Procoin is shaping up to be a sleeper hit.

The Cryptorush market is receiving this coin well: https://cryptorush.in/index.php?p=trading&m=PCN&b=BTC

There are buy orders for 25 Satoshi.

Difficulty is only 0.758 so even low hash miners can earn. http://pcn.exploreblocks.com:2750/chain/Procoin

The profitability index on this one looks good. The dev is working behind the scenes to enhance the marketing and the backbone of services is improving.

Throw some hash at PCN: http://pcn.majorminers.com/

You won't be disappointed.

All of CrunchHarder's pools are 2%. The reason for this is we provide premium pools, which run on very high end dedicated servers all with RAID SSDs and full redundancy with pairs of servers in failover.

This means that that if you mine with us you get the best performance and stability. For example, even if we have a hardware failure, not only will you not lose any coins, you probably will not even notice because everything just keeps working as before.

Also, the two pool operators for CrunchHarder are themselves coin developers and miners. This means that you have access to technical support from individuals who not only understand how to run a pool but also understand exactly how cryptocurrencies work.

A Detailed Update Regarding ProCoin, Current Issues, And Its Future

Right now, ProCoin is just over a week old.  It had a good start despite some technical issues, but activity has dropped a lot.

Here's the bottom line:  I'm prepared to do pretty much whatever it takes to make this coin a significant long term success.  Now, you don't necessarily need to believe me, but I am putting in (and will continue to put in) a significant time and money investment into marketing and technical developments of the coin, and during 2014 it really is my intention for this coin to become much, MUCH, more high profile.

Getting over this initial slump is the first goal as this coin needs to be mined and invested in to survive, and thrive.

One big issue I feel right now is exchanges.  A lot of miners aren't interested in mining for the long term, but for quick profits.  Right now this isn't possible with ProCoin since it's only on one exchange and volume is very low.  As a priority, this coin needs to get onto a high volume exchange like Cryptsy.  I'll send in an email today to see if I can get ProCoin onto the voting board, but then I really will need your help with votes.

Version 1.1 of the coin is being sent to me later today and once that's all confirmed it will be placed online - new wallets and source.  This update won't affect the blockchain and you don't necessarily have to update wallets but it's recommended.

I haven't had many people contacting me to help with marketing tasks so I'll be looking after and running all that myself from now on, but I will also contact some marketers I know.  Ongoing marketing of this coin will include:

  • A press release will go out in the next week or two via PR Newswire
  • Guest posts on crypto and other blogs will start appearing
  • I'm going to start advertising on other forums/sites
  • The site blog will start to be updated much more regularly
  • The Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit accounts will be updated regularly
  • I'll also be doing other marketing tasks to help this coin stay visible in the market

And at the simplest level, once this coin does get on a decent exchange, get some trading volume, and gain in value a little, the pre-mine can then be used for spending on outsourcing marketing tasks and at that point a LOT more will happen for the coin, very quickly.

I work with a dev team for this coin, but I'm just one person and can only do so much as regards marketing.  The value of the pre-mine directly determines how much marketing work I can outsource, which has a direct effect on marketing results and visibility of the coin.

So the absolute highest priority for the coin right now is: get listed on Cryptsy

This will benefit everyone who currently holds ProCoin, who mines Procoin, and pools.

If you agree this is a good course of action, I'll really need your help with votes.

Let me know what you think about:

  • Your ideas on how to spread this coin further - get more people mining and also potentially investing for the long term
  • If you're happy (or not) to help this coin get listed on Cryptsy.  If you're not that's fine, but I'm just trying to work out the level of interest in this
  • Your ideas for how the coin can be developed upon moving forwards.  Interesting features that other coins have that can potentially be implemented into ProCoin.
  • And any other ideas you may have for helping this coin stand out in the market and thrive long term

Thanks very much for all your support so far, this really is just the beginning. Smiley

Those are all great ideas, except for going on Cryptsy the Coin Crippler.

I would honestly say that Cryptorush.in or Bittrex.com are sufficient to the task of gaining traction.

Since PCN is already listed on Cryptorush.in I think PCN is good in that respect.

