Hello there, just want to confirm I'm doing it right https://imgur.com/JQBo6ZmI know, its a ridiculous hashrate, its a 3070ti. I'm only trying to get into solo mining just for fun, you know the same way you spend money on euromillion or lottery. You're not doing it right, you can't mine bitcoin with a gpu. Your hashrate is so small it will take years for the pool to even notice you are mining.

You're trying to mine Bitcoin with a GPU, you would need at least one ASIC to play the lottery. As -ck has said multiple times: Get an ASIC. You can't meaningfully mine bitcoin with a GPU, and I removed the code to do so from cgminer almost a decade ago.

Hello, is there a way to get notified over email if you hit a block?? It would be a nice feature. Thank you.
Just get a wallet with an app that notifies you of a deposit, nice hash, binance whatever 1) Those are third party sites and not under your own control: not your keys, not your bitcoin. Don't think that is very smart. 2) some sites do not accept coinbase transactions as a deposit so if one is to use one of those 'wallets' then make damn sure they allow it. curious...when you say "coinbase" transactions, do you mean because the coin has just been mined and is brand new, so to speak? Thanks.

Cool thanks. Yeah I've been checking out mempool.space to try and find the block difficulty so I can compare to my best share, which so far is 5193413666 (it seems pretty low to me, am I right? lol). There is so much information on that site that I don't know about yet. It makes me realize how much I still don't know about when it comes to the technicals behind crypto. It's cool though...gives me stuff to google all night (or in my case, presearch haha). Anyhow, where is the difficulty so I can compare my best share with the current blocks being mined? Thanks for your help

Hello all, willi9974 when do you plan to do the next block run? I want to either join or buy some hash to mine separately at the same time at solo.ckpool to increase the chance.

Thanks. Yes, in the past several exchanges warned against doing that because their systems couldn't handle it. For instance, most exchanges require 6 confirmations before they credit your account but a coinbase transaction (indeed newly minted coins) cannot be spent until 100 confirmations. Exchanges routinely move btc from your deposit address to a cold wallet or use them to payout other users and that can't happen when the 100 confirmations aren't reached yet. It could be that exchanges have updated their systems but I would check with them first before doing so.

Thanks. Yeah i am using a "bc1..." address from the TrezorOne I have. I thought it said Segwit address when I set it up but that was quite a while ago. Now i don't see that anywhere in the dashboard of the software suite. yeah i was looking at my best share (5193413666) and comparing it to the current bitcoin network difficulty....man it's a sad sight hahaha like 2 entire digits short. I'm nowhere close! starting to wonder if i should do like one week pool mining, one week solo mining...and keep alternating. I want to be able to say this asic mined at least SOME bitcoin during it's lifetime lmfao

However, I have wallets with Exodus and Atomic which are private key based. If I ever get lucky the BTC I receive will be converted to cash fast but I am now concerned that I should be using a BTC address from my exodus wallet instead. But not sure. The "not your keys not your BTC" has always been a concern for long term storage but not for quick conversion

The "not your keys not your BTC" has always been a concern for long term storage but not for quick conversion I use the BitCoin QT wallet, I control my private keys. Sure it's an extra step to send coins to Coinbase, but at least I control the keys to my wallet.

I use the BitCoin QT wallet, I control my private keys. Sure it's an extra step to send coins to Coinbase, but at least I control the keys to my wallet. I second the opinion of using Bitcoin core. It's what I have always used and yeah it takes like 300GB on my hard drive but that's not that much so it's whatever and I control my private keys and it's all mine to manage.

Answer: "you can not and should not use your coinbase account to receive any mining rewards or block reward." So, that's out. I am running a full node so i can always use that address. Good to know that coinbase doesn't accept/allow that.
