Hey guys,

a few updates:

Krill Chat Requirement - Heard back from SwC and as we already know, Krill was raised to combat trouble makers in the chat. Not so good news is that this may return to normal soon, may not. Nothing they can do individually, I guess for technical reasons.

SwC Flexfit Hats - @iv4n @Steamtyme Who else won a hat, was it just the both of you? Feels like we have been playing poker forever lol and I am getting old. Anyway, you never received a response and no hat, right?

Looks like you guys are going strong again once more, I really want to be with you guys but I am quite afraid of it unfortunately, it is a good amount of money to join to begin with, it is not free but even at free option (and that is a big IF) I wouldn't have the courage.

How do you guys feel when someone just destroys you and you get out very early? I get the people who go all in right away from the start so that they could start with more chips and have an advantage or just leave early, but I am not one of them, if I am just actually playing and doing my best and lose at the very first table, I would feel very very horrible about it hence why I couldn't get in. Kudos to winners so far, I would bet on bitmutiny to win after this, half is already over and dude is way ahead of everyone else Cheesy.

Not such a biggie. I got dumped out after 12 minutes this week. I wasn't trying any clever get rich strategy.

I have got a bit too confident and need to remember the other players hands and luck too.

Playing some games and tourneys to get krill I also got my but handed to me a bit, each time is a lesson.

I think you overplayed your ace a bit, also considering the flop was AQX, where AQ beats your AT as well and I did a 2.5BB pre-flop raise, which you then re-raised to 5BB. But tbf it's always super hard to spot a set - one of the hardest things in Poker (for me ?). On lets say a AJ3 flop, that 3 looks like a blank, but can actually mean a super strong hand for your opponent. In the end it comes down to all this again:

Let your winners run and cut your losses short they say in betting; so the advanced players have kind of mastered the art of losing few while being beat and winning a lot when things to their way.

I think even the best players are struggling to spot sets, but they are doing much better in anticipating the possible danger, be it via analyzing pre-flop raises, post-flop bet sizes, experience or pure gut feeling.
Problem is, when you concentrate too much on possible sets, you will just see them everywhere on any given flop Grin They are curse and blessing at the same time - and if I was asked to do new rules, I would eliminate them Tongue

We don't have that many participants to justify aggressive playing in the very beginning. Those who bluff a lot are usually the first to get kicked out. There are 2 or 3 such players, max, and sometimes none of them is sitting at your table. In short, if during the first hour you are not acting aggressively, you will most likely survive until only calm players left. Try it and see for yourself: if you are not an aggressive player, you will not be kicked out early, it's almost impossible considering the size of the big blinds during the first hour.

the odds of flopping a set are ~1 in 8 (set over set is ~1 in 100), and one only sees a pocket pair ~1 in 17 hands. that's the trouble. realistically, it is very rare that you can hand read your opponent on a set. and given the odds, you can't afford to fear sets on every board and fold away value.

so there's no way around it---running into sets is always gonna be painful even when you play it right IMO. when you have strong holdings on a dry board and you run into a set, you basically have to pay them off. that's how i see it anyway.

on the flip side, i love suited connectors (and one-gappers, kinda sorta) for this reason. most players will slow play a flopped set or other made monsters and will usually pay you off on a turned or rivered straight/flush.

Respect for these words, there's no way around some hands! And I agree that suited connectors are good cards for playing against sets, it's exactly how you describe it in most situations, many people will take it easy after set on flop so you can buy some straight/flush for cheap, but advanced players with set will play strong to kick you out if they see possibility for flush/straight.
In Sunday I had one hand with set of kings against set of 9's, as I remember we both got it on flop, I don't remember against whom I played that hand!

Oks, I am checking this with them - it's strange and they have already sent over some new unique redemption codes but it makes sense to first sort out why nobody has received their hat. Will give an update shortly!

You are right. Being not an advanced player, I didn't raised enough for my opponent to fold, when I flopped a set of queens

and when I realized that I should have raised, and did it, it was too late, because Steamtyme has had already rivered a straight, so he went all-in easily, and won:

Next time I get a set, I go all-in right away.

Next time I get a set, I go all-in right away.

You can't imagine how many times I said the same thing to myself for two aces, when I get them I will go in no matter what! Because I lost with two aces zillion times, because I wanted to take a bit more and to take it slowly. And it's the same for every similar situation like yours now, but.... yes there's a big "but" here! Steam was up and down for straight, and maybe he will answer us here would he pay all in for that straight, before the
king of course..
Many times I was on that "other side", where I have a chance for straight up or down, and I have suited cards and I need one more for flush... my math is clear, even I tried to buy them (and sometimes with all ins) statist says I lost more times than I won.
I say that because you have players who will try to buy it with any rise you make, even if it means all in!

Above we have a nice discussion about what to do in some hands, and what Foma and Ty said about sets can be applied on many situations in poker, probably this is the bottom line:

Let your winners run and cut your losses short they say in betting; so the advanced players have kind of mastered the art of losing few while being beat and winning a lot when things to their way.

I will be there to continue my attendance streak, don't worry. Probably gonna register tomorrow since I  am on barbecue today and don't trust myself to transfer BTC under heavy influence.

Hopefully that skrill requirement for chat got nerfed a bit.

Yeah, same here, mate, same here. And there were cases of me going all-in pre-flop with pocket Aces and losing to someone who called with like pocket sevens, or even lower then that. But still, I think it's impossible to play poker if you are afraid of losing all-in with pocket Aces. The thing is that in the vast majority of cases you are going to win. So, when to play then, if not in these cases?

400 chips sent to "youcantwin":

and the registration done. There are only 3 of us there so far. Are we going to have less than 10 players this time? Nooooo! I hope not. Smiley
