Chriss at MineOnCloud reached out to say that they have added UNO to their pool, and they are looking for hash!
They will very soon active an autoswitch pool and exchanger.

[on uno.coin-pool.org being down]
I mine there as well and didn't notice. Thanks for the heads up. The UNO page does not work, but the main page coin-pool.org is still active.
Did you hear anything from them?
No, didn't hear anything back from them -- they probably haven't even seen my email yet and may not know the pool is down, it being the weekend and all. However I remembered the new "switchpool.co.uk" announced here by FK and an ensuing discussion about it, so I checked them out (I *really* didn't like the idea of not being about to mine my favorite coin LOL). Here is what I just posted in the Switchpool announcement thread here on BCT: Had been using another pool (uno.coin-pool.org), but I noticed my 2 Antminer S3's reported that pool as "Dead" -- I checked them because I hadn't received any payouts in the last several days, plus their UNO web page always seemed to give me problems -- if I left it open for some time, it would (believe it or not) bring down my whole system! Really, one web page in Chrome freezing the entire Windows 7 system *completely*Huh?? Anyway, I remember reading in the UNO thread about the http://switchpool.co.uk/ pool, remembered about the zero pool fee for UNO folks, and decided to check it out. So far, I am quite impressed. I can't believe more people aren't using this for UNO; as I type this, it looks like I'm the only UNO "worker" there (I do see where someone else was mining it for a couple of hours this morning). Wow. I also like how easy it is to set up: just your UNO address as your user name, the stratum+tcp://switchpool.co.uk:3008 URL, and any old password. No logins, registration and all that malarky. I am curious as to whether you can set up separate worker names. I've got 3 rigs: 2 Antminer S3's, and 1 "rig" consisting of 26 USB ASICs (all running under MultiMiner). Can you do something like UNOaddress_Antminer1, UNOaddress_Antminer2, and UNOaddress_USBsticks, thus having 3 workers and being able to see how each "rig" is performing for UNO? It's no big deal if you can't, the simplicity as it is is just fine with using just plain UNOaddress for each rig. I'm gonna keep a close eye on this one, and pass on the word. Thanks! Jelks

Someone got 465 uno at .0045 today at Cryptsy. Nice score. Everyone's happy to be buying in the 004's right now. Nobody feels like punching through that little wall at 005? Not yet, anyway? Uno is looking pretty the past 60 days, since the July low. View back to April shows the clear break with the long term down trend, and the start of the current uptrend.

Is now the time to talk about price independence from bitcoin? Is there any way we can do this, or work towards doing this? Like keeping uno at a static usd amount? 2 bucks a coin regardless of btc value? I guess having a UNO/Fiat pairing would really help this come to fruition. Yay, nay? Dumb idear? Just got some preview pics for the physical UNO bars, plated and pure silver :-) with the silver price at a great buying point I can't wait to show you guys!
SOOOO where are these pics?! I want to see them! Or are you just teasing us ? I have interest in a pure silver bar! What is the weight of them?

I really like the idea of us looking into solutions like this, and maybe we could find a specific one. Still, right now UNO is doing great, and I'm not worried about BTC. For one thing, I think there is some internal price evidence that we are already somewhat BTC independent, but I can't present that so well. Unobtanium is at such a great place, with low mining reward, (and ready to halve, again!) AND with great buy-and-hold patrons. I like to consider the example of my trading in the in-house exchange. We are die-hards in here - nobody is selling~! Mostly all buyers, and periodic (dollar-cost-averaging) at that!!! This is all very bullish, plus UNO's stability, and it's oversold, etc. I don't think we even need to worry about the $USD cost. Wow, right now, what a great time to convert your $USD to UNO - occasional price breaks are super opportunities!

Been busy at cryptsy... How nice it is to buy UNO for $1.80 a piece. Even better deal than .0035 @ $600 bitcoin ($2.10) volume is looking good and I have more btc coming in on Tuesday... Things are about to get very, very interesting with UNO.

