They're probably limiting because of the pandemic.  They're considered essential (They've been open since the beginning of the lock down) because everyone now needed a computer, or two or more.   limited supplies.

I don't think they are limiting because of the pandemic. Usually when stores are limiting due to COVID19 its usually the amount of people inside the store so its not crowded or they are limiting sales on certain essential and low stock goods like toilet paper, hand sanitzier, Lysol wipes, etc. A gaming GPU is no way considered essential. You don't need a high end GPU like that to go to school or do business.

I also checked my Craiglist area and there isn't too many overpriced GPUs listed yet. You could essentially buy up an entire farm and pay good second hand prices for GPUs. I think unless BTC breaks $20K or ETH breaks $ 1400 and we are seeing $10/day/GPU I don't think there will be any GPU shortages yet.

it has nothing to do with the amount of people in the stores... it has to do with demand.   with the coming of age of smart phones, people were less likely to own a computers.  But because of the pandemic, everyone is now working from home, so now people are needing computers at home to do work, and in addition you now have kids doing school from home.   You need computers with monitors to effectively do this.

it's not the components themselves that are considered essential, it's the industry as a whole that is considered essential.  They don't consider what's essential on a component by component basis, but an industry as a whole.

Loving the mining numbers for the last 16 hours.  Hope it lasts for a few months lol.

Hating the bots though.

Had a 3080 in my cart with Newegg, Nvidia, EVGA, and Best Buy over the morning hours.  Best Buy couldn't check out and it would remove it (happened with the ps5 to).  Newegg's server crashed with 1 in my cart.  EVGA was like trying to buy at the start of their weekly sale just impossible.  And Nvidia I got stuck at the checking out phase and then they were gone.

Got an order through last night for a Gigabyte eagle 3080 and today it shows an expected ship date of 11-2.

Yeah the sniping bots and general lag on sites during checkout for 3080's is nuts.  Hopefully we get some trustworthy testing done today though.

I never like gigabyte cards.

And i missed every shot at getting one today.🤣

man 11-2 for the card.

so you tie up around 700 for 45 days.

I am glad i could not order any.

I am mining away with my cards. today was a good day. made around eighty bucks.

Didn't nab any either but I did try... however after seeing these numbers I think the 3070 going to be the better bang for the buck card when it releases.

Also not a fan of Gigabyte, too many failed fans from their sleeve bearings...

Only 22 of my Gigabyte Sapphire RX480-8GBs (Blower Version) made it to the mining cave, joining the 1080ti, P106, 1060, Vegas64 & 56.

I maxed all my circuits. And I gave up my other warehouse already.

44 x RX480-8GBs left sitting idle..... how much could I sell them during a GPU shortage?

Had a nice surprise this morning... opened my Metamask wallet (via Uniswap) and Uniswap gave me 400 UNI tokens.

Yes its pretty crazy how it just hit $5. So basically $2000 for free pretty much. Last night I was watching it on Binance and I assumed it would go at least under $1 since every few seconds you could see how every market sell order was for 400UNI, so pretty much people were rushing just to cash in on their air drop.

This reminds me of Bitcoin Cash. Remember when it launched back in Aug 2017? At first it had a price of $300 or so and people were dumping it like crazy and saying "free money" and then all of a sudden 3-4 weeks later it pumped to like $900. A few months after that with the Coinbase listing it made it $3K (if I recall). So this UNI airdrop price action tells me that there is huge demand for UNI and might as well hold it for now.

new in box ! 190 + 10 to ship
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SAPPHIRE-AMD-Nitro-Radeon-RX-480-8gb-Gddr5/363088066711?

Based on the above

I would sell a lot of 10 for 1250 usd in btc

Once deal is done I would list a second lot of 10 at 1350 usd in btc

Once deal is done I would list third lot of 10 at 1450 usd in btc

leaving me with 14 left.  I would hold and hope for  moon shot. maybe getting 200 a card for them.

but bolded type above I would do today.  Worst case is they sell in like 10 minutes

then you know you can bump price for next listing .

pricing wars are starting to happen

my source for rx 5500 (dell) jumped price on the visiontex from 191 to 255

amazon has no new amd 5700xt under 400

Newegg has a few 5700 under 400

best buy all are over 400

How easy is it to sell in the marketplace here?
I have about 30 Polaris 4GB cards that I need to sell and am looking at my best options. Will probably have to give up mining starting next year anyway, since I will be moving and not have basically free power anymore.

