Pureblends completes buyout of NorthPort's PBA franchise for P90M

THE PBA franchise of NorthPort is finally being taken over by a food solution provider specializing in custom food manufacturing.

As per multiple sources by SPIN.ph, negotiations for the sale of the franchise lock, stock, and barrel between the Batang Pier and the team’s official buyer Pureblends Corp. was completed to the tune of P90 million, reportedly paid in two tranches.

Both parties agreed on the buyout over the weekend as the new management took over the franchise starting Sept. 1.

It’s still the same name for now, just under new ownership. But once everything gets approved, they’ll change the name, just like when Alaska turned into Converge.
Hopefully with this new owner, the team will finally improve.

We’ve got a lot of changes coming this season -- new coaches, younger ones stepping up, and now even a new team. I think the players are mostly the same, but at least with a new team, we can expect they won’t be the same anymore.

Can’t wait for the season to resume. Sports betting has been boring lately since I could only bet on a few games, unlike when basketball season is active and I can do it regularly.

Seems like he’s not a well-known player. I even tried searching some YouTube videos about him but couldn’t find anything. Maybe he hasn’t played in any big leagues yet. But with the PBA, I don’t think the requirements are too difficult, and he still has a chance to get drafted especially since many of the better players are already playing overseas.

That's a good news another business to compete against those big names here in PBA after the final acquisition of NP hopefully the new team owner will create a good selections of players, those who really can compete against the Super teams, though aside from that amount acquiring the franchise they also need to spend extra money to offer good amount of salaries of they wanted to be competitive, let see if how far they can provide to last with how PBA management works with the league.

Before the NOrthport have their end in the PBA, just before the start of PBA 50th Season. Lets take a look on how the franchise drought for a title for 13 years.

Romero has long coveted an entry to the PBA, one he first attempted when his company tried to purchase the Barako Bull franchise from Bert Lina back in 2009.

Three years later, that dream was realized when his Sultan 900 Capital Inc. acquired the Powerade franchise from Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc. for P100 million and an additional PHP 10 million application fee.

With it came the core of the Tigers – one which was fresh off a scintillating run to the Philippine Cup Finals the season prior buoyed by the brilliance of one Gary David.

TR7 shine high during his Gilas time especially when coach Tab is the one who's leading the team, he got his exposure and he did not disappoint the fans, not only here in our country but also those international fans who really impressed with his performance, but after that Gilas brawl that's the beginning of his downfall, and we don't know now if what will be his plan since his contract already expired or almost expired with Terrafima.

He must’ve been offered a really good contract for him to decide to stay with the team. He’s their best player IMO, so it’s only right that he gets the best deal. Just like when Tenorio became the face of Brgy. Ginebra, it's the same thing with Newsome. He's the face of Meralco, and he's been playing there ever since, so it's obvious that he'll stay there. On the flip side though, we know that SMC teams are well-known for those lop-sided trades to their farm teams, so I will not be surprised if after this 3-year contract of him, they will trade him to another farm team just to get way younger players.

Anyway, I can't remember anything achievement that's considered "significant" for the team with their whole stint in the PBA. I guess I'll remember them as the team that always goes down in the first round of the playoffs and that's it. As for the one that's buying the franchise though, I don't expect too much from them aside from the fact that they might just turn to be another farm team just like what NorthPort was the whole time.

He’s still shorter than Junemar, only 6’8″ while June Mar is 6'11. But we’ll see if his young career will be a success in the PBA, coz you know there are lots of rookies that don’t perform well in the PBA even after having a good UAAP season.

They should pray they get drafted by Ros its where they will shine, if they get pick, no star treatment, and for sure they will be mold by coach yeng, but if they get drafted by SMB or GINS for sure they will be a trade package for harvest.

The 2025–2026 PBA Governor’s Cup is set to begin on October 5, 2025. As the league prepares for another competitive conference, fans and teams alike are looking forward to the action and intensity that the Governor’s Cup consistently delivers.

It’s just less than a month, hopefully we’ll see some surprises in the coming season since there’s a lot of changes and new rookies trying to showcase their talent. For now there’s not much news to expect, draft is already over, so teams are just training and preparing for the season.

Terrafirma is on their rebuilding process, they drafted 10 new players for their roster. U hope those young players will show their best as early as they can.
They will be given a good minutes, theres no doubt on that. For a new comer terrfirma is the best team to play. You will have a big chance to showcase the talent.
I just hope and really HOPE! that thos young guns and tower will be on that team and not just to be better there and go to giants and leading teams in the league.

Let see if how the new headcoach will handle all those newcomers, they are in a rebuilding process and we don't know if how far they'll going to succeed in terms of competing against those heavy favorites, personally, I'll be closely monitor if what will be the new system that  coach Tubid will bring, hoping to see new ideas that will give them competitive stand in each games that they'll going to play.

Like you've said, they will surely lean with their number 1 pick since the team is lacking with big men, though he's still young and for sure there are so many adjustments that he needed to embrace, though I'm expecting to see him being traded once SMC or MVP seen good potentials after seeing him playing.
