Rhinohorn A Cryptographic Approach To Raising Awareness Of Rhinos Under Threathttps://i.imgur.com/Hy3X96d.jpgRelease Date:Launched 14March 7:30pm EDT Website:Rhinohornshttp://baobabtravel.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/save-the-rhino-logo.jpgWhat Were About:Rhinohorns is an asic and scrypt/asic resistant cryptocurrency that has adopted the very best technologies in the altcoin community. The name Rhinohorns is a term used to describe the most expensive material by weight in the world, far surpassing gold and platinum, an anomaly caused by the demands of exotic animal collectors and investors. The reality unfortunatly is that rhinohorns are made out of the same material as your fingernails and its exclusvity has brought these ancient and majestic living dinosaurs to the brink of extinction. Rhinohorn aims to raise awareness of this ongoing threat by publicizing the term as a means of exchange/Cryptocurrency. The Rhinohorn community will also continue to promote, donate and be proactive participants in saving the Rhino, this will only exponentiate as adoption increases. Chinese Translations: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=470962http://www.btcyear.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=21113http://www.coin38.org/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=11http://www.bimeiti.com/thread-900-1-1.htmlhttp://digcoin.org/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=297Technical Specs:Scrypt Adaptive N 2.5 minute blocktime 250 coins per block total supply ~ 50 million subsidy halves every 105000 blocks (< 6 months) 0.1% premine: 41000. Proof Of Donation trust-less initial distribution (Giveaway recieved no interest so there was no premine giveaway):There will be a small initial distribution of coins for 2 main reasons: 1. To incentivise People To Donate to the save the rhino foundation 2. To prevent initial monopolization of coins mined by big mining farms The Rhinohorn founder will not recieve any of these funds, as investors will be required to make a donation or purchase directory from savetherhino.org and provide evidence for this. The procedure is as follows:Any donation or purchase you make at the savetherhino.org website, i will personally give you 25 ROH every $1 you spend(+5ROH thanks to monoxide). The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

No. Really it shouldn't stay at 0 hours behind. I am guessing that is why vertminer won't start. But... my processor is maxed at 100% mining in the background. Although there is no status showing in the wallet...
Also aren't Rhinos killed for their horns? Why would we "mine" horns if that is the objective with poachers...

But this way, it allows for more people the opportunity to mine(You don't need a GPU farm) and it prevents Pool monopolization.

How on earth does it shutdown everyone. QT-Wallet: help>Debug Window > Console > type setgenerate true and your done. You're favoring like less than 1% of people here. Do you comprehend that? You can stow the 'fairness' angle, you're giving a larger edge to a couple people than any GPU or pool mine or anything else ever would. If your real goal here is charity, you're doing it wrong.

Trust me on that. But your choice if you go forward, i respect that. He obviously have no skill to maintain the coin, so he'll dump what he have, then disappear like some others. Using a legit cause for a fraud, "piss me off".

Yeah you can only mine through the wallet. Daemon works fine i have tested it for the past few days. It will always be 0 hours behind. Coin will have no pools, you can only solo mine it. Once it gets past 24200 blocks then you might be able to gpu mine/pool mine but i'm not sure.

You're probably right Mr.Spoon. I am not even sure how he got this wallet up and running. But it's not going to be a pump or dump or anything else if it can't get pass the first few hours.
Wait and see . You right, but that kind of animal will beg the community to fix the bugs (because Rhino you know), the bad news is, there is always a kind dev to do so, sort of unfortunate misplaced charity. Anyway my rant is over, up to you all. Lost enough of my time.

@rhinohorn: Pretty sure it's a bug that lets the wallet say "not synched" although it is fully synched. So pools and gpu miners will work at some point in time, either you make the fix or someone else will, as there is quite an incentive to mine this with a GPU. I'd prefer an official fix by you.
That said, despite the synch bug, wallet mining like this is fun!

Yes. Exactly! You can fix the bug and relaunch or just fix the bug and update the wallet...

