Hi!

http://sourceforge.net/p/bitcoin/mailman/message/33221963/
Read gmaxwell's post here about how the latest openssl-1.0.1k and the security "fix" for CVE-2014-8275 breaks compatibility with Bitcoin (Groestlcoin is based on Bitcoin 0.8 core branch). This effects all altcoins which are based on Bitcoin branches (0.8, 0.9 and 0.10).

Most ordinary users are unaffected.  If you use the official builds of Groestlcoin you are unaffected by this issue because we included our own copy of openssl.

Linux users who build from source (like: poolowners, block explorers) will likely have problems.  If you build from source you can run into a major problem because you dynamically link to openssl provided by your operating system.  When your OS upgrades openssl to fix CVE-2014-8275 it will break your locally built Groestlcoin client.

Patch for Groestlcoin 2.1.0.6
https://github.com/GroestlCoin/GroestlCoin/commits/master
Please note that your OS provider might not have issued the update for CVE-2014-8275 yet.

We have already asked all Linux users (like: poolowners, block explorers) to recompile from our source again. This is not a hardfork but we will be monitoring the pools for a couple of days.

So far we have 3 people who have downloaded the app on Google Play.  Hopefully more people have downloaded it from github.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hashengineering.groestlcoin.wallet
https://github.com/HashEngineering/groestlcoin-wallet/releases/tag/v0.23-beta

This latest update includes some minor fixes.

I loved this coin when I was mining.. Good revenues.. Smiley
I will try the wallet.. Although I DON'T have any more GRS .. Smiley

EDIT:
There is one big thing missing.. How do I copy the wallet address into clipboard? there is no way I can write that down on a paper and then write it again in the phone.. Smiley

The copy to clipboard function for addresses was removed from the Bitcoin Wallet (from which Groestlcoin Wallet is based) because it is considered unsafe.  In the App, go to Request Coins, then tap the button in the corner that almost looks like a triangle.  You can then share the address with many of your apps.  this is how I get the address to my computer with the regular desktop client to send coins to my phone.

The safety issue is if there is a program or service monitoring the clipboard on your phone and it notices a Bitcoin address, then it could change the address to a different one and you would copy the wrong address to your other app.

if you come to taiwan you can use GRS to:

1. stay for at least one night in 2 of my friends' hostels

2. buy a cup of coffee and surf the web with free wifi.

how?
check coinmap.org --> kaohsiung (taiwan)
go to the bitcoin places
ask if they accept GRS

Wink

Awesome! Spread the word in Taiwan!

Just some suggestions to help your coin,

increase your Wallet's POS to at least 5% or 10% so you have more people keeping their wallets open to help your network.

Currently you only have 2 Connected nodes:
http://www.multifaucet.tk/index.php?blockexplorer=GRS&network_info
Nodes list:
addnode=107.170.195.209:1331
addnode=37.187.129.122:1331

or

setup a few extra nodes to keep your network running because if you lose those 2 nodes , your network will be offline.

Good Luck.

http://www.multifaucet.tk/index.php?blockexplorer=GRS&network_info

Seems a problem with multifaucet wallet daemon, maybe they limit connections so they can host more wallet daemons on the same server?

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/grs/#!network reports 36 nodes, which is quite healthy given it's an under-estimation.

Hi fairglu,

Is there a way to see on chainz which ones are connected right at this moment?
I think that might be the reason yours shows the ones connected in a 24 hour window where the other one only shows what is connected that minute. What do you think?

Thanks.

FYI:
Love the 24hour windows on yours but I also use the other to see a per minute.
But if yours does both let me know how to check.

Not yet, I have that somewhere in the todo list along with a graph to show the evolution of connected node - hehe never running short of things on the todo list - I'll see if I can add at least the current connected count value.

At the moment there are 27 connected nodes.

 Cool

Thank you for the suggestions!

1. We are a pure PoW coin so can't do that.
2. Currently i see atleast 25 nodes in my qt wallet.
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/grs/ should have more than 20 nodes.
http://www.richlist.eu/groestlcoin/stats has 8 connected nodes.
My android wallet has 4 connected nodes.

I guess they limited the ammount of connections. So nothing to worry mate, our network will never be offline.

Increasing market cap.

Because of the historically low price of the groestlcoin some actions need to be taken. Any others with ideas?

I will buy every month for +- 10 dollar groestlcoin to guarantee a certain minimum. Are there others that want to
invest or want to take other measurements...? Some suggestions what we can do as a community? Let me know asap some actions need to be
taken to improve our price.

All altcoins are suffering from low price. Actually we like this cheap price so other can join the party.

What community can do: promote groestlcoin in your country. Spread the word (no asics, fast transaction times etc).
