^  Yup...  But I wonder how Ferguson matches up with Gaethje tho.  I mean with all of Ferguson's training prolly laser focused on Khabib and his style and tendencies.

In addition, I wonder what preparation Gaethje did despite of the last minute call from Dana? Do you think is it enough to beat the Rank 1 contender? *sigh Why we come this far?  Everything seems not on its proper place so I'll not get shocked if we all get disappointed after watching the event .

Finally the mystery is revealed as to where the UFC 249 will take place, as per the reports it will take place in Tachi Palace Casino Resort in California and it is located in a tribal land and hence they will be able to overcome the restrictions imposed by the authorities and with that situation whether this event will be sanctioned by the California state athletic commission is to be seen and even if the UFC hands out the belt to the winner if it is not a sanctioned bout the commission will not recognize it and it will be off the records.

So the UFC will be the only sporting event that is taking place in the entire world in the past month and the location is determined but still there might be more hurdles to cross before the event actually takes place, if there is a restraining order by the court during this pandemic where ten thousand people already died in America and the situation is getting worse.

Rose Namajunas pulled out of the UFC 249 for an undisclosed reason (source) It's probably because of the COVID-19 threat or that she was not expecting to fight soon so she didn't prepare/train.

Yeah, that's the thing. It's not easy to work on new strategies on short notice no matter how good you are. I don't really know but since they both love to strike and knock people out, we can expect another bloody stand up fight. Tony has slick submissions though and that could make the difference in this fight.

It is possible that he is doing this, but I have to give him a credit because he is determined to make this next UFC event happen even during global pandemic.

These situations cannot be scripted, this fight with Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje will be really interesting because of their contrasting fighting styles and hopefully Justin Bieber will be the special guest referee 
If Just Gaethje wins then all the plans for a high profile fight against Khabib and Tony will vanish, the winner of this fight will face Khabib to unify the title.

Khabib gave an interview with ESPN and he said Dana White said to Khabib to fly to Dubai as the fight might take place in Dubai and then once Khabib was not allowed to land in Dubai he was forced to move to Russia and Dana did not respond to him after that as they do not have a location where the fight takes place, so you really cannot blame Khabib as we have no idea where the fights takes place rather than rumors about the location.

UFC 249 prolly has started as one of the most anticipated events of the year...  To becoming like a filler event between events. 

I don't mind Ferguson vs Gaethje tho.  It's better than nothing.

^ Welp, that's what you get when you decide to do things and not talk to all parties involved. He wasn't swayed by the health concerns raised by many and all it took was an order to stand down from Disney & ESPN executives (ESPN is the exclusive pay-per-view distributor of UFC events). At the end of the day, it's still the money who talks to Dana 

Looking forward to May and the Fight Island. Hopefully, the pandemic will be contained by that time.

The ego of Dana White is crushed by the media executives and just now he came to know about the COVID 19 pandemic . Even earlier i said that the reason Dana is adament to carry on with the event is because of money even though he was saying he had the money and he does not need money, but the company needs money and for that they need to put out fights and now the media executives might have come to a conclusion that they will compensate something and it would be risky and there will be backlash if something wrong happens everyone will take the blame and it will not be good for business in the long run.

In the words of Khabib, i am Khabib and not Corona Virus to control this fight . Send me the location when things are normal.

That is the case with every business and sporting brands that were forced to shut down, everyone complied to the situation but Dana White was the only business man who wanted to carry on with the event. The entire world is shut down and many are undergoing a big loss, you and me are sitting at home i guess about your situation, for me i am sitting at home as there is nothing out there and everyone is forced to comply.

It depends upon when things become normal, from what i understand Khabib will be back by August and since the fight is already announced if Khabib is not available then let them go ahead with Gaethje and Tony. Let Conor go ahead with Nate Diaz trilogy.

He should just do this Fight Island thing himself if ESPN doesn't want in and stream it direct on the UFC fight pass. I'm sure that would be huge business for him. I could see a special fight like that attracting some big names as it will be the first of it's kind if it goes ahead.

Dana White is worth hundreds of millions so he's right when he says he doesn't need the money, but would you expect any CEO or figurehead of a business to just give up on the company they're involved with? You can't deny Dana's passion for the sport and it's admirable that he's even trying to get something going rather than just staying at home in his mansion waiting for things to blow over as what is happening with most sports. Dana knows that this fight could happen as logistical it's possible with minimum amount of people so he's doing his best to make it happen as he also knows there's a lot of demand from fans for it. I hope he continues to try get something done because the world could do with some entertainment right now.

I was expecting that the fight would take place as there is nothing else to watch even though there was the risk but if Dana was confident that he was taking every precautions to make sure everyone is fine i thought the fight would take place, the truth is everyone is bored as you have plenty of time but nothing else to do, no live sport nor other entertainment and the only options is to watch past events and movies and now i am bored watching movies. If they restart the event i am expecting Dana to come up with back to back events.

Well, it's less frustrating to me already because I accepted such tendency the moment Khabib was stucked on their community quarantine. But still, it was so disappointing and blame the universe why Khabib vs Ferguson seems impossible to happen . But I hope they will meet soon to see who is the real goat in the Lightweight division.

I don't think he'll do anything without ESPN's 'ok'.  That would be a bad business move on his part.  The best move would be not to move.  Just stay put until all the bs is over.  We could see a flattening of the curve in a couple of weeks or so.

And a california senator has also made a public statement to disapprove it.

And a california senator has also made a public statement to disapprove it.

So the government intervened to cancel the event even though you have private island and no jurisdiction the authorities will always find a way to shut things. I think if the Fertitta brothers were still owning the company they might find a solution.

Conducting the fight was not easy but they would have taken the fighters with the help of private jets, Dana White was not willing to disclose the place of the event was because he knew that the authorities will try to shut it down and now once the destination was revealed that happened.