Decided to leave it as a cpu/gpu coin. GPU mining commences once 24200 blocks have been mined. Happy mining GPU Mining commences once 24200? What are you talking about?! STOP YOUR TECHNICAL NON SENSE!Im not chinese. And i don't discriminate. Sort of speak, but you got the idea. [ANN] RHINOHORNS [SCRYPT-N] [KGW] SAVE THE RHINO! LAUNCHED! [ANN] RHINOHORNS [CPU ONLY] SAVE THE RHINO! LAUNCHED! You have no idea what you are doing, do you?! make up your mind Plus can you explain, the answer from the official fondation? i quote " We have no relation or link whatsoever with this" AND NOW [ANN] RHINOHORNS [CPU/GPU HYBRID] Hybrid? Seriously!?, you know there is convention in naming. Please define "Hybrid" in your case... N-Scrypt, KGW, are not here just to be fun words! you put on a title, there is a technical reason behing the words... .

LOL read ffs. Until block 24200 GPU mining is impossible due to "no sync" bug. Not sure how dev is sure wallet will fully sync @ block 24200, but he made this coin so no reason to not believe him. This coincidential bug could turn out to be an advantage imo (no gpu instamining).

When does the difficulty adjustment kick in? I thought dif was evaluated at every block with KGW.
{ "blocks" : 1005, "currentblocksize" : 1000, "currentblocktx" : 0, "difficulty" : 0.00024414, "errors" : "", "generate" : true, "genproclimit" : -1, "hashespersec" : 3475, "networkhashps" : 4869, "pooledtx" : 0, "testnet" : false }

No difficulty changes here, but nethash has increased. Are the changes < 8 decimal places or is it another bug?

NODES?? can't sync.. Vu169ooHrZu4dvpdBS5EVS4gWqHXMJGeKY my node went down, its coming back online soon. Sorry about that. Everyone please post your node address if you are planning to support the network for a while, that way people can just directly connect to you if they are out of sync. These issues only occur due to the lack of nodes in the network atm.

Current number of blocks: 1142 Estimated total block: 24200 It's not working for me :S That's part of the bug. You can still mine in the wallet. I presume when we reach block 24200 the wallet will be properly in sync, then we can solo mine with GPUs. You just get a connection error if you try connecting with vertminer now. We're currently on about block 1354.

The difficulty is f#%ked on this coin. By my rough calculations we're generating about 4-5 blocks a minute, when the block target time is meant to be 1 every 2.5 minutes. Difficulty hasn't changed from 0.00024414.
No point mining a coin with multiple bugs in it.

Net hashrate is rising (73 kilohash), still no difficulty change. This coin supposedly has the Kimoto Gravity Well, which should adjust difficulty with every block iirc, which is why it's weird that there hasn't been a difficulty change yet.

I have not had any problems with orphans, At this rate we should plow through 24200 blocks, so that's definitely a plus. The difficulty re-target may be being affected by the 24200 blocks behind.
I'll go over what changes i made to the source code and check for in-consistences.

This seems to be very nice coin. I like the fact that gpus cant attack just yet. But i have a problem. I left my machine mining in old wallet at home and i am at work. I could maybe fix it thru team viewer in couple hours but my question is that what is the worst that can happen in two hours? What about in next 10 hours? Thanks. Don't want to lose my over 30k coins...

It shows in the picture 37 connections. So is that how many miners are online? I think this is long term coin since there is not that much attention since this cant be mined with gpu just yet. Is there going to be a giveaway? I think we could draw some attention with that now when this is launched..

When there is a giveaway i will tell about it in other forums. Or when i get home and see how much i have mined i might put on my own giveaway up on some other forums.

I recommend you upgrade your wallet. Follow these instructions: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=515285.msg5738388#msg5738388The wallet not syncing is normal, you can still cpu mine and trade coins. Once 24200 blocks have been mined you will be 100% in sync.

Well this came in my mind. Since this coin supports rhinos that are hunted and slaughtered just for the horns, maybe the image in the coin should be a rhino without its horn. I know it may not play well with the name rhinohorn but atleast it would be some what shocking. Just an idea maybe it will work maybe not. I hope there would be discussion about this and i also want to hear some suggestions. And thanks for the dev for putting really work on this coin.

I meant something more rude, like some picture of a rhino which has lost it's horn because of humans greed. maybe in same kind of graphics as the coin logo is now, just a bit more accurate.. Btw, wasn't it hippopotamus that cave birth to Ace Ventura?

