I believe they have Abueva as well...so its not little by little.. they really are serious.

But do you think that’s already enough for them to beat strong teams like the TNT Tropang 5G or San Miguel Beermen? Those teams are still very tough to beat, especially when it comes to experience and depth, but his young team is hungry for a title.

We never really know, but on paper they look like a strong team now. I’d even say they might be better than TNT at the moment, especially now that they have Mikey Williams.

So the real challenge now is on the coaching side. It would be a waste of talent if the team has all the pieces but the coach isn’t on the same level as the top coaches in the league. Talent can only go so far if the system and leadership aren’t there.

That’s a real concern. It would be a waste of talent if the coach isn’t good enough, because things can easily turn into chaos inside the team once the players start losing confidence.

I think Mikey Williams is a very vocal player too. If he’s not happy with something, he might even say it publicly. With his leadership mentality he’ll probably try to lead the team himself, especially since they already have the talent. He’s still relatively new to the group though, so the roles have to be clear. If they brought him in to be one of the leaders, then the team needs to recognize that. Everyone just has to cooperate and respect the system if they want things to work.

MIKEY Williams is now gearing up for his PBA return with Converge.

Williams posted an Instagram Story confirming that he is already in the country, joining the FiberXers and participating in their recent team building.

With how I'm seeing them Kabayan, they are more competitive after acquiring Abueva and Williams, they already added JGL which is  good combination for Williams together with Arana, Balti and the reinforcement which will play a big role for them, they need a legit big man and I do see from those early practice and exbition games the import that they acquire can bring that energy to help the team to be more competitive, lets wait and see if how they'll going to perform this upcoming season.

Converge and TNT are the teams that i'm looking that will perform well in the coming days. March 11 is just around the corner and i'm excited on how these teams perform.

I'm also eyeing for TNT as I want to see how Bol will fit himself as reinforcement for TNT, we've seen them performs well during the AFC then adding a NBA caliber with both height and skills advantage, it's going to be interesting especially if Bol will bring all in while playing for TNT.

Yes Kabayan, though knowing coach Chot and MVP, they'll not going to invest with something that they'll not going to benefit, I mean, Bol may bring free advertisement for the business and if he played well that's going to be an additional benefits for the whole business, and talking about how he'll going to play, it's going to depend on how coach Chot will use him and blend him with his local core players, as I mentioned from my other post that Castro may play this season and he surely he can take care of their system to properly and maximize the use of their import.

Just saw the news and noticed a familiar name. Happy that this guy won, I think he really deserved it. He’s been an underrated player for a while now and doesn’t always get the recognition he should.

Ahanmisi started his historic day in the kickoff of court action in the Season 50 PBA All Star Weekend backed by ArenaPlus at the Candon City Arena with a winning performance in the obstacle-filled contest among backcourt men, the same event his elder brother Maverick ruled 10 years ago.Showing his agility and quickness, the younger Ahanmisi navigated the course filled with obstacles, including two passing goals, and knocked down shots on designated areas in 24.94 seconds  to beat five others in a thrilling finale.

It’s All-Star weekend, did you guys follow the event?
Just saw the news and noticed a familiar name. Happy that this guy won, I think he really deserved it. He’s been an underrated player for a while now and doesn’t always get the recognition he should.

I noticed him back when he was still playing for the Magnolia Hotshots, he was already very good with those four-point shots. So it’s not really surprising that he won that competition. Still a bit surprising that Magnolia let him go. Maybe he had some issues on the defensive side, just my guess. Sometimes that’s the trade-off with pure shooters.

It’s a bit sad though seeing a good shooter end up on a farm team. Hopefully he gets picked up by a real contender so he can have a chance to compete for a title. Just like what happened to Calvin Abueva, people thought his career was almost over but then Converge FiberXers picked him up and now they’re starting to look like a serious threat.

Second game is Macau Black Bears vs Converge FiberXers. This one looks more interesting to me, I want to see how the visiting team will perform. If the odds are good for Converge I might back them, actually whoever ends up being the underdog is probably where I’ll put my bet.

No betting odds yet for this game but for sure i'll be backing whoever will be the underdog of this game. I hope that Converge will be the underdog. I would like to see how Mikey Williams will blend to his new team and also hoping that this Kylor Kelley is a good fit for Converge. Two more nights and we are going to see once again our beloved PBA back in action with these giant imports.

I wonder if the change in the height limit on imports will have an effect towards the empty seats especially to those independent teams just like what we will be watching in the first day of the Commissioner's Cup.

Like you, the second game is more interesting not only because it's a visiting team, but I wonder how Converge will be playing right now that they have a very tall import, and they also have Mikey Williams as well. I'm just a bit curious on how Juan GDL and Williams play together or will they sync perfectly. TBH, aside from the ROS, Converge is also the team that has good young and talented players. I just do hope that they will not become a farm team just like what big teams are doing with other independent teams.

TBH, it's hard to put some bets right now because it's the first game, and we don't know how strong each team is. I'll treat this first game of them as a way for me to see how they will perform all throughout the whole conference.

Though most likely it was the reinforcement that's needed to carry the team but with Williams and JGL we might see the efforts of these local players, together with the whole core and role players it really interesting to see that they are the first team to play agains the guest team, both SMC and MVP group will be able to study and analyze how the visiting team play their system after witnessing the game.

They have to respect them, but honestly there’s nothing to worry about yet since no guest team has ever won a championship in the PBA.

The last time a guest team came close was when the BAD reached the finals, but Barangay Ginebra still managed to beat them. iirc that even went to Game 7.
So you can see the home court advantage still plays a big role. No matter how strong the visiting team is, it’s still very difficult for them to win a championship here.

Fans were really happy about that. You know how it is with Ginebra, when they’re playing everyone tunes in. It’s always good for the PBA if they reach the finals because that’s when the league usually generates the most attention and revenue. Sometimes it even feels like without Ginebra the league struggles a bit to keep the same number of viewers. But having a guest team in the conference also makes things interesting, it adds a different kind of excitement.

I actually checked the odds already hoping to see the line for the game between Converge FiberXers and the visiting team, but there’s nothing yet. Maybe it will be posted tomorrow, I’m curious to see where the line will open.
