Anyone believes in magic of numbers? Ankalaev has 11 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw, 1 no contest. 11-1-1-1 :D Is there anyone here who can read taro cards, talk with stars and universe, have vision to look into crystal ball for prediction? If there is such a guy, give us a hint for betting ;D I swear I will share my winnings  ;D

Jiri started this superstitious and witchcraft that Pereira used to defeat him. I'm not sure if that 11-1-1 will have an effect to Pereira but making him angry might just distract his strategy. That should work, Dricus seem to have a good wit that also distracts his opponents.

However for Pereira vs Ankalaev, the language barrier might just be a noise to them. They would need a translator to be able to insult each other but tomorrow they will just fight with their fight plans thats just it.

I'm still interested to see Jones fighting Tom, but time does not work in his favour. He hinted that he might retire too many times, and he only had tow fights in over 5 years, so people started perceiving him as semi-retiree. He's not really doing his part in keeping the hype alive.
But if it doesn't happen this summer and if they again drag things for too long, the interest could die off, and none of the parties will be seeing the profits they were expecting.

Jiri is not sane. Alex Pereira is simply another level. He is from Pataxó tribe. They have to be physically strong because for centuries, their life has been demanding physically active lifestyle and healthy diet (no unprocessed foods). People from tribes also have to be physically active from an early age. There is no doubt that Alex Pereira is on another level compared to other fighters. There is no magic or something similar involved into it (if there was magic, he would become President instead).

By the way, imagine Translators getting words personally and adding more insults to their translations Insulting with translators is very funny.

There were some suggestions floating around that it would be best for Ilia to fight Charles Oliveira first, to prove he's worthy a shot at the 155 belt. That wouldn't be a bad fight, but I think Ilia is more likely matched up with Islam. That's simply because Islam doesn't have any better option at the moment, and he previously said he doesn't want to waste his prime years sitting idle and wants to fight 3 times a year. So if Ilia was to fight someone else, Islam would probably not be willing to wait for him for another 6 months or so.

I think that would be the biggest fight the UFC could offer right now. Bigger than Jones Vs Aspinall, at least in my opinion.

Topiria vs Oliveira really would be an interesting fight to watch. Dont recall Topuria fighting someone with such great level of bjj. And Oliveira is no good at eating damage. Imho their potential fight will be quick. One mistake and Oliveira goes to sleep or Topuria taps.

Here are the weigh ins guys...  Everybody made weight.  I kinda thought the line would move towards Pereira's way as we get closer to fight day but it looks like almost nobody is touching the it.  The odds remain close and even.

And as far as underdogs go, I like Ferreira and Gaethje.

Topuria moved up to lightweight with featherweight champion status. I think he should be eligible to fight for the belt against Islam. There are many fighters who move up to world champion status and they can fight for the title. But Islam has the right not to accept the fight and Topuria must prove his level by fighting other elite fighters in the top 5 lightweights in the UFC. There are rumors about the Oliveira vs Topuria fight. Oliveira wants to return to being a belt challenger after losing to Arman. On the other hand, Topuria is looking for an opponent in his new class. Of course this could make this fight possible.

Topuria is also a BJJ black belt and, if we look at his career stats, his submission rate is actually better than Oliveira's, at 50%, calculated as fights won by submission divided by total career fights. The same ratio for Charles is 46%. Of course, to be fair to Charles, his fight count is MUCH higher and he has fought much more high profile opponents.
But I wouldn't dismiss Topuria's BJJ skills just because his most famous wins were won by knockouts.

Yup, that would be nonsense if that were true. Maybe (and that's a big maybe) it would be justified to put him at #2, just to penalise Jon Jones for long period of inactivity and cherry-picking an easy opponent in his last fight. That ranking is for active fighters after all.

TBH, I also scored the fight, and I went 48-47 in favor of Ankalaev as well. Nothing happened that much aside from leg kicks for the majority of the fight. I just don't like the change of style of Ankalaev from the 4th to the 5th round, but it's part of the fight.. Anyway, if you watched the whole fight, you will see that it can be anybody's fight, and tonight, it's Ankalaev's fight.

I'm thinking of 2 things for Pereira right now. Either have a rematch with Ankalaev for the light heavyweight championship, or he will do what he said months ago that he will face Du Plessis for the middleweight title. Congratulations to Ankalaev of course because he waited this for a long time. Has been the top contender for quite some time, and now he got it already.

DDP would be a good fight versus Pereira. I'd like to believe he is up to cut his weight than going to rematch. Pereira is too cautious of where this fight will go very defensive that he fakes a lot and leg kicks that didn't damage. The combo that hit Pereira definitely made points for Ankalaev, if not for that clinch, Alex would be on the ground.

A rematch is still possible. I didn't watch the octagon and post interview will just see if its on youtube later talkign about possibilities.

He easily pushed Alex Pereira and threw effective kicks, as you said Alex Pereira only threw low kicks and he was not very effective.
I think the best thing for him would be to drop to middleweight and face Du Plessis. He lost the title he defended for a long time, it will be another journey for him from now on.