If they were 8gb they would sell pretty easy. 4gb will be hard to sell.

I have escrowed a lot for many people. If you use an escrow and have a decent product at a decent price it sells.

So
1) you have to undercut ebay prices
2) use an escrow until you are established.
3) have a good product people want

1 and 2 you can do

3 maybe not as 4gb are not going to be wanted.

Now I am unaware of how to use your 4gb  cards to mine once eth stops using them In nov. Maybe there is a use for them .

I have to be contented with 42mhs@160w because I dont have enough circuits to go around.

You can hit 46-48mhs but that takes too much power, and will open another can of worms with PSU, cables, heat etc.

With ETH mining so juicy now, most important IMHO is steady, consistent shares to pool, without any rejects and no problematics rigs (esp with 8 or more GPUs)

Got it, your strategy is safe and wise.

I will be posting around next week, unfortunately only to Singapore market so that I dont have to deal with shipping etc.

I am so happy that I kept these blower stlye RX480s - they are built like a tank and still does 29-32Mhs with some tweaking and can hit 33-34Mhs with modded BIOS.

Yeah, maybe I should just sell them on EBay. Got the super cheap (less than 50 bucks) and have multiply ROId. Might be able to get 50 bucks back for them.

Phil,

I picked up a 5600 (the deal you linked to on Newegg), to play with to see if I want to get more.

Did you update your BIOS or just run them like they came? (I didn't see where a BIOS was available for this particular SKU)

I tried it on HiveOS and it would only hash at 13MH @45W.  Kinda weird.  Threw it on a Win10 rig and got around 40MH.  Not sure about power usage since HWiNFO is reporting about 90W, but Awesome Miner (AM) is showing around 115W.  Not sure which is right...  This is using the settings you recommended.

Might try putting it on a SMOS rig next to see what I get.  I'm mostly running Ubuntu 20.04 on my rigs and controlling them from AM.  I purchased a 20 rig license back in 2017 before Patrick went monthly fee per rig like everyone else.

Almost scored a 3080 yesterday.  Had it in my cart at nvidia.com, but when I got my payment info entered and submitted, I got an error that my address could not be left blank.  (it was not blank)  I guess server issues.  Will keep F5'ing over the weekend and into early next week, and then turn my attention to the 3090 if I don't score by then.  lol

ps.  Still on the fence about selling my GTX 1000 GPUs.  Made almost $160 with them yesterday...

I'm in the same boat, I have 130 gpus half  GTX 1000 GPUs.  Temping to replace them with RX 5600 xts, I could increase my revenue a decent amount and not raise my electrical cost.  I'm maxed out on a 100 amp 240 line, so its increase efficiency or find a cheaper place to host the 1000 series GTXs and add the new cards to my farm.  How long will the 1000 series cards be profitable?

Almost scored a 3080 yesterday.  Had it in my cart at nvidia.com, but when I got my payment info entered and submitted, I got an error that my address could not be left blank.  (it was not blank)  I guess server issues.  Will keep F5'ing over the weekend and into early next week, and then turn my attention to the 3090 if I don't score by then.  lol

ps.  Still on the fence about selling my GTX 1000 GPUs.  Made almost $160 with them yesterday...

they do 39-41 on smos. 85 watts on smos but more at the wall.

yeah tough to sell all your 1080ti's. but putting some up for sale could work.

I think 3 for 900. should sell fast on marketplace. It can't hurt to list 3 that way.

I am having a network issue a lot of my smos rigs went down.

but  I have optimum and Verizon at the farm.

So I am driving up there to move the 10 gpu rigs to optimum .  there are 75 asics on the Verizon and now 10 smos I think I want all smos on the optimum

I'm in the same boat, I have 130 gpus half  GTX 1000 GPUs.  Tempting to replace them with RX 5600 xts, I could increase my revenue a decent amount and not raise my electrical cost.  I'm maxed out on a 100 amp 240 line, so its increase efficiency or find a cheaper place to host the 1000 series GTXs and add the new cards to my farm.  How long will the 1000 series cards be profitable?

List some of the 65 gtx 1000 series can't hurt to sell some.

List 5 of them.
