It means that we are still going to see the PBA going down, i mean lost the glory that it used to have hehe.
It doesn't matter if Marcial will still be the commissioner but he got to adapt to the needs of the league to remain afloat and not sink for failure to innovate.

Sad truth Kabayan! He remains the commisioner and knowing how he handled everything, the trust and the interest of most fans is no longer present, he needs to address things that may give a new attraction to this league and try to recover interest from different era of the fans, a balance decision and not a kind of bias favoring super teams might allow new sets of breed to shine high from their original squad, I mean most of the time after giving decent performances, we will see the player being traded to either SMC or MVP which will again become dominant in adding decent player and throwing old and almost retiree stars.

The comi chua tandem, pba is on another level again, no wonder they are going down, it will be all Ginebra farming again, and the sister teams, on another story, ROS pickup stanley a 38 year old, he would be a great addition and mentor to the ROS, they are always consistent they seem not to break to the finals, an addition like that is great, since stan played with coach yeng system in gilas, hoping that this year they would break out to the finals and win, I'm tired of watching the giving game from the other teams like SMB and GIN, there should not be a sister team like before , its should be no sister team when meeting it should be i don't know you inside the court, and the main question is why the board of the pba has a member of the team?, should it be different and has no connection, since there will be a conflict of interest with regards to the ruling right?

This topic is about corruption but it’s connected to the PBA, so I thought I’d post it here.

https://cebudailynews.inquirer.net/656933/atayde-ex-district-engineer-alcantara-spotted-courtside-at-a-july-basketball-game

Check the link, you’ll see a picture of DE Henry Alcantara sitting courtside at the PBA with Arjo Atayde.
The congressman said he doesn’t know Henry, but the picture speaks for itself, they’re in VIP seats watching the PBA together. In that same photo you’ll also spot Zanjoe, Arjo’s brother-in-law, and Daniel Padilla.

they can't hide the truth!

For sure they will still deny this one hehe. They will say that it was just coincidence that they are sitting on the same row side by side. You are not a politician if you don't know how to deny allegations thrown at you. If pictures are enough to prosecute them then we may have plenty of corrupt politician rotting in jail.

It will never be enough, but at least now we see there’s a possibility that Arjo is corrupt. I don’t know - if the justice system won’t work to jail these corrupt people, I believe what happened in Nepal could also happen in the Philippines. They could be ousted by force, because the corruption here is already blatant.

Now I notice some politicians slowly leaving the admin group, because they know if worst comes to worst, the people will turn against them. And no one wants to die at the hands of the people.

Too obvious that they knew each other, and seems to me that DE Alcantara is really know what's he's role and what he needed to say, covering their butts together and not to let the complete truth to revealed but just some part of it.

Another news though really inside PBA but the gilas 3x3 competition where TR7 and Marc Tallo will play for the country, I'm hoping to see TR7 bringing again the flag on his shoulder, another great opportunity for him to represent the country.

I’m happy that Romeo is back. Even though his career was cut short by injuries, it’s exciting to see him represent the country. Hopefully they can win.

Romeo is only 33 years old (not too young, not too old), and he still has that swagger.
I’d love to see the highlights because he’s always fun to watch.

Good luck, bring home the gold!

anyway, what do you think about this news?

Personally, that one on one talk brings in the LA's experienced with how SMC handled their stars, playing for the Gin kings and staying till his career ends and now shifting to a mentoring role, I'm guessing that he shared his past experienced for this young star and give him his word in guiding him on his career.

SMC can extend up to the point where players can't really say no, for sure with the blessing of Boss Al' there's no impossible to whatever coach LA offers to Lucero..

anyway, what do you think about this news?

COLUMN: How Tenorio stepped in to keep Lucero from leaving

Coach LA Tenorio has secured Zavier Lucero on a two-year contract extension with Magnolia—a smart move for now, as the Hotshots have managed to retain another high-value player. Lucero has emerged as their go-to guy lately, and it’s clear they’re grooming him to become one of their biggest assets in the near future. Hopefully, when the time comes and Lucero reaches superstar status, he’ll choose to stay with the team and not leave for hefty payday in Japan.

He’s still young and has shown some skills for a big man. He can actually shoot, there were games before where he even made a tying 3pt shot to bring it to overtime. I think he’ll be useful if given good minutes.

Well, let’s just wait and see. There’s a lot of hype with the new coach, but we don’t know yet what the outcome will be.

Magnolia will probably have major changes too, from being a very defensive team maybe shifting to offense. Who knows.

I think the new rules of the PBA are very effective. Players can’t just easily leave even with opportunities abroad. Sure, the salary might be better overseas, but the competition is tighter. And once their contract ends, if they don’t get renewed, they can’t just come back easily because of the 3-year ban.

Even if a player has fulfilled his contract, the league can still bar him from playing in the PBA for three full seasons if he joins another league -- whether overseas or in the Philippines.

They became so desperate with the new rules that they had to stop top players from leaving, so they imposed a ban. Not just on those playing overseas but also on those transferring to other leagues. But I think the main point is really to discourage going abroad, since the PBA is the top-paying league in the Philippines but they’re not competitive in Asian countries. That’s why star players are leaving for a better paycheck.

I agree that this new rule is effective—it will make players think twice before leaving the PBA. However, the league also needs to take a hard look at itself and ensure it continues to evolve. If the PBA wants to retain top talent, it must offer competitive salaries that can truly attract and keep players. Imagine how exciting the league would be if stars like Kai Sotto, Dwight Ramos, and Carl Tamayo were suiting up in the PBA—it would elevate the game and reignite fan interest.

The is too personal, even the nba never make this kind of rule that you can't comeback if you play overseas, this shows how low the pba thinks, if the players played abroad it would be beneficial for the league because of the level of play they can showcase after acquiring things like that abroad, in the nba they ban players when they throw games, but in the pba the team giving other teams chance like sister company to go to the next round is not a crime, how will you do that to the players who wants to have high salary and play, unlike in the pba you will be just a trade package and a star player making a bench warmer, the audacity to ban while the management is making unfair trades, i just don't get it, if the nba did not do such ban, why would you, although its smc league i mean Ph league.

Let see if how thie new rule will keep those known rising stars to stay inside the league, and same with you, the salaries might be needed to adjust for the player to continue their services, as for sure their are players who will seek still for playing overseas as the amount of the potential salaries can be earned in a single season, compared with how they need to play longer years of stay with the franchise who wn thier signed contract.

How about players who will leave PBA but they made sure that the contract for the other league will expire after 3 years (atleast) ?
The main thing to do in the PBA is to make an upgrade for the salaries, for taking care of the players. the competition is being less also and some teams are for sale.
This banning will make players to think twice but not a full stop to leave the league.

I think the average contract runs for about a year, but if the player really has the talent, they can secure something longer. Based on reports, the max they can lock in overseas is 3 years, so that’s worth considering for anyone planning to leave the PBA for a foreign team.

According to @baekpd1983, Asian imports who will sign 2-3 years will get the chance for that $160,000 contract. It is lower for "1+1 year" deals.

Agree to that, money louder than anything and moving back to that quote I made with how Lucero change up his mind after talking one on one with coach LA, surely a under the table deal has been made. Like what the report said if you are really good you can take a 3-year contract which really paid so well, enough to take a long break so even there's a ban that being implemented they are more than willing to take the deal and risk their future ahead.
