Another week without F1 and also for me without football clubs.

I have a question for all of you, after this little break and with the majority of position settled, if you are a team principal what you do? You start to prove 2023 piece or you keep upgrading the 2022 car?

Because i think we can see some upgrades thinking more in 2023 than the 2022 car in the next races, RB can try a lot of things with the gap their have against the other teams.

Another week without F1 and also for me without football clubs.
Same feels.  Sad

I have a question for all of you, after this little break and with the majority of position settled, if you are a team principal what you do? You start to prove 2023 piece or you keep upgrading the 2022 car?
I'm not an expert on here but if I were to be a team principal, I would focus on 2023 now because that's where I could make the most impact instead of this year, 2022 since it's not gonna make any dent or significant changes for sure. I would make sure that I could carry over the progress that I have for 2022 to 2023.

Because i think we can see some upgrades thinking more in 2023 than the 2022 car in the next races, RB can try a lot of things with the gap their have against the other teams.
Red Bull has a lot of freedom in terms of experimenting and if they keep on winning, that means they are doing the right things. Shocked

Stefano Domenicali has announced that the Monaco GP is going to be with us until 2025 after a new agreement.

Honestly the Monaco GP is the most boring race in the calendar in my opinion. Because it is very difficult to overtake any car on this track. Just because of that teams are caring about qualifying session even more than the race. Pit strategies are another thing they must care about the most. If you remember Ferrari made a huge mistake about their pit call and Leclerc's race turned to a nightmare for him.

Even though the calendar of next season has been determined we might still see some changes after it starts. I'd love to see some long-awaited tracks also back in the calendar instead of watching multiple races in the same country.

I think that's more than power units there, it may be full brand, like Alpine/Renault is, handling both chassis and power unit.
What I find very interesting is the double branding / competition between sister companies: around 2026 also Porsche will come into F1 (taking over RBR?), but... both Porsche and Audi are sisters under Volkswagen Group Cheesy

It's always about money, in a way or another.
* F1 is advertising/visibility and a brand like Porsche kinda must be there
* F1 means they can do a lot of innovation / development that subsidized by FIA

I really hope for 2023 one more team to catch the 3 top teams of the last ten years.

I hope McLaren can be one of those and come back to be a good F1 team like his history say.

I know its really difficult and all the year we see they are aproaching but never finally catch the train.

The other teams..... Alpine i dont know how having a big one company behind (renault) cant make improvements. Aston Martin i dont want to waste words on this one.

I think it is very good news for F1 fans to know that F1 is growing in popularity at a rapid pace. Taking into account the decision made by the Motorsport Council, we can conclude that F1 has grown a great deal over the past few years. It is much more exciting for me to see more stages because there will be more racing action, which translates into more excitement for me. Anyone who knows about formula would know that these long breaks would mean that anything could happen next race. Teams probably already stopped caring about this year and started their research on next year's car because it's obvious where who will finish, but there are a few teams trying to gain some positions in the middle pack and I am guessing something shocking could happen there, if everyone is looking at next year's car and someone makes a good improvement on this year's car, the difference will show itself.

I guess Mclaren could be that team, they got amazing sponsorships and money this year and failed to provide, that's why I am not sure if they will look at next year yet.

McLaren have been one of the most disappointing teams so far. I would have expected them to benefit from Mercedes' problematic times but it turned out that they were also in trouble. They couldn't develop their car enough and they became even less competitive compared to the previous season. Ricciardo's performance has been making things even worse for them. They are still behind Alpine in the standings now.

However I also think McLaren will be returning much stronger than this next season. They must have been working on the upgrades of next season these days as this season has finished for them already. They can only try to leave Alpine behind at least but even this will be hard for them. Ocon - Alonso duo is more reliable than Norris - Ricciardo now. For next season I'm hopeful about Piastri too. If he makes a solid duo with Norris they can collect many more points as a team.

Do not you think the season is too long? One may say it is only 9 months, but I think November is too much. It is almost as long as WRC (end of Jan - middle of Nov), where part of difficulty is to drive during very different weather and on different kinds of surface. In F1 the end we have all the same tracks, sometimes night race, sometimes rain. I would like to see the season more “condensed”.

It's over one week without a race and already missed them, based on the statistical comparison between F1 & MotoGP. We have more viewer rather than MotoGP, IMO 22 race every season is not really long.

If we have less race, then a chance can make a comeback fight for some driver is really hard. A team/driver who can gain more points by winning streak is getting advatange.