That was me. @ OP: A DNS seed would be nice, many of the users I sent a few coins to had a bit of trouble making the config files. How to make the config file (on Windows): Copy this: rpcuser=username (change this) rpcpassword=password (change this) rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcport=6998 port=6999 gen=0 server=1 addnode=199.127.226.163 addnode=220.239.233.14 Go to C:/Users/YourUsername/AppData/Roaming/Rhinohorn (the AppData folder is hidden, go to Organize->Folder settings and make hidden files visible or follow this how-to) Create an empty text file and name it Rhinohorn.conf Open it with notepad and paste the code above into it, save the file Restart the wallet, should sync now. Still got problems? Feel free to PM.

CPU Mining Instructions: QT-Wallet: help>Debug Window > Console > type setgenerate true Daemon Linux: ./Rhinohornd set generate true Daemon Windows: Rhinohornd.exe set generate true
To check your hashrate type in getmininginfo. your hashrate is where it says hashpersec.
(You will be 0 hours behind, this is expected)
When using "setgenerate true" is there a way of adjusting the threads/cores used?

Speaking of nodes and conf files... linux conf filename? Doesn't seem to be "~/.Rhinohorn/rhinohorn.conf"
edit to add, not sure if it's a bug but coins are added to confirmed balance before they reach fully confirmed under transaction history. I've got two transactions, one 4/6, the other 5/6 but no unconfirmed balance.

File name is: .Rhinohorn I've got the directory, just not the filename. But I THINK "Rhinohorn.conf" (so "~/.Rhinohorn/Rhinohorn.conf") shifted it. just fyi, although settings directories may be uppercased, the conf filename is almost always fully lowercase. At least under linux builds. Not a rule, but a convention worth following (easier for users)

More devs should do this kind of thing to keep the CPU hashers happy There doesn't have to be this silly CPU vs GPU rivalry anymore ha

Hey all, CryptoALTeX has added a voting feature to our site. If you are interested in getting RhinoHorns added please let us know and we can add you to the list. Details below....save the rhino! Want your favorite coin listed on CryptoALTeX?Welcome to CryptoALTeX's Get Listed ProgramThe Get Listed program offers some unique ways to get a coin listed. Each registered user gets 1 vote per day for their coin. You can also donate .001BTC to your coins posted address on our " Get Listed" page. Each vote or .001BTC donation generates a "Chance" at being listed. The coin with the most chances after 3 days will automatically be listed on our site. The remaining coins that have a minimum of 100 chances will have their chances entered into a random selection which we will live stream and record. The coin that wins, will be listed. All unselected chances will roll over to the next drawing. This means that the big money coins won't always win, giving the little guy a chance. Want your coin added? Please enter a ticket at https://cryptoaltex.freshdesk.com with some information about your coin and we will generate a deposit address and place your coin into the contest! Next drawing: Wednesday at 8PM UTCPlease visit, https://www.cryptoaltex.com/index.php?page=newcoin to see the current coins and votes. CryptoALTeX reserves the right to list any coin at any time regardless of the drawing. Any coin listed for trading on CryptoALTeX that is already part of the drawing will have its chances removed from the drawing. In the event CryptoALTeX decides to list the top two coins of the week, the other coins will still have a random drawing. Thanks all and feedback is always welcome, Chiznitz

What kind of hashrates are people getting from their CPU?
I get around 3065 hashes per sec - i7 2600k.
Makes it around 850-900 good CPUs mining it at current net hashrate. Pretty impressive but not unrealistic if there are one or two botnets on board.

The botnet or whatever it is has pretty much shut out anyone without a high end CPU. I'd expect them to dump the instant this hits an exchange, so don't panic sell.

I agree with this guy. Let them dump their coins if they so choose. Cheaper coins for us to lap up. Inventive coins like this usually do well with price. Here's hoping.

Hashespersec kept steady at 700. That is quite low! May I ask what CPU you use, sure it has 4 cores? Also keep an eye on CPU temperature, if it's too high the CPU might throttle frequency.

