Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has accused president Joan Laporta of lying about the club's ability to sign Nico Williams this summer.

A release clause of €58m (£49m) has seen Williams attract significant interest from Europe's elite this summer, with Arsenal and Chelsea joining Barcelona in pursuit of the Euro 2024 winner's signature.

Despite the club's well-known financial issues, Laporta has long insisted that Barcelona have a genuine chance of signing Williams, vowing that enough work has been done behind the scenes to raise the requires funds.

Font, however, has insisted a move for Williams has never been a true possibility.

"I wish we could sign Nico Williams as it is what we need," Font told The Athletic. "The president has said it is possible, but that is not true. Today, it cannot be done.

While I agree that PSG doesn't normally aim ligue one because they know that they can get that, and mostly aim UCL and they are looking to get that, I can say that it's clear we are going to end up with them not getting it this year, so they may consider this year as development season maybe? If they keep on rushing to get some players, they will spend way too much money way too quickly and that could lead to making mistakes, but if they take a few more seasons to adjust, then they could make sure that they have all the right players in the team for a chance to get UCL as well.

I feel like in a few seasons Peps contract will end, and he has talked about leaving City before, maybe they could try to get him since he would be a great manager for them.

PSG has lost Mbappe maybe but it isn't the end of the world. While they had him they couldn't become champions there either. As long as Luis Enrique finds out a way to make this team play more effectively, it is still possible to make it.    However I still hope to see them finding a replacement for Mbappe this summer.

Even though PSG was able to buy many potential players, but getting the Champions League trophy was not easy at all. Thus, even though PSG is bringing in a lot of young players who will certainly be good for the long term and also have a great coach, but in reality PSG will just managed to maintain its dominance in Ligue 1, but not in the Champions League. Indeed,  it is hoped that PSG will be able to become stronger in the competition in the Champions League, but in reality, with the presence of Mbappe and other great  players before, it is still difficult for PSG to get good results in the Champions League.
