Gambling as a profession: there's people who live out of gambling?

some of us such as me, for over 30 years, 100% of my entire income has been from gambling. when u are autistic and unemployable because u make everyone so angry with your weird beliefs and fears with no work history since the min wage was $3.35 an hour, at age 19, and now are 51, u really have no other choice but to gamble for a living.

i dont regret it, i make about 50k a year now and used to only make about 25k when i knew less about poker than i do now, and its far better than what id earn at mc d or walmart so i dont regret it for a minute.

The only way for you to make money from this is probably skills are involved more than pure luck. Otherwise it would be like saying "I make $50k/year by playing dice." which is as we know practically impossible.

It's still unbelievable for some people that it can't be a career. They only see the negative on it but don't recognize those gamblers who have made well on it.

Maybe a few in hundreds and thousands but it is undeniable that there are good stories that have lived it with gambling.

some people will live in denial and won't accept that there are many ways to live life and that work doesn't have to be a burden or something that makes us feel unhappy, these people will deny different ways to live and sometimes even try to combat it.

sometimes facing reality is quite hard.

It's just unbelievable although it's already common to see professional gamblers living their lives the way they want it. They're even more earning from the minimum wage but, they could lose it within less than a day.

It is no surprise that there are people who makes a living with gambling and you sir, is a living testimony of the possibilities of the said "career". Professional gamblers have a lot of discipline with regards to the management of their money in such way that it makes them almost living their daily lives very thriftily. I myself was a professional gambler before playing poker but gambling places attracts all kinds of people especially the bad apples of society. I stopped after calling it quits due to me seeking other alternatives.

I think people who initially makes a big money have more chances that they may get into gambling as a full time basis rather than other who strays with losses . Though their would be People who might play after losing on a recover mode and eventually may get addicted and stick to it . But I cannot this for myself as a full time basis as their is no guarantee of making money in it .

This is poker, it's based on skills in winning so I believe it's possible for a gambler to win that amount, whether he is telling the truth or not.

I believe he has high skills in poker, which he developed a long time ago to make him win on the poker game. We know poker games are not just based on luck, but it needs skills to win from the other players. I am sure if he has high poker skills while his opponent doesn't have enough skills to beat him, he will win many times because the poker game will depend on how good you play poker game. I am sure that some people who have good skills in poker will also win the game, but they do not tell other people about their skills.

I was also amazed by the fact that you can for more than 50k a year and fpr 30 years is definitely a shocking thing because we all know how difficult to win in every game in gambling. The possibility or probability of winning is set only for 50% and other 50% is the chance of loosing. As I understand, gambling is a matter of techniques and strategies. Yoi need to have one of it or a lot of it in order for you to survive. Losing is not a joke and losing a lot of money is a very serious thing but how could you win if you don't the the risk. That is a great success story. Being a poker professional is awesome, you are your own boss, can work from home and make a decent amount of money. Do you have a lot of variance in your earnings or are you pretty consistent with 50k a year? Unfortunately I never made it to the higher stakes poker tables so my earnings are fairly small compared to yours. Do you also play other games or only poker? I think that poker is something special since you don't really play against the casino, you play agains other players. To make such a big profit you need other players to lose that amount. The casinos usually take a fixed rake rate and doesn't care who is winning and losing.

But still, for him to win somebody else needs to lose. And to be on the positive side of the charts, he must be winning almost all the time! How come he beats all of his opponents? This is the only way to turn playing poker into a business, am I right?

Dota or CSGO is a skill based game too. (with some luck elements) Even if you are very good at playing those games you cannot beat everybody... or can you?

I know he acquired these skills in 30 years but I still cannot understand... and I guess won't ever till I learn playing Poker.

That is a great success story. Being a poker professional is awesome, you are your own boss, can work from home and make a decent amount of money. You would really able to tell the difference when you do make comparison between card games or mostly on the strategic side compared on games which are against the house.
If you do try to check out in most professional gamblers who does make money on a very good manner or lets say they can able to sustain their needs or living then its
mostly talks on card games or simply poker or with sports betting.These are the only gambling games that can potentially give that kind of possibility.

not if you have an edge, I think the idea of living from gamble just make sense in this case, you can have an edge on poker buy developing skill (again: I don't even consider poker gambling, but example makes sense here).

otherwise, just relying on pure luck is a bit like playing russian roullete, but the other way around.

I think there are guys who are living to play gambling but I don't think there is a person who makes gambling his main source of income because it is nearly impossible since the probability of winning on any gambling is not a hundred percent sure. I know a lot of guys who live their life on gambling but they also have a job that can support their daily expenses and their investment before they gamble. Even me, I am gambling with a lot of money but I don't think I can live my life just gambling because it may affect a lot of things in my body. I am only gambling when I have extra money but if I don't have, I am not letting myself cut the food or other expenses just to gamble because I know that gambling is not a sure income and might kill all of my investment.