Yes, it's not a high end CPU like the ones you guys have. I'm not a pro on mining. I have an i3 @2.1GHz (4 threads, 2 cores). I can mine about 0.5 DMD or 0.1 uBTC per day in a fair pool, and those have higher diffs. I was far from thinking I could make one full RHO, but got nothing, not even 0.00000001. Unfortunately, botnets and GPU farms are going to ruin the whole system soon enough. Good luck for the dev trying to raise awareness from these guys

Or wait for a pool, but then GPU mining will also work...

Diff re-targets every 2016 blocks next retarget should be in the area around 12,092. Looks like hash rate gone down perhaps the botnets got bored. I'll throw some of my CPUs back on this thing lets keep it goin!
In response to that lookin over the code the KGW does not kick in untill block 24200ish along with GPU mining and such

Dev, try to connect with them or make tickets or something else. Especially with Poloniex. HERE IS MY ADVICE! Do you really think other exchanges are anything else? I'm sad to see you say this. SochiCoin has no backing but they won the drawing so we listed them. We traded plenty of coins that didn't dump on our exchange, they dumped when they got to the exchanges you mentioned just like other coins. Look at WAS, they got voted into Cryptorush tonight by spending a ton of BTC and there is no volume. The small exchanges are where you are actually going to see people doing real value trades, once they hit the big exchanges you can bet the traders will buy your coin up and make you happy then dump it to the ground. Besides, if you think people will dump on our exchange then come buy the dump and wait for a bigger exchange and get rich :-/ Vote daily folks, https://www.cryptoaltex.com/index.php?page=newcoin

Ok just finished the wallet and gambling mechanism, didn't do any work on appearance, so its pretty barebones stuff focused on basic functionality. I'll work on the appearance later on. So if you need a place to store your coins online or something to do with them atm(gamble), you can use the website. You can also feel a little safer that it was made by the dev. I still recommend you to use your own wallet, as this is centralized. I expect some bugs, haven't tested it thoroughly so let me know when you spot some, be careful. Some Features include: Little to no Javascript (Only used in the registration captcha) Easily send and recieve your coins Intergrated gambling mechanism similar to satoshi dice Generate New addresses Transaction ID displayed after sending coins http://rhinowallet<dot>tk Winning multiplier is based off, 100/chanceToWin (Uses random number generator) interger bets only atm, i'll add decimal bets tomorrow. https://i.imgur.com/9tHoNOm.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/t4sVsRg.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/m5JNfcg.png

I actually want to back your decision, since i was thinkin that the name fights little against that we are trying to help to stop that rhino abuse. But why don't you put up a poll for 24 hrs? Rhinocoin sound great! I agree. In this case, the currency symbol (ROH) will change as well?

Rhinocoin sounds like a good idea, as you say, might help with selling the concept to conservationists. Going to have a gamble with my Rhinos tonight!

Pretty much cleaned your gambling wallet out and then gave it all back in a single bet. Didn't want to ruin the fun for others. You're lucky I didn't hit with my last 10% bet or you would be in serious debt.

VPS is down for maintenence, so all the websites are going to be down temporarily.
There was a bug in the gamble mechanism, where negative bets were allowed. Will also fix that.

To be fair the diff did retarget.. Problem is diff went up slightly from 0.04653998, to 0.04831525. Not much change but I was hoping for it to go back down so I can get even more. next retarget set to be blk 14112 give or take. Im staying on it I guess. Not much else to mine with the CPUs.

Have you thought about starting a "Rhinofund", and accepting donations to a specific wallet address? Once Rhino is trading and has a value, you could cash in the fund and distribute the revenue to Rhino charities. If it feels like a solid enough donation, it could easily be used to get some good press and increase awareness of the coin.

Have you read the thread at all? Wallet will be showing 0 hours behind until we hit block 24200.. that is some 'bug' to block miners to connect the client. So in other words this coin is only mineable with wallet debug console with you cpu.

