Hey guys, 1st, thank you to sidehack and daemonfox for answering my earlier concerns on whether or not it is still profitable to bitcoin mine. I do remember someone in this thread asking if it is better to push or pull air into/out of the radiator and so after doing some quick research it appears that performance would be the same whether push or pull and there is no reason to configure the radiators to push and pull(fans on both sides of the radiator) because you can get good fans which will give the same performance just pushing or pulling as if one would set up their radiator fans to push and pull. The only upside to configure the radiator fans to pull is it will not dust up or clog the radiator with dust nearly as much as pulling the air from the radiator and it would be easier to, once in a while, clean the dust off of the radiator. It seems to me that in an enclosed environment the air circulation can be controlled better with such a setup as taking any case, ripping off the front plate, covering the front full of intake fans and the upper back or the full back as well as the top with exhaust fans, the habanero setup can be mounted on long legs(so that there would be lots of space for airflow on both sides of habanero) to the case screw holes where the motherboard would go and on the side door one could cut out a hole to mount the radiator, but just a thought, maybe it is not even worth going through all this trouble if there is not going to be a big difference in cooling or maybe in a full tower one can mount 2 setups of the habanero which would make things neater I guess.

You'd still want airflow/cooling over the VRM's. I personally would enclose them depending on how many you have. [edit] and yes, pull is definitely more efficient.

I plan on pushing. The radiator will be mounted in a window to blow all the heat out of the house directly without my fans getting rained on.

Yeah, If I get one, my plan is to push while placing fans perpendicular to the heatsink/board to cool the underside of the board.
Here is hoping I get a chance to play with one =) Any word on the testing yesterday? When are you all going to make the decision to reopen batch 2 or not?

I just had quite the thought (after trimming my hedges in 87F heat .... and no I wasn't "ManScaping" outside). If for some reason you can't do a batch 3 of the Habanero boards with the HF GN chips (due the chips not being available) what would you think of a GroupBuy of the CoinTerra Chips and doing a board for those? As I do the math the block of 525 CoinTerra chips should do around 236.25TH if you assume an average of 450GH/s per chip. You could call this one the "Bhut Jolokia" board. Hope all is well.

As for now a higher MHz get me 105 and an overheat.
(I do want to figure out how to get the board up to 650 gh/s.)

That stuff is about as good as AS5, the benefit being its not conductive =) and IIRC , I dont think it has as long as a curing time as AS5

Hello all, I know I'm a newbie, though I've been mining KnC from the get go. After the Super Jupiter fiasco I have decided to go a different route. Though during that time, the main problem people had with the Super Jup was the fact that the Arctic A30/i30 radiators weren't mounted to the ASICs properly. I run a small shop and quickly reproduced the original mounting solution for the community. I know the last thing people wanted to do was spend more money, but in the short time frame and with keeping costs as low as possible, I had a lot of happy customers. If you are interested in verifying, you can join the KnC forum and check it out. I've got the same handle. I received my Habanero a little over a week ago and I'm in the process of designing an enclosure for the Habanero. I am open to any and all suggestions, as well I've been following other users thoughts regarding air flow around the board, whether push or pull is more efficient, etc. Though I know a few people who have received a completed HashFast product, most have run them with the case open. That may be the best solution, though with all the components mounted in a logical and efficient manner. Good luck to everyone in their quest for quickness ... Ski

I have a Cooler Master glacier with fans upgraded to Delta 240 CFM fans. I added a TON of air flow across the top of the board and I can now pull: MHz: 750 GH/s: ~550 Temp: 97, 98, 100, 96 Its a lot of air across the top of the board. I am guessing that if I could figure out the cooling that this board would scale like yours up to 650 gh/s at 875mhz. It seems like I am not doing something to optimally cool the board.

I'd like a chassis to mount a dual fan water cooler off to the side.. as well as mount 2 additional 120mm fans to give a huge amount of airflow across the top and bottom of the board.

intel and Nvidia are definitely already pressing 14nm tech... and AMD is moving out of 22nm now and starting to work at the 14nm level. This means there is not a single SHA256d ASIC developer out there that could get production time anytime soon. At BEST, someone will eventually get in the abandoned 22nm line when INTEL, AMD and Nvidia have all moved the majority of their product to the new 14nm on a solid basis.
What does this mean for us miners? It means you will see one more "double down" in ASIC efficiency in the next 18 months which will kill off 65nm and 55nm miners completely. Look at it this way...
1. 65nm BFL chips are turning LESS than 2 cents per day per GH/s at $.10 per kWh at 5-6 J/GH/s 2. 55nm Bitmain chips are turning LESS than 2.5 cents per day per GH/s at $.10 per kWh at 2+ J/GH/s 3. 28nm HF Habaneros are turning LESS than 2.6 cents per day per GH/s ay $.10 per kWh at 1 J/GH/s
Nothing that I have seen (that I believe anyways) has proven to really mine below the 1 J/GH/s mark yet... that can be had by consumers at this point. I won't believe the Monarch figures until someone third party verifies it in their own hands. The odds of us seeing a 22nm product that is double the efficiency of these 28nm products is laughably impossible. Not until 14nm ASICs will we see a double down from these Habaneros and other 28nm miners. The time and funds it is going to take to develop 22nm would almost be for naught except it is going to be the second halving before anyone can say they have a 14nm chip lined up at the foundry.
Put all that together and you should see, by the end of the year, a price increase in BTC, a plateau in difficulty... and people ditching their old gear for 28nm as quickly as the vendors can stock the miners... all of which should enable a Habanero to ROI this year.
If anyone disagrees or has anything to add or clarify on the above... i welcome feedback.

Intel have a lot of $ in 14nm, I doubt Nvidia will have anything smaller than 22nm in 2015. I think we won't see any miner ASIC smaller than 28nm for a long while.

I have used the stock coolermaster, AS 5, and Artic Alumina (ceramic based). The Alumina is on there now. I did that earlier today. The monitoring tool shows all 4 dies running... but I don't see a section that shows info about the engines.

The monitoring tool shows all 4 dies running... but I don't see a section that shows info about the engines. I'd look at seating the waterblock again. My best results came with the block finger-tight plus a little(~1 turn). Cranking it down got me higher temps. With tons of air through the rad and tons of air on both sides of the board, you should be able to push it up.