I do agree that a community is required to push the development of any altcoin, including Procoin.

People currently have no problem mining PCN and selling on Cryptorush.in so the issue is building trade volume. All new coins I've watched recently that went to Crypsty and tanked hard. Plus the coin will have no volume and be lost in a see of money. The bribe you need to pay to be listed on Cryptsy could be used to develop an Android wallet or for giveaways. Anything, really, that would push the project forward.

I think it's also worth clarifying the market position of Procoin. Obviously its' for 'Professionals.' Who are these Pros? How can they use PCN to their advantage? If we can answer those questions as a community, we can add value and grow.

P2PHash is supporting the coin and our pool is still up and running, finding blocks: pcn.p2phash.com

If you want to expand the p2pool network and make your own node you can clone the repository I made: https://github.com/P2PHash/p2pool-procoin
I've just updated it with the new explorer.

Regarding cryptsy, maybe you could try to get on other exchanges too, like bittrex, atomic-trade, poloniex, etc. I like Cryptsy but it's difficult to get their attention.

You could try to make bounties for art or other stuff to promote the coin and make giveaway in other forums to get attention. Be careful though with your offer to give 20k for the next 20 responses, giveaway is not permitted at bitcointalk.

I think the most important thing is to clearly define what markets you are aiming and why your coin is different. Maybe try to contact some websites/organisations to support your coin or use your coin as payment.

I saw that on your logo it says "anonymously pay anyone", are you gonna make anonymous payments like what darkcoin is trying to do? If so maybe you could try to promote this feature and communicates about it.

Ok that's it, hope it helps Smiley

I agree that Bittrex is a good idea soon. It could help stabilize the coin price along with increased miner activity.

I'm happy with the price movement on Cryptorush.in.

Difficulty is VERY low. Only two miners with low hash on are on my pool now: http://pcn.majorminers.com/ and they're solving blocks.

A few more could get this humming.

Key points:

1) Create a market position based on a unique selling point.
2) Increase miner interest and wallet downloads.
3) Find vendor acceptance.
4) Increase market liquidity.

All of these issues will be addressed in coming weeks. I've spoken to the dev and he's legit. If we can attract more people to Team Procoin, there's no limit to what can be accomplished - and how much money can be made.

Thanks very much for this.  There's definitely a bounty for an Android wallet but no one's come forward for that yet.

I'll look into Bittrex and take your advice and steer well clear of Cryptsy for now. Smiley

I've stayed away from giveaways as I'm not sure how much they help - whether people just take them and sell them?

And it's still very early days, but I was thinking of ProCoin being somewhat business focused.  Need to clarify ideas on that, and in particular how they relate to the development plans (not just the marketing/branding).  Also I wanted this alt to be run professionally (I'm treating and investing in it like an actual business, since it is in fact an important part of my daily work) which may not be the case with all the alts. You're doing a great job. The team and community sort will build around the professional efforts.

The launch was fine - especially in comparison with other recent ones. You have handled the technical issue and kept your word.

That's more than most will do.

Let's remember: altcoins projects are a Marathon - not a sprint. As long as consistent effort and professionalism are put into the project, the rewards will surely follow.

You're right about the giveaways. It won't prove much. It will just help create more of a 'pump and dumper' mentality.

I'd like to see PCN around 200 and holding. I feel that's achievable, especially as miners realize that the difficulty is still low. Cryptorush and Bittrex will be two markets that can help increase trade volume at a realistic pace. Coins that follow this pattern while focusing on improving the core team and the coin's features are the only ones who will survive in this 'Launch A Minute' environment.

Keep you the great efforts!

Thanks for the detailed update. By posting that, you've shown that you have more dedication than 90% of the coin devs out there.

Having said that, I think you should focus solely on making the coin different, better, and more popular. That will solve the exchange problem itself. Don't try to artificially get Procoin added to exchanges; put in the work to make it a better coin and the exchanges will come.

Just my thoughts. I'm glad to be a part of the community, and if you need anything from me, as a pool op OR as a developer, let me know.

P.S. I've been creating and hosting paper wallets for other coins. I can do the same for Procoin if you'd like. It works better if you can get someone to create the wallet art.
