far more important than any other thing. As long as they continue to do so, they can still make sense in their BTC-only model.

Grin

I've registered for the tournament, and I'm glad you've registered... I happen to be relaxing right now and I want to play poker. I rarely see you at the poker table and I want to see if you're good or not. I'm actually not that great, but right now I'm trying to be better and it seems I have to be patient because sometimes it's hard for me to win because I'm too hasty and always go all in... Grin

Currently, only four players have registered, including us. So we still need three more players. The minimum requirement is seven players. I hope the tournament won't be canceled due to a lack of registrants, which means we won't meet the minimum requirement.

I'm not very good at all. I just enjoy the fun of it.   Smiley

Well, it's all about having fun! Since I have some free time, I joined as well... just to see SwC poker tables again. Luckily, I had enough chips for buy-in.

See you at the tables... and who knows, maybe some of us will win, or at least be in the top 3! Good luck, guys & girls! Smiley

Good luck, buddy. You lasted from the beginning until now. That's amazing because you did it without re-entering.
I kept getting eliminated even after re-entering three times. But it was pretty fun.  Cheesy

@Kaliandra Looks like you gave up after two re-entries?   Grin

I intend to register for the next tournament. But it seems like I'm not in good shape. My hands are not very patient.  Tongue
