There are still some projects that are doing ICO and they can be legit. But IEOs are a better scheme, because those tokens will directly be listed on exchanges where IEO was held and for ICO you are forced to wait several months before listing.

Its hard to tell whether an ICO is legit or not, even an IEO we can't really tell if it is legit or not. There are some IEOs that are not legit and just following the hype the IEOs just to raise more money. To conclude this, we must check the project if they are legit or not, it doesn't matter how they conduct their fundraising. ICO or IEOs,it doesn't matter as long as they are legit and the team are very active in public events.

IEO has the same problem with ICO at some point, one of which is the problem of fraud, so we cannot say that IEO is better than ICO, I think ICO is still good in some places, ICO drives prices to remain stable at the time of listing, but many IEO loses prices when they register, because their investors are not well controlled, ICO is more controlled, because they can pump prices when prices fall, and investors can also enjoy profits properly.

Well ICOs is unreliable way to getting investors nowadays since people are hesitant to invest in ICOs since they tend to run away if the project is done although on the good side ICOs price are way more stable than IEOs sonce they are centralizing the distribution in order to prevent the dumpers to dump their tokens once they hit on exchanges but in IEO since the token was listed on exchanges already, the tokens were immediately dumped after the distribution due to investors wanting to profit. so, in security IEO is way more secure but more prone of dumping and ICOs are unsecure to investors due to fraud but if the ICO is sucessful it can control the volume since they are centralizing the distribution.

First thing you need to understand is that ICOs were never criminalized. So it remains legit until the project owners decide to exit scam. Also, IEOs came in as a more responsible way of raising funds than the risky ICOs however, it doesn't mean IEO projects cannot also exit scam. Take bluenote for example where IEO raised money at dobitrade exchange but the owner is silent now and there is no update on project development ever since. And the volume on the exchange is good as dead too

There are still some legit ICO's running around. The problem is that those projects can't get away with the scam factor that most ICO are previously and up to today. So it's really hard for them to get investor because of that.

Only 1% out of 100% of ICO projects are legit and the few ones i know of are using both ICO and IEO to raise fund,ICO can't be trusted like in the past anymore but what should be more important to investors should be how good the project is, as for me if i come across any well made ICO project i won't hesitate to invest,action speaks louder than words

For an example many of the IEO gone through binance launchpad had done an ICO, they were selected during the ICO process and a percentage of their ICO token was sold as IEO.

Probably some, but I think there still some legit ICOs who are doing a private placement cause they are still in need of funds. Take a look on ferrum network, they didnt do any IEO but it turns out their project is very legit and worth more than some IEOs out there. Its just a matter of doing researches and more diligence. I think the only problem is the loss of trust of some investors due to previous incident of scam ICOs.

Some of the current ICO investors are just newbies who saw examples of ICO's yielding huge returns in the past, and now they think it can happen again, so they keep investing in more and more ICO's. Others understand that it's probably a scam, but they hope for a random pump to take their profits. Bounty hunters spend their time on ICO's because they have nothing left to do.

But if an ICO gets investments, it doesn't necessarily mean that those investments are real, people who run ICO's can easily just sell coins to themselves, in order to make it look like their ICO is hot, so they can lure more investors. Projects that do their crowdfunding via ICO's are high risk, it's been proven, but there are two sides of the coin, the project may be legit and they don't have enough funds to do IEO to list their coins, and some projects do ICO because they see some investors still doing it and these  are scam projects, still trying to victimize people.

I believe the legitimacy of an ICO depends on the team that is running it.  It may be a legit or a scam project but if you are saying if it is obsolete or not depends on the marketing team of the said project.  How well they organize their team, their marketing moves, and advertisement.  Majority of these ICO are half-baked, in a sense that they rush things.  They launch a marketing campaign without understanding the needed aspects for their project to be successful.  Both ICO, IEO,STO and any form of fund raising depends on their marketing strategy and influence (the people behind the project) to be able to be successful.

People invest to gain money, that is the simple answer.  STO, IEO also have the same possibility that the project is a scam and yet people still invest on it.