Do not you think the season is too long? One may say it is only 9 months, but I think November is too much. It is almost as long as WRC (end of Jan - middle of Nov), where part of difficulty is to drive during very different weather and on different kinds of surface. In F1 the end we have all the same tracks, sometimes night race, sometimes rain. I would like to see the season more “condensed”.

If you are talking about that the races should be added into the calendar like every week or so then I don't think that's a good idea.

Because this will increase the load of teams too much. They won't have much time to gather themselves up and focus on next race week because they will have a very tight schedule. Only the summer break still wouldn't be enough for them to adapt to this tempo. We all would like to see races every week to be honest but it would be really selfish to ask for this from teams. I think the current formula is much better for spectators as well. Because we are enjoying the season for many months and it leaves good memories in our minds. Otherwise the season would end so quick that there wouldn't be even much time to assess the races.

I really understand that point of view. Personally (probably I am wrong) I compare that situation to other sports, like cycling. Then, for example, you have spring full of one-day races. Eveyrbody knows about the 3 big Tours (Italy, France, Spain), but there are others, many many races. And in fact cyclists very often do not train (a lot) in the meantime - winter is a period for preparations, then having many races only give time for rest - and next weekend there is another race. But it is tru that comparison like that is wrong - many cyclist prepare themself for one specific period in year and it would be strange to hear from F1 team "we focus on races in Asia".

My statement was because it is getting cold, autumn is coming and for me it is somehoe the end of season. October, November - I cannot focus on that. Races on 20th of November - in my personal opinion it is very very late.

The next stage in early October will be in Singapore. 

To be honest, I don't really like the races that are held in urban areas.  I think that racing in large spaces looks much cooler.  There are more speeds and a feeling of freedom from high-speed driving to a much greater extent than racing on city tracks. 
By the way, if we talk about the track in Marina Bay, neither Verstappen nor Red Bull have ever won on it in its history.  I wonder if Max's winning streak will be interrupted?  Moreover, he has been on the podium as a winner for 5 stages in a row???

However I also think McLaren will be returning much stronger than this next season. They must have been working on the upgrades of next season these days as this season has finished for them already. They can only try to leave Alpine behind at least but even this will be hard for them. Ocon - Alonso duo is more reliable than Norris - Ricciardo now. For next season I'm hopeful about Piastri too. If he makes a solid duo with Norris they can collect many more points as a team.

Somehow everybody seems to expect miracles from Piastri. Even Horner is talking about him, although I think that Checo has done a more than decent job there and even the slightest thought on replacing him would be unfair (and probably a mistake).
McLaren cars were problematic this year. Actually all Mercedes cars had a weak start of the year. Even Norris did bad. Ricci just couldn't adapt to the car, I don't know, but he was not the main problem there.
Luckily the Mercs seem to recover good and there's a good chance next year will be better. But if McLaren or Mercedes make another mistake in the setup and the next year will be bad again, even Piastri won't be able to make miracles.

Don't misunderstand me, I would love to see real competition. But it's, by far, not only about the drivers there.

I have a question for all of you, after this little break and with the majority of position settled, if you are a team principal what you do? You start to prove 2023 piece or you keep upgrading the 2022 car?
I'm not an expert on here but if I were to be a team principal, I would focus on 2023 now because that's where I could make the most impact instead of this year, 2022 since it's not gonna make any dent or significant changes for sure. I would make sure that I could carry over the progress that I have for 2022 to 2023.

Yeah, I know mathematically the season's not determined yet but realistically, it's like trying to catch City with 10 games left to go and hoping they lose half of them (sorry for the football analogy).

I'd definitely focus on 2023, and send a B team of engineers to continue work on 2022 and prove to me it's worth salvaging, perhaps even to take over in the new season.

Christian Horner stated that he hoped to see Ricciardo reaching an agreement with Alpine for next season. Because he believes that Ricciardo is still one of the best drivers on the grid now.

I can agree with this point of view definitely. I also think that Ricciardo is still a great driver despite this poor season. Maybe this season might be like this because of some in-team problem. I see Norris and Ricciardo having some problems between each other sometimes. Maybe these things are affecting Ricciardo bad mentally and we see its reflection on his performance. Concentration is the key factor in Formula 1. If you let some other problems occupying your head it would cause a significant drop in your performance. I hope Ricciardo can make a better comeback in 2023 season.

I'm not a fan of "Schumacher"

However, want to see him with a better team & engine. Ocon is recommended him for "Alpine", I know Ricciardo is a former Alpine driver but look the points between these 2 drivers. Schumacher on Hass only has 7 points against Ricciardo, It's better to invest on a young driver and give Schumacher one more chance since he has 2 good race results.

I'm hoping to see Schumacer taken "Alpine" seat and give him one last chance.
