I also remember in 2017 there was another YouTube channel which was geared towards Automotive content. Basically it was some 16 year old kid driving around in a Lambo and showing off his vehicles, called JR garage or something.

Icing on the cake was when all of a sudden his channel took a drastic turn from automotive content into financial advice. And basically instead of investing in quality coins like BTC and ETH they promoted shitcoins like Pac-Man Coin and the like.

They also knew nothing about the mid cap coins they promoted like ADA or XRP. They basically said and I still remember this to this day “Ripple is the most decentralized coin on the market, more decentralized than Bitcoin”. I think like a week or month later we hit the market top.

But when we start seeing chefs, mechanics, and hair stylists promoting crypto on their YouTube channel. Means we are nearing the top one way or another.

There is a story about NYC cab drivers giving stock advice in 1999 (or so); some of you remember what happened next...


Now, I'm not saying that is going to happen...I (we?) have no idea what will happen tomorrow or next week or next year.

haha yah those guys were classic.  I remember one video where they flew their "private jet" down to pick up some 17 year crypto millionaire, who was the biggest nerd in the world. Basically the channel was like Growing up Gotti meets crypto

But My advice is simple buy the dip.

Not buying it back today

This week I get 5 omen pc's with 3070's in them 1 is mine I will mange the other 4

I also get a PNY 3090 which is mine.

I also should 1x 3080 for 1600,  It mined from Nov 17 to March 17 the day I drop it off. So it earned about 1200 usd and cost under 90 to run.  260 x 24 = 7 kwatts x 120 days = 840 kwatts x 10 cents = 84  bucks make it 100

so 1200-100 = 1100 I paid just over 800 so I was up about 300 bucks on it and just grabbed 1600  = 1900 profit

I had a six month to pay deal with zero interest. So it was a painless buy for me back in November.

So this was a hedge.  I am burning 8 x 24 = 192 say 200 kwatts a day. For all the eth gpus.

Many ways to calculate  my power cost I will say 5 cents a kwatt so 10 bucks a day to run 2500mh earning about 250 a day.

Selling the 1 gpu and cashing the 2000 btc at 60k+ gives me 3600/10 = 360 or 1 year of paid off power for all my gpus.

If the tumble continues this week so be it  if a bounce back happens cool.

I hedged a bit over the weekend. So I can handle a drop.

I personally have no short term crash in site.(next 60 days)  But then again I did hedge 3600 usd over the weekend.


By the way nvidia mining cards will be available in June. 90 days from now  they concern me a bit.

These cards will relate in June and crush the hash rate and along comes a fee drop in July.

That will slow profits up.  But I still see coins rising in price.

I have a new speculation theory as to why bitcoin hash rate is not higher.

Unfortunately it involves eth and eth mining here goes.

If you are bitmain and now have 3 huge contracts for cloud mining started this year.  you have x megawatts.

you look at $$$ per watt.

a s19 pro does 110 th at 40 cents uses 3300 watts or 80 kwatts at 5 cents.

this is 44 usd at 4 dollars power net 40.

an eth asic miner does 2700 mh at 3300 watts.

that is 270 usd and the same 4 dollars in power or 266 net.

eth hash rate grows like a motherfucker.

BTC hash rate grows slow.

eth prices kept down as you need to sell all the eth to get the btc to pay the btc cloud contracts.

we know bitmain can make an eth miner
we know bitmain can make a btc miner.

by doing the above they generate 270 usd worth of btc for 4 dollars power.

they keep btc hash rate down.
they please all btc cloud contracts.
they raise btc price as they buy btc with the eth they mine
they raise eth hash rate like mad
this also lower eth price.

everything above they can do
no one checks their cloud mining.

I like it and in fact hope they are doing it as I do not like eth much.

I really would like this to stay here as if true it is directly improving btc  price with out more HASHRATE INCREASING.

Dec 31st 2020  hashrate was 142.725

March 12 2021 hashrate was 155.997

so 13,272,000 th was added this year.

my point is per watt if bitmain builds a 3300 watt 2000 mh eth miner

it earns 200 usd for 3300 watts

the s19pro earns 44 usd for 3300 watts.

bitmain has sold a ton of cloud contracts in Jan feb march of this year.

yet hashrate has only jumped 10 percent

I think bitmain is doing what i do mining eth at lower power cost to buy btc.

if i sell you a btc contract that pays you 44 usd worth of btc.

and use the money to mine eth that pays me 200usd i pocket 156 usd in either btc or eth or cash.

the btc cloud guy gets his 44 usd .

this is very likely a factor that is rising btc prices

and lowering eth prices while it slows btc diff and speeds eth diff.

if i am bitmain i can build an eth miner or a s19 pro

both burn 3300 watts.

the eth miner makes 200 a day
the btc miner makes  44 a day.

which miner do i want to build? right here right now the eth miner.

well i would think 🤔 bitmain’s ability to make an eth miner would be under six months.

since there are two actual real eth miners that do

2700mh and 3300 watts
2000mh and 3300 watts

i would be pretty sure they could knock one off quickly.

the massive hashrate increase in eth since jan 1 shows it was done
the 3300 watts gets me 200-270 usd mining eth shows it was done
the slower hashrate increase in btc shows it was done.
i certainly would want to get 200-270 usd for 3300 watts.
rather than 44 usd for 3300 watts.

my mining is gear limited and space limited
i have 700 to 800 amps at 240 volts
soon to be 1600 amps at 240 volts
lots of space starting next sat.

I simply do not have much of any gear.
I will be at 25% capacity once the new power comes on line.

