With grin 29 fork. What do I need to do to get my simple Mining back on track.?

I pointed my 1080ti to bci for last few days.

Would prefer to mine grin

Phil,

Gminer since v1.51 supports the fork - see GITHUB
SMOS has v1.52 updated.

1.51
@develsoftware develsoftware released this 6 days ago
added Cuckarood29 algorithm for Nvidia cards (use --algo grin29 for autoswitch after hardfork)

I am getting old simply can't remember shit.

So I had an old bminer 14.0  and fork killed it off.

I loaded bminer 15.7.2  and I get rejected shares.

I am remote to these rigs.  So 15.7.2 does not work.

There is a miner called nbminer-nebutech that seems to be quite popular too. Maybe this miner can do NH.

If you ever want to go back to bminer 15.7.2, I got the same (rejected shares), but the solution is simple:
make sure that you specified cuckaroo29d instead of cuckaroo29 (note extra "d") in your bminer string.
After that it worked fine (no rejected shares).

With 1080ti you should mine Grin31. I'm mining on Nicehash and it seems more profitable than Grin29.

There is a miner called nbminer-nebutech that seems to be quite popular too. Maybe this miner can do NH.

Its cool I am happy with f2pool

With 1080ti you should mine Grin31. I'm mining on Nicehash and it seems more profitable than Grin29.

Yes, maybe 10% more if you don't count higher wattage (which is also about 10%).
Fans are much more active on cuckatoo31, and I have cards in the house.
Not a biggie. I tried, then went back to 29d just for more comfort.

No idea if any of you guys still have your R9 290 GPUs, but turns out you can still use them to mine ETH.

About a year ago I turned mine off because as the DAG grew the hashrate kept slowing down, and the power usage mostly stayed the same.

However now I learnt that its not the same bug that affected the R9 280X GPUs, its something with the Windows drivers and/or Claymore. So on Linux you can use another ETH miner like PhoenixMiner and get the regular 30MH/s rate back. Sure they are powerhogs but Winter will come in a few months and we can put some of them to use again; I almost sold mine on eBay and glad I kept them.

I have "retired" R9-390-8GBs, all 25 of them boxed up, never sold them and still in store room.

These old faithfuls have been ROIed several times during the ETH days circa 2015-2016.

I am tempted to revive these guys and do some testing like adaseb mentioned above.

Any low power mining worthwhile doing before I risk getting a sore back pulling those boxes out from the store room?

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Basically there is a thread going on for this GPU at
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2586323.0

You can mine GRIN and get like 2.5-2.7GPS, and the poster claims it uses less power than ETH but not sure how much. I have mine still boxed up like you and didn't power it up yet myself so didn't test.

Most likely will wait until the Winter before I plug these bad boys in, I highly doubt they will come close to efficency as an RX 470 however.

Hopefully things clean up for you phil!   being without power and internet can be a real pain;  especially in our lines of work!

Power is up.  Have to say the two small generators I had were very good at keeping house working.

Power is up.  Have to say the two small generators I had were very good at keeping house working.

look into a transfer switch and genset that can run most o your house.

my 7,000 watt transfer switch with an 8,500 watt genset can power everything but the electric stove (we use an electric hotplate) and electric dryer (go without it).

but the well, hvac, fridge hotwater, lights, electronics (no miners though) all most important COFFEE MACHINE.

just one cable from (keystart) genset to house and flip the xfer switch. did it so the wife could do it if im not here.