Is there any chance that BW's new exchange would allow for direct fiat to UNO purchases?
Or, should we solicit such an item from a small exchange like coinbroker.io?
Both scenarios are mutually beneficial to the parties...

there's a lot of regulatory hoops an exchange would have to jump through to make it happen. Plus, getting USD in and out of exchanges is a royal pain in the ass. I remember some months back there was an exchange trying to gauge interest in a UNO/USD market....but they were a russian exchange I had never heard of. you gonna mail a check off to russia and expect they'll do business with you straight? I think you've got just as good of a chance of finally meeting your nigerian prince for a date. but even still, I've been around the cryptocurrency space for almost 3 years now and I still don't know if you can actually fund a btc-e account with usd. Its just so much easier to buy some btc with your coinbase account and immediately send it over to buy your UNO. I think we are already seeing quite clearly that the value of UNO is more closely tied to the value of USD than it is to BTC....bitcoin just happens to be the easiest medium. and really, i don't know about you guys, but I don't actually plan to "sell" my stash of Unobtanium for government funny money...like ever, really, unless it is absolutely necessary. And if the value UNO got to the point where my current stash was considered a fortune, I imagine some sort of UNO/USD market would pop up just because it would be an opportunity for some exchange to make money. This imagememe kinda sums up my attitude towards unobtanium: basically, I'm just saying that I don't think its worth fighting for at this point in the game

I understand. I know that on BTC-e, one could wire money to OKPay and then move it very easily back and forth to BTC-e. That was until FACTA kicked in and OKPay quit doing business with anyone with a US address...

@ Sirsmokes: now is the time to make The Big Push for price-independence. IndiaMikeZulu has ideas out the wazoo about this, though we do need to tackle some relevant theory, and be unconcerned to publicly discuss Some Stuff That Other Coins Are Doing. (Noted one yesterday -- ask me.)
@ vector.iso: 3 years!! We should publish some 'interviews' for our first birthday, as a first step in the consultancy thing (price-independence: 'community itself as asset') For example, we could set up a Q and A in a few spots (I like the cryptocurrency section at Reddit Doge). There is a great deal of talent-per-square-inch here.

Yeah, I think there's a good chance. AltExchange & BW have been working on it, but having difficulty finding willing banks. BW has tweeted his thoughts on that already. But in the long run, I believe you'll be able to move fiat into Altmarket and then exchange directly for Uno.

@awards: great work benefactor!
@btc-e and price indepandance: btc-e have other options too. Did you try perfect money? That stuff is additional risk of course since you have another middleman who could run with the money.
But it is true. Uno would need a good fiat-exchange to become really independant - and a higher marketcap would also help. I think it could be achieved down the road. Currently Uno turned out to be very well pegged to 2 USD for a long time. A great start.
Had another thought. What happens when bitcoin foundation messes things up? What if they would ever betray the community because they were corrupted by big money? What if they would decide next year to remove the hard cap of 21million and replace it with 4% inflation? Where would people go? I think it is another thing going for uno that there is no such foundation that could become currupted. If the btc-foundation would ever fail in a big way, people could switch to Uno. Let's also keep in mind: what if bitcoin-foundation delivers a major blow? Uno would be there for people to go to. We don't have a foundation and i don't think we need one with hard assigned possitions. It's good to have no hirarchy in place and no closed door politics. I think it's a good thing to have all the important things discussed in public. It is also consistent in the spirit of decentralization and open source. I could not think of a situation ever where closed door politcs would be an advantage. They are really just an disadvantage undermining trust and open things up to corruption. So Uno could/should really be a coin that sticks to its initial vision and doesn't become corrupt easily. A great thing going for it. The 250k max coins is an important point of uno. So along that line of thought of the possibility of a corrupt or failing btc-foundation, uno suddenly really becomes a hedge for a fail of bitcoin. Just a play of thoughts. Not saying btc-foundation will fail, but it is a possible scenario that should be allowed to think about.
So as things stand: Price independance from bitcoin is a thing uno could truely establish. Would be a great thing to see that happen. No obstacles in the way. Just needs a little more adoption, a little higher cap and solid fiat exchange or two. Nothing too outlandish. So far it is doing quite well.
