2025 PBA Governor's Cup

We’ve got another set of games today.

First game starts at 5:15 PM, TNT vs NLEX. This one’s a must-watch since both teams are strong and can really go at each other.

Second game is Blackwater vs SMB. Honestly, this should’ve been the first game because we already know how this ends. SMB is going to dominate Blackwater. Still, I’m curious if they can break their biggest win this season. A 50+ point win would be crazy, make a bit of history.

Due to a really very busy schedule IRL, i forgot to bet on these games, should have won because i like the chance of TNT and SMB to win and cover the spread which they did. With that win, SMB is now on top of the standings, sharing the spot with ROS.

For today, I bet for the favorites to win and cover the spread. Though as of this writing, Phoenix and Titan Ultra are already playing with Phoenix up by a slim 5 points with 4 minutes to go into the second quarter.

Good pick, kabayan. First half is done and they’re up by 4 points. If they can maintain the momentum in the second half, they’ll likely win and cover the spread.

I think they were already up double digits in the first half, then the Titans went on a 12-0 run. Still, this game is really fun to watch, both teams are shooting well.

My bet here is over 211.5. Hopefully they keep pushing the pace so hitting the over won’t be too hard.

Ultra Titan loves to run the floor, and Phoenix is matching that pace. I don’t think they’ll change it, especially since they’re leading and shooting well.

It’s a no-bearing game for Fuel Masters anyway, so the loss doesn’t really hurt them. Titans still have a chance, but honestly it’s already very slim IMO.

Calvin and Munzon were the best players in that game if i would judge, especially that huge 4-point play from Munzon that changed the game. But Calvin’s numbers are just insane, around 17 rebounds and over 30 points. Damn, he was an absolute beast out there.

And the lead just keeps getting bigger. I’m watching the game now and the score is already 37–11 in the second quarter. Converge really needs a strong run if they want to come back in the second half, but this deficit is huge. They’d be making history if they somehow still pull off a win here.

NExt Game Meralco vs Converge... GO Converge!

Yup, Titan manage to win what a great game for a 37 years old veteran, Abueva shows that he still got something left, though a non-bearing game for the fuel master and we know that it's tough to compete when elimination ends lucky for both teams to reach the next round then be eliminated after.

2nd game looking good for Meralco but still too early 1st half not end yet and thre are adjustments that can be done if Converge will rally back they've got time as need to play decent defense and make a much better look on thier shots before taking it.

Yeah, that one was easy. I never really felt nervous watching that game. The amount I won, I rolled it over to the second game and took the under 195.5.

Hopefully it stays a low-scoring game. Meralco should keep playing solid defense and slow things down a bit, especially since they’re already leading by a lot anyway.

BTW, we had some great games tonight, especially the second and the last one.

I can't choose which team to bet on, thats why I just choose the total.

You had a very lucky night. You really maximized the win since the second game also went under. The total was only 189, and Converge couldn’t really come back against a well-experienced Meralco team. Almazan being back made a big difference. Their interior defense got much stronger, and even Converge’s bigs couldn’t dominate the paint.

Converge cant shoot the ball, struggled while the Meralco is lucky enough and their shooters making shots.  Converge made a comeback, i thought it will be a good sign and can bringthe lead in 1 digit.
from 26 down to 16 but Meralco made a run again and did not let converge to get closer.

I had a bet with my father we were drinking while watching basketball. 1 bottle of Fundador and the loser will pay for it
I let him choose and ofcorse, Titan is the weaker team so he did not choose that. I got Titan with no plus but still won

With how the standings are shaping up, Converge is likely to advance to the playoff round, though they won’t secure a twice-to-beat advantage since SMB and ROS have already locked in the top spots. ROS clinched the first twice-to-beat edge with their victory over the Magnolia Hotshots last night in Bahrain. It’s refreshing to see an independent team without a marquee superstar make it this far, and I hope they can contend for the crown this conference.

It's been so long when they last win the title but now we are seeing another great squad that coach Yeng is establishing no superstar but those young guns who really playing so well, just hoping that no trade will happen like sending Nambatac to TNT something that will change the rotation again, I like how Nocum and the rest of those young guns playing alongside each other.

They almost beat BGSM last night, if not that big shot from Thompson ROS still have that last possesion but Japeth being the inside protector manage to stop that last attempt from Nocum.

From no.3-7 spot is still close and anyone is not yet sure where there standing is, only SMB and ROS are assured of the twice-to-beat advantage so this game tonight for TNT and Meralco is crucial for their standings. Anyone knows whether the top 3 and 4 will still get the twice-to-beat advantage or they will slug it out in a best of three as usual.

For today's games my bets will be:
Blackwater +18.5 @1.82 - risky bet but i think the spread is quite high.
Meralco -4.5 @192 - non-bearing contest for SMB as they are in the top spot no matter what and they might rest Fajardo in this game that explain why they are the underdogs for this contest tonight.

I lost my bet on that game, and I’m on a bit of a losing streak in sports betting right now. Hopefully, I can bounce back in the next few days before Christmas, hehe. By the way, I saw Tenorio suiting up for the Hotshots as a playing coach. Personally, I don’t like the idea of him still playing—he could have given that spot to a younger player or focused on developing someone who can take over the point guard role for the team. Sure, he can still play, but it’s very clear that he’s slowing down.
