Perez is no longer happy. It was visible when he was on the podium. It's always possible that Redbull will be P1 P2... but that P1 will never be Perez's unless it's a mishap, fine, or malfunction. Unfortunately, Perez's fate is similar to Bottas, Webber and Barichello's fate. If you become a teammate with a great talent, you have to accept to be the 2nd finish. I don't think he is a pilot who will ever be the 1st pilot of a top team. There are 2 things that pilots like Sainz, perez and bottas can do; 1- Being the 1st pilot of the middle rank teams and making surprise podiums 2- Being in the first 3 teams and being the 2nd pilot I think the first one is better than the other.
If they continue with this form and car, it will be a similar situation to Vettel in 2011-2013 and Hamilton in 2020. One domination ends another one begins. What an amazing sport.
I think that this will never change in F1. Because teams are always investing in their main drivers more than the second one. Honestly I don't fully believe that Perez and Verstappen have the exact same cars now. Verstappen must always have been given a little advantage over his teammate to fight harder. As long as there are big talents like Verstappen, Leclerc etc., it is too hard for the other drivers to be cared as much as them. Maybe the constructors' championship is the main goal for the teams but it is very important for them to make their most talented driver champion also. Perez must be still happier after taking the second spot from Leclerc in the standings as he stated the same thing recently also. But of course he is a very competitive driver and he would also like to be allowed to compete with Verstappen. But he can't disobey team calls I'm afraid if he wants to be permanent here. By the way, Rosberg can be one of the most stubborn drivers about this. The 2016 season is still unforgettable for me as Rosberg has been the most serious rival for Hamilton among his teammates so far.

Haas will probably not renew Mick, which means his future is unknown, but Danny may go to Haas by the looks of it. Magnussen and Dany together could actually make a great duo for them, looking at how they are not at the bottom of the list anymore, I can say that it would be quite good for them.
I would suggest Williams to get Mick, they have Albon and Latifi and I get that Latifi is very rich and he provides a good sum of money from the sponsorships just like Haas got it until this year from Nikita Mazepin. But at this point they are so bad that it is obvious money is not the real issue, so maybe getting Mick and Albon together could help them a bit, or at the very worst case they would get a racer who won something in other formulas before.

First race of practice begins in about an hour from now and is gaining popularity just to watch these runs of the teams and the drivers due to it being televised live from where I am. Usually they only show the qualifying and the race on my cable network. It is going to be a sea of orange in the Netherlands all weekend long.

Verstappen did only 7 laps and had gearbox broken, so I guess there was a big disappointment to see him just for 10 minutes. Second practice starts in 20 minutes, I hope this time it will go much better. Regarding the discussion about primary & secondary drivers - do you think Hamilton is still driver no 1? Do they have "the same" cars?

Mick Schumacher is leaving Ferrari Driver Academy at the end of this season. His connection with Ferrari is officially ending and it is sad to see a Schumacher doing this of course. However Mick's performance at Haas hasn't met the expectations so far. He made simple mistakes and had expensive crashes for his team. Haas are thinking of replacing him with a decent driver who can be Ricciardo as @FanEagle also mentioned. However I'd like to watch a driver like Ricciardo working for more competitive teams. This move would block the way for him to return to his old days. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formula-1/mick-schumacher-ferrari-haas-f1-27877865?utm_source=linkCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar
FP1 has ended and seeing Mercedes drivers at the top made me feel interesting. In the recent times, Mercedes started to be able to compete with Ferrari at the same level. We saw Russell being faster than Leclerc and Sainz in the previous race. This is really alarming for Ferrari already now. It is early to talk about this race yet. But if we see Mercedes this powerful until the race then they might be ahead of Ferrari with both drivers this time.

He's better than most of the top drivers on the grind, he's still developing and has a higher ceiling with him just around 24 - 25 years old..? If you think Hamilton is a generational talent, you gotta watch Verstappen. He's going to be like the Messi of F1. We haven't really seen what he's capable of. He could break records that Vettel made with Red Bull... Exciting times for F1.

Yes, but do not you think that Russel will become Mercedes number 1 very soon? He suffered a lot in Williams (even if (probably) he had better car that Kubica), and now it is his time to show what he can? And he does the great job, driving very well in each race. There is still an experience he needs to have, but it is just a matter of time.

Knock-knock
Super Max is out because the gear box problem, are they gonna change the gear box and started the grid from the back? Good chance for Charles to take Podium on Super Max - Orange Army Home ~XD Let's go Ferarri, is a good chance for us.
IMO, they're gonna to change it and take the penalty.

The only thing Hamilton lacks now is a fast car, nothing more than that. If he is given a car that is nearly as fast as Red Bull's then he would again be one of the number one contenders for the championship. His ambition for winning his eight championship is still alive even though the team are a big disappointment this year. Hamilton still has one more year left on his contract. I don't think Hamilton would decide to retire easily before breaking the title record. Verstappen has a huge potential to break all the records in time indeed. He is still 24 years old and he has long years ahead of him to break the championship record especially. After his first championship he was like he reached his goal and it was going to be for fun for him from now on. However his current determination is telling the opposite. He is hungry for many more titles. I wouldn't like to see him becoming the second Raikkonen honestly.

