There is psychological factor involved when you are chasing, you play according to target you have to reach and that often kills the chasing team no matter how skilled they might be or how low chase it might be. That's why you often see even low chase games becoming thrillers where it should have been an easy win.

Having said that, cricket is a funny game and IMO everything is possible, sometimes it surprises you. My money is still on India for sure but don't forget, even mighty Aussie lost the fortress Gabba against India B team with net bowlers so I'd never rule out the opposition.

Atleast someone spiced things up when everyone thinking India is running through the Englishmen, I missed watching the final session drama because I thought the match is going nowhere but 148* against the spin trio is not something amazing.

India didn't have the backup plan which is why they couldn't get his wicket but tomorrow morning this might be changed because they will come up with a better strategy and even if England can set a target of 300 India has deep batting to chase it down.

Yes England played very well in this innings and scored 316 runs which is a strong performance.  This shows the consistency of his batting line-up.  But India is now becoming a top-class team and they have a potent bowling team that shows success even in such challenging situations.Chasing 316 runs will be tough but India top-order batsmen have done better on similar occasions before.Their current form and skills give confidence that they can achieve this target.  The next part of the match will be vital and it will be seen how India rise to the challenge but as they stand now they have the ability to get those runs.

England had a low scoring 1st inning and are currently leading by only 126 runs. There are two days left and England has just 4 wickets left.
India would be trying to take those remaining 4 wickets tomorrow and any target around 300 would be easily achievable in a day. India is closer to win on this test.
If England wants to save itself from a defeat, they should try to hold onto their wickets the whole fourth day and at least the morning of the 5th which would led to a draw. There's no way they can give a target in the range of 400 and hope to stop India by taking all their wickets. The best England could hope for is a draw.

Excellent batting effort from England. Tbh, in the last decade or so I don't remember any visiting side testing Indians that much in the 3rd innings of any match. It's a very new experience for the Indian bowling line up and England can take full credit for that.

After batting so badly in the first innings, I didn't think we would see such a great comeback from England in the second innings. But it is not possible to say that every batsman of England has batted well. With the help of Ollie Pope's 148 runs, at the end of the third day, England accumulated 316 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Zak Crawley, Duckett, and Foakes batted somewhat well. We don't see better batting than Joe Root, Bairstwo and Stokes. However, if Ollie Pope's innings extends further in the coming days, England will be able to provide a descent target. If this pitch can deliver 250+ targets I think it will be enough to win.

Can't blame those 3 much because all of em lost their wickets to peach deliveries.

Bumrah set it up Root nicely with the outswingers + slower ones and out of nowhere came an inswinger. Similarly, Jadeja bowled 2 freaking deliveries from the same trajectory, one turned enough to put some doubt on Bairstow's mind and the next ball just straightened up and rattled his timber.

Ashwin also did the same with Stokes. He was setting up Stokes nicely for the last 2 overs, forcing him to play and testing his defense and finally, it paid off.

I have never seen such a bad spin friendly pitch in matches played at Hyderabad ground in the past. However, since Joe Root, Bairstwo and Stokes are among the most experienced batsmen in England, if these three batsmen bat well, it would be easy for England to collect big.

This particular pitch is the best spin pitch i have seen in the last 4 years. A good amount of turn to spinners and reverse swing for quality seam. The batters are scoring runs and almost 1000 runs scored already and 1 inning is left, what else do you want from the test pitch?

Agreed. Found out that around 32000+ fans(Highest in the stadium) attended the match which is epic considering that this was a test match.

WI have given a target of 216 run to Aussies and on stumps day 3 Aussies need 156 more runs to win this test match. I have written earlier that WI are 100 runs short of what could ba a challanging target for Aussies. In second innings, Josh Hazlewood and Lyon did the job for Aussies. They both shared 6 wickets and that restricted WI from giving a target over 300 runs. Aussies have lost 2 wickets and only some exceptional bowling from WI can win this match for them.

Ollie Pope tries to turn around with 112 in a sixth-wicket partnership with Foakes. With Foakes out for 34, Ollie Pope ended the third day's play with a seventh-wicket partnership of 45 with Rehan Ahmed. Can deserve really  praise Ollie Pope as he single-handedly carried the England team, his solo innings of 148 gave England a 126-run lead.
