Is this place finally dead? Should I stop posting here entirely?

We haven't gone anywhere, we're right here. 'Until the last mf'er breathes.' 😁

It's likely quieter compared to the past because people prefer asking AI, and only post on the forum if the AI fails to give them the right answer, imho.

Congratulations to miner bc1qdyqjq9qccp34pyv3kxmsrkn7p0amnsqqy8kdeq with a wildly variable - presumably rental - hashrate peaking at 100PH for solving the 317th solo block at http://solo.ckpool.org! Despite the chaos from the hardware wallet exploit, bitcoin just keeps on doing its tick-tock next block.

Code:

Congrats. Happy for you! taking a block with less than 50G total share. probably mined for less than a day with that address Sad Huh

Congrats to the recent miner.

Not dead yet CK, appreciate the updates here though I do follow you on twitter as well.

Personally, I'm just frustrated at rentals taking all the BTC or a rare super low hashrate lotto miner on occasion. I'd love to see an S17 or S19 hit a Block this week (maybe that's just me though)!

Mine on ladies and gentlemen, and best of luck to you all!

Alright, all good. It doesn't take much to post what little I have to post in here as well, it was just like a graveyard after the last 3 posts. It all started here so I'll keep posting.

Stratum V2 update on solo.ckpool.org. I've tried to minimise posting since the coldcard exploit was discovered to not affect signal to noise ratio on that issue.

It's been about a week since SV2 was deployed across all solo ckpool endpoints. SV2 has peacefully coexisted with the existing stratum V1 endpoints and no regressions have been noted. Take up has been modest with ~120 users mining SV2, heavily biased towards the EU and SG servers.

A block was solved on the pool in that period without any issues on stratum V1, confirming functionality was completely unaffected.

All the SV2 code has been merged into the master branch of ckpool as run on the pool itself https://bitbucket.org/ckolivas/ckpool/src/master/ . Some minor bugs were addressed in the code in addition to the SV2 implementation.

The ckproxy code has been updated to support upstream SV2 pools as well (including pools that support Job Declaration, if you set up a local bitcoin node with it.) If you were looking to try mining SV2 without any SV2 compatible hardware, ckproxy can act as the gateway for all your hardware.

"Red team" recently performed a security audit on the ckpool code and possible security holes were all addressed. Thanks goes to @Rob1Ham  , @callebtc , @PortlandHODL  and their team for their tireless efforts. These were deployed across all the pools without discernible downtime to miners.

As a reminder there is no burning need for miners to switch to SV2. What it offers is more privacy, security, and minor bandwidth improvements - it doesn't affect performance, hashrate, rejects etc.

In other solo ckpool news, a higher performance server was seamlessly deployed for West USA, and stratum.ckpool.org now also will redirect to IPv6 endpoints when available.

To make it easier for people to try stratum v2 by using ckproxy, I've made an installer that automates the download, build, configure, and install of ckproxy on any linux box:
Code:
wget https://api.bitbucket.org/2.0/repositories/ckolivas/ckpool/src/master/scripts/install-ckproxy.sh
chmod +x install-ckproxy.sh
sudo ./install-ckproxy.sh

This should work to any stratum v1 or v2 upstream pool, and not just solo.ckpool.org. Just point your miners to the address of the machine you install the proxy on and your chosen port.
