There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I own 212 CaiShen which I bought in mid April.
What is meant by "exchange"?  How?

Are they worthless now?  Dev, please elaborate.
Don't just tell me you destroyed 50 euros of my money.

What is your contingency plan for those of us who missed your games here?

Hear hear!  I'm in the same boat.  This reeks of scam.  I wasted weeks of mining.  No e-mails, no communication, no nothing. Just a sudden surprise saying our coins are worthless. These devs are scammers.  Another scamcoin...

LOL. People had so much warning. I try not to be too much of a dick to people on the internet... but... if you don't have the sense to keep an eye on your volatile investments, then you don't deserve much success. Stop crying and calling scam because YOU didn't pay attention.

Now admit you made a mistake and ask kindly if there's anything that can be done. Then maybe you'll get some help.

Also, re. scam: devs that are constantly creating new things and announcing new plans... coming up with great ideas and keeping us informed... yeah... real scammy...  Roll Eyes

Let's see, I think the devs gave about a month's notice of the switch.  That is like 2 years in the Crypto world....plus they didn't even charge transactions fees which means they had to pay Coin-Swap out of their own pocket.  It was on Twitter, Coin-Swap, Bitcointalk, and throughout the IRC from day to day, but I'm guessing that people wanted a postmarked letter in the mail.

Please do allow me some surprise ...

... I come back to a coin into which I invested (among MANY others,
and I do not check all if they decide to suddenly completely disappear),
just to notice that my 50 euros have been rendered 0 euros within six weeks.

Can you understand that a little bit?

ask kindly if there's anything that can be done. Then maybe you'll get some help.

Alright, I can see your point.

I now kindly ask what can be done.

What can be done?
My addresses are above.

Thanks a million.

The thing is - there was always going to be people missed out on the swap from CAI to CAIx. The way things were done it does not matter if everyone was watching like a hawk, there were more CAI mined than CAIx available. That simple fact makes it impossible for everybody to exchange - even if everyone had done so within the first couple of hours of the exchange becoming available.

As it is, many people don't watch the forums every day - why should they? If I am mining, I set my miner running and leave it for weeks at a time, just checking that it is still running (and I have monitors that email me if there is a problem!)

The simple way this could have been avoided would have been to either shut down the pools as soon as the total number of CAI mined was greater than CAIx available - or to set a block reward of zero at that point.

TheStuhlman offered to use his own mining rigs, electricity and time to help recover anyone's CAI mined before the 18th - however judging by the sheer number of miners still coming to the forum now, that process could take months - and I am not sure if the offer is still open. It is also a bit unfair on TheStuhlman - although if he does do this, I will be extremely grateful and it is in this hope that I am sticking with CAIx and mining on the multipool.

Rather than berating the miners that have lost out, as a community we should be discussing ways to fix the problem. If we are trying to attract new investors in the coin, the last thing they want to see when scanning the forums is a load of pissed off miners who feel scammed being slagged off by the community as a whole. Lets try to keep the forum constructive and push CAIx forward on a positive note!

I'm guessing it's SHA256 which won't net much in the way of BTC so you're probably getting proper payments.

Man with all these people who didn't pay attention enough to exchange their CAI on time it sure paid off to keep mining until the end.

I know I'm an asshole but I have to admit it gives a sense of satisfaction to see how people complain they weren't given proper warning of the CAIx switch when it was plain as day for a long ass time.  Those people deserve what they get....  Nothing!

On the other hand I have nothing but respect for someone who owns up to being short sighted and asks nicely if anything can be done.  You may wind up getting nothing but my respect but at least you got something out of it lol.