Man, now that's an excellent idea! If the dev could find a zoo or similar, somewhere with a breeding program, which has a new/recently born Rhino, it really could help amplify the story with the "aww" effect. The amount of money raised from this initial drive would only be relatively small (due to early exchange prices), but would still have an impact for a single site like a zoo or safari park (rather than one of the giant charities). It could still be a high profile story if its one of those in a major world city, you had the cuteness/heartwarming factor sorted, etc

Your chance to shineI wanted to remind everyone that in less than ONE HOUR we will have our third drawing, this means we will be adding two more coins to our exchange! RhinoHorns has only 53 votes right now, the good news is that you don't need to be at the top of the list for a chance to win, all you need is a minium of 100 votes (more is better, of course ) and you will be entered into the random drawing which will be streamed live. Guys, the exchanges have been disabling KGW coins. I see Rhino has enough votes to be considered in the drawing. We could use some word from the developer on when the coin is intended to have the vulnerability patched.
The risk is a user mining a lot of coins at a low difficulty and then dumping them on the exchange. However, unless we see a huge amount of BTC on the buy side we would leave the coin activated. But we definitely need a hard fork to get the KGW stuff fixed.

[Asauthor=patriot1889 link=topic=515285.msg6091095#msg6091095 date=1396748442] If we get on that exchange i think i would sell some of my horns and use that btc to get on some other exchanges too.. Great idea. Would love to get on something like MintPal or such. If we can give the horns some real value then the charity element could actually mean something. [/quote] I agree. But we need to reach the dev or maybe someone to takeover. It is strange that dev was asking about changin the coinname and i had feeling that he was serious about this and not a noob. Then all of sudden he went MIA..? The feature that wallet is unreachable from miners is quite unique. Atleast i haven't seen that in other coins. i feel that this coin have something new to offer. So, will the real dev please stand up!!!

Hey guys!
We are going to take over this coin by the end of the day if there are no objections. A coin that is listed on an exchange needs some sort of active development.
We have been looking through the past posts on this thread and have seen a few good ideas such as starting a charitable fund and possibly changing the name. If we successfully take over ownership then we will make sure to put these questions to the public through polls etc.
There are a few of us and are willing to put some coins in the kitty for bounties etc. More will be revealed later, including how you can help if you wish.
The first things we will do is patch up the KGW code to fix the exploit and sort out this terribly slow retargeting.

what does it mean exactly taking over ? As long as my coin doesn't disappear it is okay with me. And if you take it over, please change that 24000block before gpu can run on it; I haven't seen a coin for ages with my 3770...
edit: it would be better if such take over was done with a normal bitcointalk username and not some noob rhinotakeover username. (don't hide...)

Just kill the coin and if you want to really have the rhinos , there are volunteers needed right now for the real "saving" not getting rich schemes.

First of all, it is great that some kind of developer is here (thanks for your interest!) and this is definitely needed. The name or at least the logo (There is a suggestion in this thread) will need to be changed and we need to put some of our ROHs into the pot. The GPU and KGW fix would be really nice!

Hope this isn't an inconvenience. We will include you in the next drawing as you were above the threshold before it changed. This change was to give free votes more of a say compared to what they had before. The more votes the better of course, set your alarm to click every 12 hours I don't understand. We had the most votes yet we didn't get added :/

Without an active developer the KGW exploit etc is not going to be fixed. If we can get word from the developer etc that this coin is going to be continued with support we will add it. It would be bad for us to add a coin with a known exploit and no active developer. I'm awaiting info

KGW exploit is a non issue for another 10k blocks plenty of time for those guys who are going to step up and fix it.
Other than that the only issue is slow retarget atm but that does not prevent the coin from being able to be moved around. Maybe those guys can fix this issue as well say make it retarget every 500 blocks or something or do the KGW fix and allow KGW to kick in sooner?
I still like the CPU only aspect of it its great hopefully the new devs will keep this feature/bug in and hopefully the OP will come back and welcome the assistance.

This sounds great! My suggestions are: - Keep the cpu only feature until block 24200. - change the diff retarget to something like 5 blocks if possible and kgw after block 24200. - rename coin. Maybe rhinocoin as talked earlier in this thread. ROC for short name. - keep our already mined coins! These are things that i have had in my mind.

Not everyone can up sticks and move to another country to work on rhino conservation, we have jobs and responsibilities. What we can all do is donate a few CPU cycles.

