I missed this game. When I checked the odds, Philippines was the underdog at +6.5.

It’s already in the 4th and New Zealand only has a single digit lead, so I think there’s still a real chance Gilas can steal this one. But it’s going to depend on how they close, not just effort. They stayed competitive, especially in the 4th quarter, and didn’t just fold. It just shows they can hang with strong teams like NZ but next time they should start strong so they have a good chance.

Yeah right, if they play that run much earlier I guess we may see different outcome hehehe, I see the eagerness to win it's just so happen that their shots are not getting in, and like what you said, JBL was clearly lock by the defense he's been anticipated and refs are not buying that tight defense and not calling fouls, though Gilas loss the game for sure those loyal fans still do enjoy watching and praying for them to win.

New Zealand clearly knows the formula against Gilas, and that’s to shut down Brownlee. The problem is Gilas didn’t adjust early. They kept forcing it through him instead of letting him sit for a bit and allowing other guys to take over.

In the last quarter, it finally worked when they went with the bigs who played with more hustle. They got stops that just weren’t there in the earlier quarters. That shift made a difference. The game was also very physical, and the refs weren’t calling much early on. That didn’t really favor us, especially since New Zealand had the size and strength advantage. When it’s that kind of game, you have to adapt quicker, and I think that’s where we were a bit late.

Thanks, but it would’ve been better if they actually won the game since the crowd was really behind them and the energy was there all night. I just feel like Gilas is still lacking a few players who are confident enough to take those big shots in crucial moments, because in tight games that kind of mindset really matters.

Ramos was solid though, and without him we probably wouldn’t have even felt that late-game tension, as he was the main reason they were able to close the gap and give themselves a real chance. If that last shot had gone in, we’d probably win the game as the crowd will certainly erupt.

Thanks, but it would’ve been better if they actually won the game since the crowd was really behind them and the energy was there all night. I just feel like Gilas is still lacking a few players who are confident enough to take those big shots in crucial moments, because in tight games that kind of mindset really matters.

I agree, Dwight Ramos was instrumental in that game and if i'm not mistaken he was the leading scorer for Gilas on that game and if we have two players who have the same capabilities like that of Dwight then for sure we can beat these Tall Blacks and the Ausies in the future. On the other hand, it is a glimpse of hope for Gilas that these two new recruits, QMB and JGDL performed very well on the Gilas squad, they are vital for the future of Gilas.

March 1 will be the next game of Gilas and it will be against Australia. Wonder what the spread of that game.

He was the leading scorer and also grabbed a solid number of rebounds, finishing with 16 points and 8 boards in a low-scoring game. Meanwhile, Brownlee only had 4 points, which might be his lowest output in a long time. I don’t remember seeing him struggle that much before.

He was the leading scorer and also grabbed a solid number of rebounds, finishing with 16 points and 8 boards in a low-scoring game. Meanwhile, Brownlee only had 4 points, which might be his lowest output in a long time. I don’t remember seeing him struggle that much before.

His size alone changes how teams defend, and he can score down low too. It’s a big loss not having him in such an important game, but even with that and Brownlee struggling badly, Gilas still only lost by 3. Not many expected it to be that close under those conditions.

Not having Kai is a big hole in the paint for our Gilas, but right now, I think it's better to focus on how the Gilas played even without him.

I mean despite not having him, the Tall Blacks who's considered one of the best in Asia only won by 3 points. There are some times where the Kiwis had a double-digit lead, but our team is slowly crawling back. If there's one thing that I would want to criticize, it isn't the player, but it's their three-point shooting. I mean they only show around 19% on that game, and our Gilas Pilipinas team is one of the worst three-point shooting team in the entire elimination series right now. I will not criticize Brownlee because of how awful he played because the Tall Blacks might've find a way to stop him anyway, but if there's anything that the team needs to improve, it's their three-point shooting.

They need to get some three-point shooters in the PBA. They need to at least invite some. I can't think of anybody right now, but I do hope that they will consider this. Their next game is against the Boomers which we know is the strongest team in Asia right now. Let's not have high expectations to this one with our team, but I do hope that we will not be seeing another "Malice in the Palace 2" in our country just like what happened in PHL Arena a few years ago where both teams brawled.