For me I do exactly this whenever I can get “cheap” prices I buy the gear no questions asked.
last week I found 1 highend gpu at msrp. i purchased it.

all gear leads me to btc.
so gpu at msrp mining eth and converting to btc is the exact same as
a cheap 256 asic miner. directly mining btc.

unfortunately the lead mod here does not agree with me on this.
good chance this gets deleted.

but reality is simple.
watts to coin is the heart 💜 of mining ⛏

and 3300 watts to 200-270 usd worth of coin is better than
3300 watts to 44 usd worth of coin.

i do three types of pow mining so I can juggle ltc/doge and btc and gpu/eth

bitmain certainly is doing this as it all fits. really well.
I have not purchased an asic for btc since we preordered one s19pro for 2500.

Phill as I said earlier, I do like the theory and I see the logic, but with Bitmain stuck in a few contracts to deliver tens of thousands of bitcoin mining gears which they have not delivered even half, don't you think that will make it difficult for them to focus on something else, at least the size you anticipate.

Seems like Linus tech is in a bit of hot water because of the "MINE CRYPTO BEFORE ITS TOO LATE" video they posted yesterday. Basically they got like 51K likes but 19K dislikes which is a substantial amount of dislikes for a typical video they post. Generally most of the videos they post get great amount of likes ratio.

Anyways people are upset because of the environmental impact that it poses with all the wasted electricity and also the GPU shortages everywhere which causes people to have to either wait months to get a GPU or basically overpay for an old RX 470 4GB since there is nothing else out there for sale.

They defence was that the video was aimed more for people who already have a gaming PC and they can just use Nicehash to recoup some of their hardware cost, however whether they own the GPU or not it still poses an environmental impact.

According to the comments, "mining is evil" and he has joined the dark side instead of fighting for it. Also alot of comments about Nicehash how they are shady and how the CEO was imprisoned.

Nvidia was expecting the new mining cards to bring in about $15 million in USD sales this month.  This was a quote I read from I think an earnings call with the CEO and CFO.  What they didn't say was if the cards would be delivered this month or just the revenue booked.

The 30hx is the lowest of the cards and mines like a 1660 super with Nvidia saying it gets 26 mhs on eth.

At $525 for 26-30 mhs a card outside of getting quantity for a medium to midsize farm these aren't attractive to me as a small 13 gpu miner.  If I was an industrial miner with low power and a lot of space I may be interested to scale up quicker.

1660 super and TI MSRP pricing is in the $299-$400 right now but go for $100-150 more on eBay so in line with the $525 the vendor Phil referenced is charging.

Anyone that thinks mining wastes power should smash their skull with a hammer.

mining creates an incentive to upgrade to solar power  = truth
mining creates an incentive to up grade to wind power = truth

mis use and abuse of coal and oil is encourage by most governments

most people don't understand  how coal and oil get constant subsidies from corrupt governments work wide.


My best example is coal strip mining in USA.

here is a map of just some strip mining damage

coal companies have been  allowed to leave the mountains naked and stripped bare.
no repair of  the damage done.  And the coal goes poof once it is burned up.
A huge massive subsidy for coal.  How about forcing the coal company to build solar arrays and leave something for the future. Nope. And the worst is you could use the arrays to mine with the gpus.  Thus more gpus = more incentive to build the arrays repairing the mountain side and making up for vanishing and destroying the energy of the coal being burnt.


So the reality is embracing mining for what it is a huge opportunity to repair the damage of coal being stripped mined instead becomes a moron greenspeak idiot saying mining coins wastes power.

When in fact the government does not set up a simple plan of repairing the mount damage and gaining a new source of enegery. using the coin mining to help with financing it all.

Those environmental impact stories recently are ridiculous.  And sadly they are a result of the dying news media and every single site fighting each other for page clicks.  One site does a story about it and everyone else piles on and writes the same exact thing.  None of it is newsworthy, most of it is false, and nearly all of the writers have zero grasp of bitcoin, its deflation, and what drives the value.  Luckily beyond the clickbaters and other people who are sore that they still haven't bought any bitcoin, the average investor or person could care less about the environmental impact.  Certainly the impact is no worse than all of the labor and equipment that goes into mining gold and diamonds

Do you think the prices for those 2 GPUS are worth it?

I saved one of your "price guide" posts from mid-february, wondering if your opinion has changed.  It was:

3080 under 800 yes
3070 under 675 yes
3060ti under 500 yes

cards are harder to get then February  and you are pulling those numbers out of context a bit if I recall the person was describing whether to start from beginning.

At the moment I sold a 3080 used with2 years 8 months on warranty for 1600 usd paid in ltc. Same unit was going for 2100 + tax on ebay used. with no real certainty of warranty.

My card is registered at evga.

would I personally buy a 3080 card at 1600 no

but I did buy 1 at 1300 10 days ago. Which is a lot higher than the 800 I mentioned in the older thread.

If I win the shuffle I will buy the 3090 not sure I will buy the 3060.

Thanks for the reply, yah I think it might have been someone asking for their first rig.  I didn't take your numbers as the set in stone gospel truth, but I still saved them because I thought it was a good reference. My biggest concern with the 3090 is that 3080 ti that is allegedly coming out. By the way,  I subscribe to Ebay Terapeak, so I can see a good history of what things have sold for, these prices are crazy:

I currently have one 5700 XT that I just sent out to RMA and the one and only 3080 that I have is misbehaving.  It keeps disappearing from the system even though it is plugged directly into the main 16x PCIe slot.  It was originally in the second 16x slot and doing that so I moved it to the primary.  I'm afraid that this card is on it's way out.  Sometimes a cold boot brings it back to life sometimes it doesn't as I have one of those smart plugs attached to it.  Makes me sad.  Also not selected for the shuffle.

Yeah that really doesn't make any sense to me.  the 30HX hashes at what did they say like 25mhs?  I really don't see why people would buy those.
