For now, Madrid can probably still be said to be trying to look as good as possible and survive as much as possible until next season's transfer. You're right though Vinicius Junior was the missing piece in their attack though they adapted well and still won matches with his presence, all thanks to Jude Bellingham's good form,  Vinicius Junior makes winning very easy for Realmadrid, he's skilled, got the pace and could tournament the opposition defense and give good crosses that lead to goals.

 However I doubt Realmadrid's performance was better than this, about last season they didn't really perform well at the beginning of the season but this season they managed to win alot of games and are currently the league leaders, if they had loaned another striker to support Joselu it would had been better However what I love about the team is the they strive to succeed no matter the situation they're in and I believe this season would be better than the previous cause they're on the right track.

Madrid could even still cover it with some great wingers and combined with a great attacking midfielder. Ancellotti is such a genius. Real madrid was still even able in beating napoli even without a great attacker who was playing for the club.

Regarding Real Madrid still on the top performance, I don't think problem with Joselu performance because he has big contribution helped Madrid on the top standings not only in La Liga but also in Champion League. Have good performance with Jude Bellingham, its nothing with Madrid have spent above 100 million euro for signing him because have scored 8 goals on all competition for Madrid.
