Yup, they need a big man that will give them inside support as per offensive arsenals they've got a lot of local players who can fill the spot, if ever they'll be able to sign Howard his inside presence will help the beermen both defense and offense as even he's no longer in his prime but the height and power can still bring aid for rebounding and towering insdie he can still intimidate the offensive attacks inside the paint.

Still have time for SMB to find and sign reinforcement that will help them to push and try to win another title.

So if this is really true, then this is the first time we’re seeing PBA allow a giant to join the league. That’s pretty interesting.

It will definitely be more exciting, especially since it’s something new and we haven’t seen this before.
I’m just wondering if Brownlee can still win Best Import, lol.

That could be true, especially since that rumor before already turned out to be true. SMB is one of the richest teams in the PBA, so they can really afford to sign a taller import if they want. If Tacko Fall is free and has no contract, I think they’re the kind of team that can actually sign someone like him. And if that happens, he’ll easily be the tallest import in the league, which is crazy to think about.

They're the ones that don't have import YET, but that doesn't mean that they will not have an import in the upcoming season. They'll find a better import, and they have the time to find a good import especially now that they'll facing the tallest import that we've seen in the PBA.

Dwight Howard in the PBA? We don't know, and TBH, respect to Dwight, but I don't think that he's that fast compared to Bol. He's too slow, and yes, he's a great defender in the paint, but he's too slow, and more of a traditional big compared to Bol where he can stretch the defend of the opposing team because he's a 3-pt shooter as well, and at the same time, he's fast. SMB and Titan Ultra needs to find an import who's fast enough to defend Bol, and at the same time, just big enough to defend him, and it's very hard to find an import like that. We'll see on who they'll be getting, but being against Bol if you're the opposing is very hard, and as long as he's healthy throughout the season, no one or at least only a few could stop him.

Personally kabayan, PBA together with MVP they bring Bol to attract viewers with him playing here chances that other teams who would like to compete may invest with their imports, for the meantime, Bol may bring interest especially if he able to showcase what he trully got, which he did not managed to showcase against the best players of the world.

Let’s hope that helps increase the PBA’s viewership, because it’s been down for many years already. I’m even happy they brought back free streaming on YouTube, so we don’t have to pay for subscriptions or rely on illegal streamers.

Nearly three years after leaving the PBA following a contract dispute with TNT, Mikey Williams is set for a homecoming.

Per multiple reports, the two-time PBA champion and two-time Finals MVP has signed a one-year contract with the Converge FiberXers.

The deal comes months after Converge acquired the rights to the 6-foot-2 guard from TNT in a trade for Jordan Heading.

So Converge really planned this all along anyway. They let go of Heading because they were aiming for something bigger. Now that he’s with this team, and Abueva is also already with Converge, you can really see they’re serious. They’re not just rebuilding, they’re aiming to become a championship team.

Lee is flying in from Australia as he’s fresh off a stint with the Cairns Taipans in the NBL, which wrapped up its regular season just last February 20.

He’s been a veteran of the said league, having played there four times. He previously suited up for Melbourne United and the Tasmania JackJumpers.

It was with the JackJumpers where he found success, as Lee helped the club snare the NBL crown in 2024 by beating Melbourne — his first NBL team.

The San Francisco-native has been a pro since 2018 after a college career that saw him play for Kentucky (2013-16) and the University of California (2017-18).

He began with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G League, and then went on a journey that has also led him to Italy, Turkey, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Poland.

Soon, he’ll be playing in Asia for the first time with SMB, who’s looking to reclaim glory in the midseason tournament after missing the playoffs last season.

Magoo Marjon has said that they're thinking on how they're going to call Bol Bol when he shoots or gets the ball. It's a good argument but people might find it funny because we know what's the meaning of his name in Filipino. But without joking, I guess that they should simply call him Bol or Manute Bol since that's also his name. As Bol said, repeating names are common in their culture and I think there's around 5 of his cousins that are also the same in their names. Regardless of that, he's going to cause storm in the league and other teams should be serious with TNT.

JUAN Gomez de Liano is set to make his debut for Gilas Pilipinas men in the Tim Cone era as he was named to the Final 12 for the home game against New Zealand in Window Two of the Fiba World Cup 2027 Asian qualifiers, sources said on Wednesday.

Aside from Gomez de Liano, also in the Gilas Final 12 were Kevin Quiambao, Chris Newsome, Calvin Oftana, Scottie Thompson, June Mar Fajardo, Cjay Perez, Carl Tamayo, Dwight Ramos, AJ Edu, Quentin Millora-Brown, and naturalized player Justin Brownlee.

As written in the report, yes, I think the last time they met, Gilas lost. So this is a big chance for them to bounce back and show that we can really compete at the international level. What worries me more right now is the absence of a solid center. With Kai Sotto reportedly not available, that leaves a big gap inside. New Zealand will most likely attack the paint, and that could hurt us if we don’t have enough size to defend and rebound.

Because of that, we really need to be consistent on offense. Our outside shooting has to be there. If we can stretch the floor and hit our perimeter shots, that can balance things out and stop them from just bullying us inside. It’s going to be tough, but not impossible if we execute properly.

I'm not pessimistic but i think the chances of Gilas to win this game against the New Zealand Tall Blacks is very slim. Like you said the Tall Blacks are disciplined and they are just so tall compared to out Gilas boys, even if Kai Sotto will play i think they will still lost. But i would like to see here what would be the performance of Juan Gomez De Liano and QMB is this window as these two will definitely help the Gilas squad.

Imports can't stop him? Probably, but there's one thing that can stop him. Injuries, and especially with that thin body, there's a chance that he might be injured. As much as I want to see him play in the PBA, the hype is too much around him already, and they're completely forgetting about the other side of things. His thin, and with how physical our league is, there's a chance that he might struggle at least a bit. Yes, he's tall, but being tall doesn't mean he can dominate. Yes he's fast compared to majority of the players, but his tiny body frame might be one reason for him to at least struggle at least a little bit. I'm not saying that he's weak, but to say that nobody can stop him is kind of exaggerating for me. It's a 5v5 game, and other teams especially those who have small lineup might struggle to even defend him, but other stronger teams can at least contain him.

Instead of having high expectations on him, let's see first on how he will be playing, or how good he is. Being in the NBA for many seasons doesn't mean that they will dominate our league already. Let's lower our expectations first shall we?

It's not only him, but what about the announcers who's announcing their names when they got a basket? Imagine Bol Bol making a 3-pt shot. Kind of funny, but that's one of the things that these should solve. One solution that I see is to just say his name only once like "Bol" only, and not saying his full name.

I'm not pessimistic but i think the chances of Gilas to win this game against the New Zealand Tall Blacks is very slim. Like you said the Tall Blacks are disciplined and they are just so tall compared to out Gilas boys, even if Kai Sotto will play i think they will still lost. But i would like to see here what would be the performance of Juan Gomez De Liano and QMB is this window as these two will definitely help the Gilas squad.

I agree to that, even if Kai will play the chemistry can't be fill within a week of practice NZ have that discipline playing together though it's hard to conclude as the game is now happening and PH gilas is doing their best to keep that lead not by a far, still early in the game first half is almost ended and those who wanted to check the odds there are still open and interesting line that you can pick to place a bet.

I missed this game. When I checked the odds, Philippines was the underdog at +6.5.

It’s already in the 4th and New Zealand only has a single digit lead, so I think there’s still a real chance Gilas can steal this one. But it’s going to depend on how they close, not just effort. Good luck to Gilas. Hopefully they protect the home court, but they really have to earn it in these final minutes.