Here is the new code, a compiled qt wallet for windows and source for Linux etc; https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zw8t7sgfe1yp3v1/pSxecwP50H We have fixed the KGW exploit and it will start 200 blocks from now (block 14750). That should solve the extremely slow re targeting we're getting at the moment. It is still only CPU mineable in line with the original plan. We felt it was a unique element to the coin and also didn't want to change it too much from the original developers plan. If the original dev decides that he wants to retake control that is perfectly fine by us, just let us know if you plan on doing so Please all update your wallets to continue on with this fork. I think we can all agree that it is not going anywhere fast in its current state.

It isn't a good idea... we won't reach block 24000 before 3 or 4 months, single computer can't get a coin within a sensible time, there is no pool. the coin will be dead before it reach block 24k. (understand that we want to dump the cpu mine coin, before the gpu arrive... but three month it is still very long)

Crashes here (Win 7 x64, AMD FX-8350), also you forgot to include libwinpthread-1.dll. Thanks for doing this though.

Probably a good idea to fork the original github link, put the changes in your fork, and announce the new link.

Once KGW kicks in soon then it will be no problem for CPUs to mine this coin.

I think the problem with getting it listed was KGW and the absent dev. Hopefully now that it has been solved we can be listed. I suggest you mine before it starts to get too hard.

We apologise for the problems you are having. Please try this (it has worked in all our testing); [WINDOWS] http://www.sendspace.com/file/3dnxoqAlso, we will take suggestions for a name change and put that into place at a later date. Our main priorities were to make the coin functional again. We will make a new ANN when this has been accepted by the community as the current fork and once we have changed the name etc.

Edit: this seems to work just fine as it is, but if i try copy/paste my old wallet.dat (where all my coins are) it says wallet.dat corrupt, salvage stopped. I try to send some of my coins in old client to new address in new client and see if it works.. But very much thanks to new dev team for working for this. Can tou please tell us something about you?

Have you got this working? All our private testing has allowed us to use our old wallet.dat files. You might want to try exporting the .dat from inside the old rhino wallet, rather than copy and pasting it from the application files. As many of you have suggested, we will be creating a new ANN but only once we have ironed out all the bugs and it has a new name etc. Patience

Can't GPU mine until block 24200. Get the new client from the last page and let your CPU run hot. From 80kH total nethashrate before KGW to 500kH now.

I'm not sure, but i think it will. Just try sendin small amount like 1 roh to your new wallet on new client. Easiest way would be if you got that new wallet installed on some other computer than you got the old one.

My wallet seems to work just fine and so does diff retarget. nice work dev team.
But now that the wallet issue is out of the way at least from my point of view, would you tell to the community something about yourselves?
I would like to hear for example how long you have been in crypto world and what kind of experience you have. but anyway as i said before you have done nice job.
Once we get new name, ANN thread and what not, i'll start promoting this coin again on other forums.

"No block source available..." Have you put the nodes into a rhinohorn.conf file? addnode=132.199.72.221:6999 addnode=67.11.25.199:6999 Yes, I did!

this is rather strange, I remember when vertcoin implements KGW, there was no incompatibility issues with wallet.dat file, in the case of Rhinohorns is quite confusing, this is due to? (sorry for the english)

I don't think the wallet problem is due to KGW. Unfortunately, we are unable to reproduce the problems everyone is having. I don't really know what else to suggest. Are you moving the wallet.dat from a different operating system? I would quite happily try your wallet file on my QT and see if it works, then send the coins to another address for you? Obviously, this is not ideal because you would have to trust me with your wallet file, but the offer is there. Here is another node; addnode=54.186.150.238

I was finally able to transfer my 1 roh, it just took 4 to 5 hours... (the rest is transfering...) still wondering why the block doesn't have the same number in the old and in the new wallet (most likely the problem is there...)

Yeah synced now, probably the connections were maxed out. Add maxconnections=24 or so to the .conf file of the nodes maybe if you haven't yet?

Sending your coins from the old wallet to the new one will not work as the blockchain has forked, due to the takeover.
All your coins will be safe in the old wallet.dat file which should work perfectly with the new wallet qt.
Anyone still having problems should send us a PM. We will help you fix your problems.