To be honest, he isn't eligible to fight for the belt because he has to beat top contenders to fight the champion. It doesn't make sense to win the belt in your division, then beat another top guy, then move in higher division and ask for a title fight doesn't sound fair but the only reason why I'd advocate for his title fight is that Umar Nurmagomedov didn't deserve title fight and then these Dagestan fighters were saying like, deserve or don't deserve, who cares? It doesn't matter. So, since it doesn't matter, why does it matter now? Let's make the fight, Topuria Vs Islam, let's make it, who cares if Topuria deserves or doesn't deserve it? Let's fight!

At the moment, the only thing that I have to say about Pereira VS Ankalaev is that it ruined my day, I'm very depressed today. I even didn't sleep tonight to watch this game, I had so big hopes, I made a $1000 bet on Pereira and I lost it. I don't care about money as much as I wanted Alex Pereira to win simply because he is an amazing fighter and the fighter that I would love to watch every day. I hope there will be a rematch soon and he will come back. Today, we didn't see Pereira that we knew and that's shockingly terrible.

Yes, that's what we witnessed here, it was Ankalaev's aggressive in this fight. And his style as well, it confuses Alex to say the least and usually he is the one moving forward, and he only did that in round 5 and was very successful until Ankalaev catches him again in the corner for a clitch.

Although Alex's defense might be good, but still the judges see who is the aggressive and so it's easy to score the fight to Ankalaev.

For me, it might be better to rematch Ankalaev and see if he can bounce back from here and truly defines how his greatness or legacy will be.

It was a decent event even tho there weren't many known UFC 'commodities' in the under card...  So yeah, that's that for Pereira for now.  Let's see how Ankalaev does as champ in his next couple of fights.  I don't there are any top fighters at 205 that he hasn't fought.  It's just him and Pereira at the top now.  There's Prochazka but I don't think he'll be able to handle Ankalaev like he did Hill.

UFC 313 left strange feeling. Strange after taste after watching main fight... Probably because Pereira we saw wasnt usual Pereira. I think he has made less striking and action than in previous fights. I visualise Pereira as a fed cat. He isnt hugry, he does not want to purr or rub on your legs asking for food, nor he does not want to play. Regular food does not admire him anymore, and he is waiting for little shrimps. Ankalaev was usual Ankalaev, focused, pushing, cautious, aggressive, but without a sparkle. Co-main event was much better.

Ankalaev is not fighter like Jamahal Hill, Jiri Prochazka or Khalil Rountree who can be easily defeated by Pereira and I sad for the lost of the bet or you favorite fighter but at least this is fierce fighter even though Pereira lost you should still be happy because he did not experience KO from Ankalaev.
Pereira is considered the best UFC fighter and many people say this fight gives Pereira an advantage but well we can see how he has to lose the title and light heavyweight belt, but there is no need to be too disappointed with this lost because Dana said there is chance for rematch which even Pereira himself said he wants, it would be much more interesting if rematch for the title was done one day.

A bit of let down though a fan would really want something big to happen like a KO. However its Pereira that almost fall to the floor it he wasn't fast enough to grab Ankalaev.

If you are a fan of Ankalaev, I think you would also be expecting a KO from him too bad he couldn't also execute well for he knows one mistake he'd do, Pereira will send him down. Well the rematch is needed, we'll see what adjustments they do in the second fight.

Honestly I don't know if there is any indication that Dagestani fighters want the Islam vs Topuria fight since Topuria is from Georgia just like Mehrab? But if we talk about eligibility I think it would be unfair if fighters in other classes immediately fight for the belt in their new class even though they are world champions. But as far as I remember there was a fight like that, namely Adesanya vs Blachowiz at UFC 259 when UFC promoted a double champ for Adesanya. But of course it would be better if Topuria gave one proof. He could fight Oliveira who is looking to regain the right to fight for the belt. Or he could also fight Arman who is also looking to regain it.
Pereira's loss surprised many. Ankalaev is an aggressive fighter and he deserves to be a champion. But I think Ankalev has problems with ground strikes such as low kicks or calf kicks and Pereira is a Muay Thai master who is very good at foot strikes. I also hope the UFC will consider a rematch to give Pereira a chance or to prove that Ankalev is truly the undisputed champion by defeating Pereira twice.

As we have seen, Pereira may seemed to have control in the first round but his stamina may have weakened in the succeeding rounds. He may have not very good preparation for this fight as for me, he is not yet in the older level of fighters to say that his stamina is already weak. I would think that his camp was not well-prepared for this fight so UD for this is no surprise. But some analysts are favoring Pereira. They may have some bias but the lack of aggressiveness was clearly seen in this fight. And we saw such high energy from Ankalaev. So for me, he deserved the decision of judges.
I guess, a lot of bettors lost in this match. But with good prep, Pereira can beat Ankalaev. Just my opinion though.