In addition to ICO, IEO can be considered a safe solution for all investors, but there will be a lot of risks if you are not careful because IEO is just an improved version of the ICO.

I can't say if they are scam or not because they know what they want. I have seen a project which did ICO this year and it finished as fast as possible as if it was IEO, and the team proceeded to list on a good exchange thereafter. So we can't tag them scam until we study them to know what actually made them stick to ICO rather than IEO. I think one of the big issue with ICOs is listing, where a project can have a good ICO success and listing will be an issue, but in the case of IEO, you know exactly what to expect.

Some new projects attract many investors because of the potential of their projects in the future. Many projects offer big bonuses for early investors and I think this is an incentive from the developer team. I have only heard of 1 project that did ICO this year, the rest all switched to IEO because they have seen the clear results that ICOs aren't worth it. Not all new projects that do ICO are ugly because there are some that have constraints when going to IEO. To do an IEO on the exchanger, the team needs to pay money first to pay a fee and for new projects, this feels hard to do so they prefer to do ICO over IEO. The only good thing that I am seeing with IEO is the assurance that their coin will be listed in the exchange after the sale.

I don't know, but I think there are still a lot of people talking about ICO because of its history, this offering model is a legend in the history of crowdfunding cryptocurrency that gets a lot of funds and also the opposite is also a lot of project scams that managed to steal tens of millions of dollars here. I also don't understand why they made such a mistake. Obviously there is something going on with them, if there were no allegations from ATTN holdings and Evos Esport then this project would have been successful IEO and then the project would be a scam.

Thankfully, Okex corrected this mistake by canceling the ATTN project and Okex will undoubtedly examine it further as any project will be risky. I am also fortunate not to participate and certainly, the bounty hunters here should be avoided as it will only waste your time. Anyway, be extra careful as IEO at large exchanges are always risky if you don't double check.

I think so, we still need to see how well they grow after sucessfully finding an investor and keep watching the whole ICO market aswell. I'm not sure ICO will get a place for investors anymore. New projects must have a better way to get investors. products, markets, and updates become very important at this time. if they want to be in the market they must be able to have a decent product.

The basic issues still remain and I can't find any improvement in the situation. The project teams continue to ignore the requests made by bounty hunters. Many ICO scam projects in this market and before doing something please take the time to analyze to reduce the risk to the lowest level. There are a few other ICOs that can still raise funds this year, but then they have disappointed investors. Projects become scams or price drops many times after being listed on small exchanges in this market. So do not waste time with ICOs, buy the top altcoins in this market or choose IEO at major exchanges like Binance, Huobi, MXC ...

Be happy with what you have got. Gone are the days when shady projects with cooked up stories could accumulate tens of millions of USD worth of funds from the market. Nowadays the investors are smart and they are more cautious. A good idea alone is not enough to guarantee the success of an ICO nowadays. You need to have a well defined plan on how to execute it.

There are anomalies like the AVA one, but most of upcoming projects tend to collect all of their funds in private and pre-sale rounds, avoiding the mess that could come out of running a traditional ICO. I believe that Defi will be like ICOs, in the first phase, the projects will be profitable for investors. But after a while, scam projects will start to appear and make investors lose. Be careful when you want to invest in Defi projects, it's not really as secure as IEO

I think the current Defi projects are no different from ICO projects because it has the same fundraising method and it is also risky if you are not careful when buying.

I agree, there are many bad apples in ICO. Personally I am much more cautious now and try to not go for the ICO directly anymore. It's better in my opinion to wait a few weeks and see how actively the altcoins are traded after their launch. What is the point to be part of a big ICO just to see all people running for the exit afterwards.

When it comes to investing people should do their own research if they find something that will interest and they think that the project is good and honest even on the cost of sending their money unprotected because of the nature of ICO, they should know the risk of investing in ICO type of investment, projects still prefer ICO because there are still investors investing in ICO when it should be stopped because of the many scams that happen in the past.

