I personally do not believe this statistics that 99% of ICOs are scam, because some ICOs fail do not mean they are all scam. I usually tell people that starting an ICO is like starting a new business, it might succeed immediately, it might fail presently but have a great future and it might fail totally beyond redemption. So because a project is failing to perform presently or fail totally do not mean it is a scam. Don't get me wrong here, I never said there are no scam projects but the rate is not as high as alleged. Judging a project based on its first few years is wrong, give it time to realize its potentials.
you are right, not all ICOs are scam but since even the good projects can't succeed anymore because of lack of funding many now think they are all scams. I have read many post here related to such topics where people say ICOs are scam

Projects can suceed even without ICO , there is plenty of examples . One of them is Energi , look the graph and they had no ICO and no Premine . Novadays projects usually don't burn tokens / coin and keep for the project himself . I usually don't participate in ICO's and one of the reasons is not keeping the promises and token/coin freezing / locks

I also have the same strategy as you. we can see, the founder's promise is really garbage. For a trivial project, they never keep their promises and constantly delay the distribution and I'm very upset about it.
For projects that do not have good partners or do not have available funds, it will be very difficult to succeed in the crypto market. Therefore investing in such projects is risky.

Maybe with this IEO trend, can bring back investor's trust about new projects. But for note that investor know when to take profit their investment because from what i learn, hold new tokens for long time is not really good.

And there is. Judging by the fact that the demand for some IEOs will exceed supply by 10 times, we can say that part of the trust has been returned. However, not every one of us will be able to participate in sales due to limited supply.
now IEO reminds me of how people invested in ICO in 2017. just not everyone managed to buy and tried to participate in all of them. but as we see it did not guarantee the quality of the project
Hype really always make people attracted. And we can see it as bad or good things depends on what side we see it. Quality of project is not guarantee but maybe with help from exchanger that held it, make a little difference.

a very important role is played the exchange on which the project listing. if the project is trying to raise funds on some kind of secondary exchange, then nothing good will happens

I have often said that not all ICOs are scams. Because until now I have found a lot of good ICO and the possibility of great success. So, if a lot of people say that ICO scams don't really matter. But it must be remembered that "Not all ICOs are SCAMs"
sure i agree with you and owner of this thread that mean not all of ICO is just scam project.
don't you ever believe ever people said if ICO is 90% scam.
i do my own research and i find a success ICO is hit 45%, so almost half of ICO is real.
the problem is we can't do research first and just join when it have a big promotion like bonus until 60%.
so becarefull is needed if you join ICO.

Of course everyone decides to participate in the ICO or not and this applies to everyone from investors to bounty hunters. Probably there are no people for whom participation in the ICO would be completely successful. All faced with fraud just someone more someone less.

Such thoughts must be prioritized in assessing something especially about cryptocurrency. I once thought after the IEO emerged, then ICO was a lot of scams. The failed project has something to do with ICO. At least I have learned from all the projects that I have participated in.

In my opinion i wouldn't conclude yet all ICOs are scam . There are good projects with unique design and quality products.  If you judge easily on how a project works you might miss out.

True talk pal, most ICOs are like wolves in sheep coats, total scam but can we absolutely base on that and deduce that all ICOs are scam projects, hell no. There are some ICOs that are really real or legit projects out there and the fact that they might be struggling in their first years does not make them scam projects so lets not be quick in judging any single project or ICO.

Yes, what you say is true. because the so-called ICO that is a scam is the ICO which aims to not only cheat. so if the ICO fails it does not mean they are a scam, because to realize the success of an ICO it takes a variety of factors. including good teams, sales that are successful and others should be. but don't believe too much in the occurrence of ICO, because there are also projects that succeed at 99% ICO but they end up scam and disappear somewhere .. There is a new one called 100% scam ... choose ICO which you think is the best

I think you definitely need to be judgmental about ICOs. The way ICOs have been looting people back in 2018 could not be forgotten and I think it is very important to be judgmental when it comes to investing money in ICO. If you are getting profits out of the tokens in an ICO, you should go for it otherwise better put the money in an IEO.

Of course, there are exceptions among the ICO. Good projects still remain and they continue to appear until now. You just have to be able to distinguish them from other many scam projects.

Maybe developer should be more focus on that. Because market is really important, btw fun thing is some ICO that i see in their telegram, investor ask about market and not really care about product.

Believe me, almost all cryptocurrency at the moment is a scam. All exchanges draw volumes, prices rise and fall for some reason. Projects appear and disappear. Everyone wants to make money here and now.

So are ICOs dead? My verdict is no. My cryptocurrency predictions 2019 edition are that the industry will only adapt to new challenges and provide real value to the community of investors. Many opportunities in the blockchain industry have yet to be applied at all. As a matter of fact, we can mention the Non-Fungible Tokens called NFT.

Well on the other hand, I tend to believe such statistics.
I have participated in ICOs which didn't turn out great so is my friends. Most will come with good plans, but once sales finishes you starts hearing funny stories; having this at the back of my mind I now see reasons why most people are going and keeps going for IEOs.
ICOs missed it and IEOs are serving investors right. Nevertheless, due diligence is needed at all times.

ICO nowadays was tagged as unreliable due to scam related accusations. But we should look back when time that ICO has given people a chance to gain more profit than traditional businesses. Judging it based on what it is right now is not a healthy idea but somehow feared by most investors especially those who are victimized by scam projects.

I also think about it in your way. lot of people are used to use scam what ever project fail. I think eventually few project will survive and reach to their actual goal. So should select those without blaming others.

I do agree to this statement, not all ICO that fail are a scam. Projects fail because of different factors and some of the common factors are lack of fund and mismanagement. I think when we choose an ICO to support, we need to know the team and the project itself. If it is doable and feasible, then it has a big chance to succeed. Many investors are attracted to projects that have a good and strong project proposal. When they invest on the project, the project will never fail.

The fact that you participated in an ICO which ended as a scam does not mean all ICO's are scam projects. Some are really legit projects that just needs time and some few funds to push them to where they have always planned to be. Why judge a kid on what he will be capable doing in future. Time is everything. Don't judge any ICO, time will tell which one was legit and which one was a scam.