All that should have been done is stop current qt, copy new .exe qt from the download links to where your "old" one is and start it back up.
That is all no moving wallet files (its always safe bet to back it up) no transfering coins no nothing just replace the QT.exe and start and done.
If you attempt to send coins from the "old" wallet to the "new" one the coins will never show up as the 2 wallets are now off on their own "chains".
So for those of u still having issues... I would recommend shutting your wallet down, downloading the "fixed" qt. replace your .exe with the fixed one, and than start it back up with the -rescan and or -salvagewallet ...

Old wallet.dat doesn't work with the newest fixed qt-wallet (Still this corrupt error, old qt-wallet however working with the "corrupt" wallet.dat). As I would understand it the forking would mean that if we get the old wallet.dat's to work in the new wallet then we should be able to recover the coins that were sent (with the old qt-wallet) after the forked block.

Nice takeover (was able to transfer 1 roh, but the other 15k got lost in the fork). edit: apparently using a old back up of the wallet seems to have restored its content. (however I still get corrupt wallet, if i try to use the new one)

Ha, you make me laugh. Expert scammer? We haven't taken any coins. Once you get the old wallet.dat to work in the new QT all your coins will still be there, because of the forked blockchain.
A new idea has just popped into my head. With the old wallet-qt go into Help > Debug Window > Console
and type "dumpprivkey WALLETADDRESS" with WALLETADDRESS being your rhino address
Now, copy that key.
If you have a passphrase on the wallet you must type this first; "walletpassphrase PASSPHRASE 600"
Then, load up the new wallet qt, go to the console and type "importprivkey PRIVATEKEY" with PRIVATKEY being the key you copied.
This should work perfectly fine.

I had that salvage error too, but just fixed everything by sending my coins in to new wallet/address.
quess i was lucky that my coins were saved.
And calling dev team as scammer is straigth up bullshit.
They use their time and skills to keep this coin alive. no one should call em that, especially when most of us (including myself) didn't know nothing but that there was something that needed to do for this coin to save it and we didn't know how.
So to the dev team: i apologize on behalf of my fellow forum member for all those accusations.
Hope you still want to carry on with this coin.
Thanks.

Oh, yes. Of course. It slipped my mind that all mined coins are sent to separate addresses in the wallet.dat So getting the privatekey for the main wallet address won't actually move the coins. Ha, my bad. If you can reply to my private message we can try and fix your problem.

That's what I was thinking too... edit: I finally solved the problem. To explain shortly: I, by mistake, imported the privatekey of a receive address (since the account didn't really have an address since it was used only for solo mining). Then I ended with this address in both the old and new wallet (which were using the same blockchain on the same computer) So I sent to that address the coins on my old account (which showed up on the old wallet as a 0 ROH transfer to myself) I went back to the new wallet (having also that address) and after a little while these coins appeared in the new wallet...

Here is another node; addnode=54.186.150.238 ...I just overwrote my old rhinowallet file and now it won't open. Is there a downloadable V0.3 wallet I can actually download for Windows? and type "dumpprivkey WALLETADDRESS" with WALLETADDRESS being your rhino address
10x Worked with me.... but it is normal the new wallet stuck to block 15752 ?? I don't think it's stuck.. just slow blocks right now..

Ok. now we are on one exchange, that's nice, but as everybody probably noticed, there are no buy orders. This is because there is not much interest in this coin and not so many people know about it. If you want this coin to success, you need to do something about it. not just submit them sell orders. The dev team came and saved as from near death, but we are still recovering. now it's your turn. this coin needs websites, games, something interesting. If you can spare some ROHs, put on a giveaway on some forums. not in bitcointalk. i have done one 5k giveaway and i'm planning to do one in this week on some other forum maybe a 2,5k.