I mean he is 24 points ahead of Hamilton right now, and even if somehow Hamilton passes Russel, dude has been world champion 7 times before, and he would be "passing" Russell in the second stage of the season, that sounds more like a situation where you would have to give Russell the credit for being number one at this point. I know it sounds weird to call him number one on his first year, but we all know Hamilton can't be a winner forever, he will retire, so why not give the power to Russell right now so that eh could get better right away, instead of losing time with Hamilton?

Who here's given up on Ferrari? Or rather, Leclerc anyway? Put in almost mindless picks last night for the weekend, home favourite will surely pull out all the stops here so put him as my pick for Pole and Winner -- but did relent and give fastest lap to Sainz (so I already have a shitty start heh).
Sort of agree with Russell, Hamilton looks jaded and out of sorts as soon as he no longer has the cushion confidence he had all his years.

I had put Leclerc out of this race but from the looks of it he will finish third with one lap left to go. Verstappen is on fire and will win in his home country.

It was another disastrous day for Ferrari.
What was that with Sainz's pits, man? First they forgot about one tyre and after that there was an unsafe release resulted in a 5-sec penalty. I really don't know what this team want from their drivers. How can you make this easy mistakes throughout the season? Binotto needs to change his crew completely after this season ends. Neither Ferrari nor a Ferrari driver can become champions in the future otherwise.
It was another great day for Mercedes. Russell had a great race by finishing in 2nd place. He is still the most consistent driver on the grid also. Hamilton could have been on podium also but the team made a big mistake with the tyres in pit. Leclerc couldn't even keep up with Russell in the last laps. Mercedes are really getting ahead of Ferrari slowly these days.

When is it not a terrible day for Ferrari. First of all, we are used to them not being good when it comes to strategy or pit stops and so forth, but this time they literally had a tire wheel guns laying around and Perez went over it. What people do not realize is that, nothing happened and it was all fine, but that could have been as serious as deadly, what if the tire just shot the wheel gun back to Ferrari pit and hit someone in the head? Can anyone guarantee that it wouldn't happen? Of course not. Ferrari needs to do something about their staff, they have a horrible horrible team, a good car and good drivers but a horrible team, it is unreal.

So that's what happened to Sainz in the pits. I was wondering why he was losing spots during the last quarter of the race. I was watching in and out between this and an EPL game that was on so missed this mishap with him. And knew he wasn't going to finish in the top 3 since they did mention about his 5-sec penalty after release. Very bad performance on Ferrari yet again with it coming down to their mechanics and staff. It being those telling them to pit last time that cost them the race. @RealMalatesta Didn't know or hear about a piece of equipment (tire wheel gun) left on the ground and Perez running over it. Wonder if there was a good shot of this posted up on youtube. Because I would like to see that and if it did infact fly up or indangered anybody around. That should be a penalty to the team whose fault it was leaving that lying around in the way of the cars.

Yeah, don't blame the others for muttering about conspiracies and what not, I honestly thought the race had gone out of my hands in early practice and then to see that actually he didn't pay any consequence? And Tsunoda, yeah, he was my pre-season pick to punch high but he's really, really underperformed and Tauri didn't have to ruin the race for everyone else man.

Max Verstappen and Red Bull are really the best driver and the best team on the grid right now. So yeah, it's def really hard to bet against them this season. I mean if we're being honest with ourselves, who could come close against Red Bull? Ferrari? Lol, not with that team. Mercedes? Not with that car. And did we forget about the race when Verstappen started at P10 or something and still won?

And did we forget about the race when Verstappen started at P10 or something and still won?
P14 (!) Sort of agree with Russell, Hamilton looks jaded and out of sorts as soon as he no longer has the cushion confidence he had all his years.
Mercedes strategy was pretty bad. But while Russell was smart enough to get advantage of the pit lane situation, Hamilton wasn't. Ferrari
I simply don't understand what is Ferrari doing. They are constantly sabotaging themselves. Completely unprofessional. Hard to bet against Verstappen
Yeah. I said I'll bet on him and I (sadly) didn't because was travelling again in the weekend. I've missed all the practice, qualifying and race too. I've just seen today a rerun of the race. The race was interesting, especially the last 1/3 of it.
Does anybody know the backgrounds of the incident when Vettel ignored blue flags and didn't let Hamilton pass? Any official excuse, or was it meant as a "farewell salute"?

Didn't know or hear about a piece of equipment (tire wheel gun) left on the ground and Perez running over it. Wonder if there was a good shot of this posted up on youtube. Because I would like to see that and if it did infact fly up or indangered anybody around. That should be a penalty to the team whose fault it was leaving that lying around in the way of the cars.
You can find Perez's incident by this link: https://youtu.be/Fw0-51X0t8I?t=90It was also really dangerous for everyone. Perez's tyre would have blown out and his race would have turned into a nightmare first of all. Or someone would have got hurt also of course. I really don't understand how Ferrari can be this much preoccupied in the race. They aren't hurting only themselves. They are dangerous for others also. I'm pretty sure that we will see so many people getting sacked before the next season. I hope there won't be another fiasco after new people come to the team. They need a very skilled group of people like Red Bull have. I haven't seen Red Bull making big mistakes for a long time. Their pits are still flawless for example.
