I've just noticed I appear twice on your list at 17 and 40 (1740 by a bizarre coincidence was the year the Marquis de Sade was born - I'd like to contribute twice but charity and Sadism are a bad mix)

Ain't that special! Now I have to go back, starting with #18 and change all the numbers. Then I have to reread this thread to see how it happened so that it never happens again. This is so embarrassing!

Also, in 1740, George Whitefield founded the Bethesda Orphanage. Are you sure you don't want to reconsider your position before I make the time-constraint adjustments?

The next post will consist of thanking the most recent pledgers and addressing posts.

Bruno

You could just leave it as it is with an addendum and call it the Bitcoin101-1

It was a simple fix of which I knew it would be but wanted to make it sound like it was a complicated task on my part. Already corrected, as you can well see in the OP. Thank you kindly, dancupid, for bringing your error to my attention.

REQUEST!

Since I haven't heard from Roger or Gavin, I need somebody that the community trusts at large to have control of a Bitcoin wallet address, at least until that position is maintain by an individual full time in the very near future. I've already stated that I will not be in charge of the funds because, quite frankly, I WILL SPEND IT ON OLD MUSTY SMELLING LUMBER. A volunteer or drafting a willing person is what I'm requesting. This may be a fine position for a woman in filling. Remember that thread on how to get woman on board? Only an obscure thought. But, come to think of it, a person in charge of making the decisions at these charitable organizations may be more prone to agree to our offer if a woman made the presentation. Hmmm!

Put me in for 1 per charitable organization max 50

Thank you, coblee, for your kind pledge. The OP has been updated reflecting your request.

He was born in a crossfire hurricane... hey Phinn!
Put me on the list, but only if I'm the 99th pledge... it's a Gretzky thing.
FF
PS. 1 coin per pledge adjustable to current market rates lol

Dittos! Done and updated.

Do you realize how hard it was to find a small image of him to post it here? Who the hell is this guy?  Wink

34. freequant (1 Per C.O. ~ No Max Stated /\/\ An additional 100 BTC pledge to the Red Cross & Unicef if/when they get on-board)
Gasp, I forgot to set the stop loss  Tongue.
Let's put the initial max at 100 BTC.

Updated, freequant.

Remember, folks, that setting a max is not required, but highly appreciated. Just by pledging 1 BTC, you'll more than done your part. Everything else will take care of itself.

Special Note: What I've found amazing is that all the pledges to date seem sincere. I believe I see no trolling or other falsehoods on this thread. That's a blessing in and of itself.

Thank you, all, for doing your part to date.

See post #123 (above): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=52543.msg630636#msg630636

The sooner, the better, for I have a unique way in mind to start funding the slush pool (for lack of a better term).

In a couple hours, I'll be heading out to Toledo, Ohio, to pick up a load of lumber. Therefore I won't be able to update this thread until I'm in a hotel room early this evening.

Post #128 addresses your concern quite eloquently. Hope you're considering to pledge.

Thank you kindly, Nicolai Larsen, for your pledge. The OP list has been updated.

We're (not I, for this is a group thingy) still 1 pledge shy of 50 total pledgers. Note that pledge number 77 and 69 (although this list number is at a premium pledge amount, requesting at least 2 BTC--anybody game?) are still available, as well as 101 and 111, or any other spot that may tickle your fancy.

Shameless bump.

All because I'm still in Ohio for another night, doesn't mean you shouldn't pledge or comment on this thread. I'm at Days Inn by the Toledo Airport if anybody wants to buy me a pizza. Better yet, I'll order my own pizza and ask if they accept Bitcoin.

Pause...

I just asked the young girl (allow me to assume she's young, but over 18) if they accept Bitcoin. She said no, but I'm the second one who's asked in the past two or so weeks. That helps make Bitcoin so frickin' promising! Now, I have to wait a hour for my pizza. I then asked her why so long and she replied that they need five confirmations before they start making it (maybe I made that last part up). I'm now picturing them hashing my pizza together, readying it for placement into the steampunk Bincoin mining rig oven. My only hope is that my pizza doesn't touch the strawberries on the conveyor belt. I've read threads about this kind of thing happening.

If you enjoyed this post, consider pledging. If nothing else, at least commit. And if you don't know what to say, allow me to assist you: Great idea, Bruno! You are so AWESOME! Remorsefully, I don't expect to see that post but, then again, stranger things happened on this forum.

Here, all the pizza taste like hash (yes, pizza is on the menu there):

I was shocked last night when my pizza was delivered. I was expecting a pizza guy, but it was a pizza girl. Cute thing. I wanted to so badly...wait for it...ask her if she was the one who took my call and answered my Bitcoin question. I would have love to talked to her all night about Bitcoin but, I guess, some things aren't meant to be. BTW, the pizza was pretty good. I have leftovers for the drive home. Nothing like cold pizza and old musty smelling wood.

Way to go, GoWest! The OP list has been updated reflecting your kind pledge.

We're officially at 50 pledges (48 + 99 & 100--see OP list for clarification), thus marking the halfway point in getting at least 100 pledgers. Now that the hard part is behind us, who else is ready to pledge? But please, folks, do me a favor. Don't everyone pledge at once, for it does take a little effort on my part updating the pledge list in the OP. That said, have it! Make my ass work!

CoinLab would like to pledge a minimum of 1BTC for the first 100 charities.  We will pass the hat around the office and we will likely donate more to charities we especially want to support.

We may choose not to donate to charities which engage in discriminatory practices or are politically controversial.

This is a wonderful project.  We look forward to joining with the rest of the Bitcoin community and making a positive impact on our communities.

Thank you, CoinLab, for your kind contribution. The OP list has been updated with your pledge and caveat(s). All will be able to opt out of donating to any charity that doesn't meet their standards, regardless what those standards may be. The fine details of how this will be accomplished shall be made available to all those who have pledged prior to asking for making good on their respective pledges.

Currently, only one more pledge is needed to have a full deck--52 pledges. I hope somebody pledges, so that I can seal the deck.

Thank you kindly, wareen, for your generous pledge.

With your pledge, we now have a full deck of 52 pledges and I can seal... Wait! Who's going to be interested in a deck of cards without a joker, bug and instruction card?

Three more pledgers are currently needed so that I can seal this deck. If you like playing cards, consider pledging to the Bitcoin100.

Bruno
