Imagine, it went to double overtime even though Brownlee was not scoring well. The outcome was not good since we lost, but it was able to reveal the talent of our local players. So even without a naturalized player, I think we can still compete.

That is the kind of stats we want to see, where the scoring is well spread and the team is not relying on one player only.

yes, correct, it prove that our young local players are the future of Gilas, and i like the coaching style of Tim cone although they lost.
Also, if you notice, JMF the best player in the PBA are nothing but just an ordinary player there, can't even lead the team.

Even if Justine Brownlee is 100 percent healthy, New Zealand has done a very good job of defending him because they knew that he is Gilas' best player and a scorer. Every time he got the ball there is a always a double coming to him so he was forced to pass the ball to an open team mates and luckily our shooters found their mark that is why we make the game close. If not for those 3's made by KQ, JGDL and Tamayo Gilas could have been blewn out. What happened in that Gilas game is a good indication that the PH team is not reliant on Brownlee anymore as more scorers can score if needed.

I agree to that, we witness how good our locals imagine them playing inside PBA they might adds up more excitement andentertanment but they choose to play outside since the paycheck is really decent. On my own personal take, if ever Kai's present is inside that paint it's easier to win as the locals are really providng numbers it's just not for us those crucial FT and those plays that become a TO that's something that might bring the win but it happened and the Nationals needs to move forward and find the right blend and chemistries to win, hopefully even against the unwinnable aussies.

Putting Brownlee and play might boost the morale of the team, but it will not change the outcome especially they're up against Australian Boomers.

I think this is the best thing to for our Gilas right now. To let our naturalized player rest because of an injury. Aside from that, the Commissioner's Cup will be starting a few weeks after this 3rd window, and Ginebra's import will be Brownlee. Of course, Coach Tim Cone will not risk it and let Brownlee play because there's a chance that he might not even suit up and play in the PBA. Brownlee's offense will be missed, but I think now is the time for our young guns to step up and carry the team.

Relying on one player alone is bad for the team. I know that our Gilas will not win on this one, but at least I want to see our young Gilas team to have the best performance that they could have.

Hopefully, that even in Brownlee's absence, the boys will be able to win this game. We know the history of Gilas versus Australia, and they usually win against the Gilas team.

Relying on one player alone is bad for the team. I know that our Gilas will not win on this one, but at least I want to see our young Gilas team to have the best performance that they could have.

A blow out win indeed for the Boomers, the score is 92-49, a 43-point lead by the Australians. We are no match for this world power Australians, i thought that we could come back as they were having a bad second quarter only scoring 8 points after scoring a barage in the 1st canto but they bounce back hard in the second half.

The handicap for Gilas in this game is 25 points but i took the opposite and luckily won tonight, not happy but i just put my money where i think it should be.

Well good you didn't watch, because you will get bald scratching your head seeing how many errors they made. Also it seems that they struggle to do defensive stop against Australia and they let the lead to go as higher as that.

They are the world number 6, so the result is not surprising at all. If Brownlee was playing, maybe we would not lose that badly, but he was out due to injury, so it was just our locals battling against a very good team. This is something we have to learn from, but the good news is that we still finished 3rd, so we qualify for the next round if I am not mistaken. It's painful to watch the game a while ago. I thought at the 2nd quarter, the Gilas will be able to lessen the lead of Australia. But then, come 3rd quarter and everything went downhill and terrible for them. I see that all of them have bad hands in shooting and they're all slow in moving. I'm not sure what's happening, I'm only impressed with Junemar and Philips. KQ's shooting is as well not that good although he made several points as well. While Gilas will enter the 2nd round but this game against Australia and as well as New Zealand is always the same.

Yes, we will clinch into the 2nd round, and that's the teams that our Gilas will be competing with. Anyway, the Aussies dominated our team 92-49 which is already expected so congratulations to those who put a bet on the game.

Our first game will be against Jordan on August 28. TBH, looking at the teams that our Gilas will be competing, they'll be having a hard time reaching the top 3 because only 3 teams will be clinching on the next round (excluding the 4th-place best team and Qatar which is the host country). Maybe we can defeat Syria, but will be having a hard time defeating the Tall Blacks. I wonder though if our Gilas can compete against Iran and Jordan. I guess we need to have a complete roster, and I mean, the best of the best players.

It is painful if you were expecting Gilas to win without Brownlee. Actually, in the many games they have played against each other, I cannot even remember if we were able to make it close against them. That team has been so dominant even before. Based on the final score, we lost that match and it put Gilas to shame in front of the world. I also watched the game, and I believe Australia was really trying to provoke us with their very physical defense. Because they were bigger and of course better, we lost that game. But because of the high physicality, some players became emotional and that resulted in the brawl. That also shows that we always defend our home court. We cannot be bullied there.

Australia is an elite team, their national team could even fight for the gold medal in the Olympics or the FIBA world cup while the Philippine team is just assembled days before the tournament so we can't expect to beat a team like Australia even if Brownlee and Kai Sotto is around.

On the next round, Gilas is grouped with Syria, Iran and Jordan if i'm not mistaken. Those three teams i think we have a chance to go 2 out of 3 as we have beaten these teams before.