Previously, ICO was replaced with IEO, for the safety of user funds. But after the DeFi hype was huge, now even ICOs have started growing again and some projects are scam. There are also projects still using the ICO system using platforms such as the Bounce Platform or Zoom Protocol. I did that, because I saw this project as good. Why doesn't the project do an IEO. because now the IEO is not what it used to be. And back to the ICO, but in general we do have to be careful.

Of course, Ico is still legit but less profitable for now, and the ico project still exists but 99% scams.
So for now it is better to leave ico if there is more profitable than such a defi project.
Defi is not much different from ieo and ico, the difference is the system only. All three are cryptocurrency projects.
Since it is on popular, then we have to follow the trend, and the same with ico someday surely the defi project will also end the trend just do not know when it will happen.

ICO is almost non existent now, not because they are barred from operating but because they can't find investors.
The mindset of the investors about ICO was already fix, ICO=SCAM.

well ICO goes long time before finally turns scam so saying that IEO will not end the same is too early to talk.
Yeah they are making good move these days but lets see in years to come.

For me ICOs are not effective anymore hence these type of crowd funding are prone to turn into scams and there were lots of scam projects that during 2018 and 2019 respectively were ran thru ICOs that more likely ended up to scam. IEOs are most trusted now wherein investors can take assurance  if anything goes wrong or it failed to gather a certain amount of funds they are guaranteed to be refunded by the exchange platform.

Legit for ICO defi, apart from ICO defi I think many fail, I am surprised, many ICO Defi is now much more trusted,
even though they don't do IEO on popular exchanges, for example XYFI, they get very large funds from ICO,
even though their team is anonymous I don't know what it will end,

For projects that are legal like you said, they will not be afraid to lose interest from investors by choosing to do ICO over IEO. Because experienced investors certainly know which projects are legal or at least sponsored by registered companies.

be careful with KYC, not everything that is legal and asks for KYC can look good. sometimes you will just fall victim to documents that were taken away by a project scam. we have seen it in the past, don't be repeated for this year and in the future. The ICO may still be running, but how can the market respond when a clearer one is on the market?

I think something is upside down, now it's not the era of ICO anymore, even IEOs have started to be quiet since DeFi was established, although some people still think that DeFi won't last long, but DeFi is currently in a good trend.

There are still legit ICOs like , the graph which is happening today but seems like farming and staking is working better, no risk of getting a pulled rug, and You can stake and farm with stable coins.

Not all ICOs are legit indeed, but not all ICOs are scam, there are some real project although only 1 or 2 projects at the moment.
The key is, never quickly decide to invest on project without proper due diligence or we will lose our money.

Yes, In each era you could see good ICOs and Scam ICOs, Even in 2017 when it was ICO time, there were so many scam ICOs, now something newer than ICO has come recently called IPO, upcoming IPO I'm looking forward to is Equilibrium, Equilibrium token swap is over, so I consider taking part in their IPO on Polkadot. Seems like a no-risk deal, so I can take my DOTs back under any scenario.

People are investing still in ICO because they are still hoping to have a good coin. Yes, it will give you an instant money but the risk potential that you are facing is too high. As we all know that ICO had scammed issue even before. In fact, many people lose their lives because of it. Therefore, those who are still believing from ICO are tough and has a lot of money to be spend. They are also the investors who won from past ICOs that gave to them much of money. We don`t know the cause, we should just wish good result for them.

It's a case to case basis ICO can only become legit if a project that is holding this type of crowdfunding is legit and the developers are worthy of trust but, if the project is unquestionable then the ICO is not going to be legit.

Investors should only support projects that's holding an ICO if they are legit, because you have no way to get your money back in case the developers run away with your money, there are a lot of risk attach to ICO, and it was proven by many failed projects in the past.

You are right there is some project which has conducted ICo on their own platform like AMEPAY and they have successfully got the soft cap and private sale is in progress. I think it depends on the project and its team which makes trust and investors interest to invest in the project.

Yes, I agree that ICO is still alive, There are lots of projects most especially yield farming projects using the ICO kind of way to raise funds to be used in build the platform. It will be never gone, but seldomly use. I guess time will come that ICO will be revive there will be no other options or way to raise funds through ICO.
