Yeah, interesting to see how LA Tenorio would fare against his old coach on the drawing board. We knew that coach Tim Cone is a brilliant tactician but who knows, coach LA could steal the opening game.

Wonder if this could be an import laden conference they will be playing come October 5, anyone knows?

Yeah, interesting to see how LA Tenorio would fare against his old coach on the drawing board. We knew that coach Tim Cone is a brilliant tactician but who knows, coach LA could steal the opening game.

Wonder if this could be an import laden conference they will be playing come October 5, anyone knows?

I haven't seen any article regarding if this is an import-laden conference, but knowing that we just have an All-Filipino Cup last season, I'll just assume that this will be a conference where there's an import on it.

As for the 2 head coaches, we already know that Tenorio has been under Coach Tim Cone for a very long time that's why I believe that he already know how he coach his players, and that might be an advantage for Tenorio. Unless Coach Tim Cone create a system or plays that's pretty new, I believe that Tenorio knows how to counter him when it comes to those type of plays. I don't want to pick Magnolia on this one, but just because he played under CTC, I believe that he got an advantage over his former team.

I want to see how coach LA upgrade the triangle or if he got something that will excite the fans, knowing how coach tim materialize with the system might be possible that coach LA got something to offer addition or another approach on how to execute the system.

On that note, I also don't see any involve imports since the photoshots are being held I don't see any news about bringing imports to this upcoming season.

Finally we’re back in action.. student vs teacher matchup, and it would be wild if LA as the new coach actually beats Ginebra’s Tim Cone, but man I’d love to see that surprise. been waiting months for this and now it’s just 8 days away till the PBA opening.

Pretty sure I’m gonna bet on this game. not sure if Magnolia will stick to their defensive style, but based on how they’ve played before, I’d still lean on the under. feels like a safer pick than trying to guess which team takes the win.

Per multiple sources, initial talks between the Fil-American giant and Pureblends 'have already been done and that "an offer will be sent this coming week."

In terms of height I guess I will agree with your statement though in terms of Greg with those previous injuries and he's no longer in his prime there's no easy access to get a slot with very known team, luckily Pureblend needs big man and they are introducing their franchise so budget might be enough and in terms of squad having him inside thats still intimidating and for sure he can still add something decent if system will rotate for him in the offensive side,.

I saw him I watched the game and GREG still greg of being a giant with a big height advantage at the court.
but i have a big doubt for th PBA comeback for him! he is not just slow but really slow! spar with JUNMAR he is far apart even in power.
but i hope im not correct and he can give more. COZ i want to see more bnigman head to heads!

Yup, while Greg Slaughter may be slow, his size definitely helps him hold his ground defensively against Junemar Fajardo. I’m not sure what was going through Greg’s mind when he abruptly left the PBA years ago, seemingly expecting teams to chase after him. He should have taken the time to sit down and talk with the teams that showed interest. Had he done that, he might have avoided the situation he finds himself in today.

Correct me, but Pureblend is the company that acquired NorthPort's franchise, right?

Well, I wonder what made him return to the PBA yet again? I guess there's no other team that wants him even in the MPBL that's why he wants to be in the PBA yet again. I wonder what will be the roster of Pureblend will be this upcoming season and as for him being the one of the few players that could limit JMF, I would agree with that as well because he's the only 7-footer in the league. JMF isn't even 7-footer, but he's a monster in the paint and a player like Slaughter would be a big help for any team if they want to limit him.

Actually I dont want to see LA doing the triangle or a much better triangle. I want to see him implement the EURO basketball or internation play.
We are so late in  terms of paly and defense is basketball worldwide. We should see tha bullet pass in the play. We should see all players touch the ball with out to much dribble or no dribble at all.
The best team in terms of offense with wide shots. This is the big reason why SMB and JMF still dominating the PBA because of the old basketball (I am JMF and solid SMB FAN) but i want to see changes!

Is this true? I’d love to know what exactly he said negative about the PBA, that’s the interesting part for me. Anyway, whether he returns or not doesn’t really matter, since he might not even be a factor anymore. From the PBA to playing overseas and now MPBL, his career hasn’t really gone upward. Even when he was still with Ginebra, he wasn’t that dominant in the paint despite his size. Now that he’s getting older, I believe he’ll just underperform if he ever comes back.

I see your point and I agree with that, modern basketball needs to be adopt by our local leagues, especially PBA who's carrying still as our nation's Basketball league, though we might see some triangle since Coach LA is a big part of that system after Jonhny A, he's the one who facilatate that from both Alaska and Gin kings as the main weapon of CTC.

Waiting if how the game will be played by both coaches, a veteran and a newcomer both have their desire to win and showcase their respective system.

I want to see LA match with other coaches specially those who he played , this is where we see how much he have grown and how much skill will he bring against other coaches and how will he teach and mold this players I'm tired of the old styles i want to see, other type of plays, not like the boring one, i just want him to prove to those who criticized him, and also ill be happy if he make it to the finals in the first year, that will be unbelievable.

Got your point kabayan but i don't think coach LA Tenorio could implement a euro-style of basketball as Filipino basketball players mentality is different from them, i mean we love to do isolation plays where fans would appreciate every hang-time moves made . The best coach who could implement change in our system is a coach from Europe which i think is very pricey but i think it's worth the money in the long run.

Not gonna happen. PBA teams aren’t going to invest in that, they can’t even invest properly in our own national team. And it doesn’t make sense anyway, why hire non-Filipinos when we can just develop our own players? Honestly, I think it would even be better if there were no imports at all, just pure Filipino players, but with a bigger number of teams so the league would be more fun.

We really dont need a European coach on this, as a coach, A professional coach you can study the play iether offense or defense by just watching games.
You can study and learn it and even improve that! by just making the play over and over with your team. As a coach you are a good student to learn plays also.

That’s the reality, but we can always try. Just look at the PBA players, they’re not paid like the players in other Asian leagues. It’s just simple logic: if you compare two companies, the one that pays better usually attracts better employees. Same thing here.

Unless the PBA can compete with other leagues when it comes to salaries, they’re not going to get the kind of player quality that can be competitive worldwide.

The problem here is the organization, the league is like scripted and if you watch you know who's going to win, not the league where i listen to the radio, competitive, players are playing on a level where they are not being held back, in todays league if the player is performing well in the league the top team will draft him and bench him on the team, after few years they will sent him in a package for a top pick, and the team agree's just like the official wants, officiating costing a team to a series, etc., they need to be remove and replace.