It's been pretty quiet in here, but let's see.. First of all, this is NOT a giveaway, so do NOT post your wallets. A change to get 5000 ROH! Since we are still in cpu only stage i want to do my part for people to get them blocks found and not let this coin die. So i will send a reward of 5000 ROH to first three miners that find 10 blocks. Will not reward botnets! There are few things i want you to do.. 1. Start mining GO! GO! GO! 2. post here that you want to participate and also post your CPU model and hashespersec. also your timezone. example i5-4670, hps:2225, +2 GMT 3. Once you get your 10 blocks done, i want you to PM me a screenshot of your transactions so i can see that you mined them after the contest started. After i check the info you send, i will reward 5000 ROH. if there is a suspicion of cheating, i will ask for more info. We are now at block 17915 "blocks" : 17915, "currentblocksize" : 1000, "currentblocktx" : 0, "difficulty" : 0.00066381, "errors" : "", "generate" : true, "genproclimit" : -4, "hashespersec" : 1729, "networkhashps" : 18261, "pooledtx" : 0, "testnet" : false If you are new to rhinohorns, here is the wallet: https://mega.co.nz/#!JBQFRYaB!p0ftOoRuIQPhEo5M3oMndXrzQo3zo-XbU1_HbOWWZzI rhinohorn.conf addnode=199.127.226.163 addnode=220.239.233.14 addnode=132.199.72.221 addnode=67.11.25.199 addnode=67.11.25.199 addnode=90.57.167.142 addnode=54.186.150.238 You can ONLY mine from wallet until we reach block 24200 Help->Debug->Console setgenerate true -4 the number of the command means how many threads you use for mining

Are there any node updates for the wallet? I seem to be having problems getting enough connections. My client says "No block source available" after I restarted it and the debug log is full of failed connection attempts.

This is screenshot of my old wallet-qt and as you can see won't sync. I read more or less all previous posts and tried everything that others tried in order to reveal my coins into new wallet.dat but without success. First I tried to use the latest wallet-qt but I get "wallet.dat corrupt salvage failed". After that I tried with dumpprivkey from old wallet-qt and importprivkey in to the new wallet-qt installed on the other PC, delete everything in %appdata%/rhinohorn folder except wallet.dat and rhinohorn.conf, than start wallet with -rescan and after that with -salvagewallet options but nothing happend. No coins appeared at all. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, please help! did you got it working?

Until now I didn't see this kind of wallet, which suppose to be a "mandatory update" on the first post of the thread. It seems to me that the new wallet-qt has been made with the reason to deceive and cancel priviously mined coins. Otherwise the update process would be on elementary level (copy and paste)!

Actually it's a pretty simple thing and I haven't seen it at first. Somethig about that was mentioned in previous posts.
- In the old wallet-qt you must go in Help -> Debug Window -> Console Type dumpprivkey <Rhinohornaddress-Transaction address from solo mining> For each of them, you'll get a privatekey that you need to copy (each of them) in to e.g. Notepad - After copying all privatekeys go to new wallet Help -> Debug Window -> Console Type importprivkey <Rhinohornprivkey-From old wallet> each of them has to be imported separately After every import of privatekey you will get back exact amount of coins for that transaction (mined block)
That's all. Lots of manual work but it's working. Maybe someone has idea how to simplify this procedure and complete this process in one or two steps. I have old and new wallet installed on two different PCs.

I don't get what was so difficult. All I did was rename the old QT (and my wallet.dat, though this wasn't necessary), pasted the new QT into the same folder as the old one, and ran it like normal, using the the same data folders and files. Everything worked as it did before. I did not lose any coins. My old wallet.dat wasn't replaced. I didn't have to import any keys. It just worked.

Last time I tried to connect (2weeks ago) it was even not possible to find a node. As already requested... may-be it is time (if not already too late) to make it gpu minable... otherwise we will never arrive to block 24000...

As already requested... may-be it is time (if not already too late) to make it gpu minable... otherwise we will never arrive to block 24000... Are we calling this coin dead? Is anyone stepping up, does anyone care? I can't leave it running on the exchange if its just going to sit there doing nothing :-/ I don't care and I have 10k of these things.

Looks like its dead folks.
I'm going to be removing this from CryptoALTeX, I'll keep the wallet in case things ever get fixed. Sorry for those who have coins stuck on the exchange, without blocks moving forward I have no way to get you your coins.

I've updated but seems there are no nodes. If you can help me get it going i'll keep it up for a bit, but it seems this coin/community are dead. It would be nice to get it up so people can withdraw so I can delist.

At least the rhinos have better chance of survival than this coin .

Just tested this and it crashes and don't accept wallet.dat. i will test it better later.
