If you accumulate top alt-coins back then you would have gain so much profit right now.
Indeed the effort of holding a crypto would be wasted if you don't know what to hold.
You shouldn't just hold them but also know if they are worth it not all of crypto would bloom so better be careful what you would hold.

Yeah, very true @poster, one thing is that people should be specific when they tell you to hold coins long term for future profit cus we all know that not every coin or project will succeed, and we that are still very small traders tend to have the natural urge to ignore major coins which we have the mindset that they are already too expensive to buy, we go for the cheaper less popular ones with the hope that by the time they become known like the major coins, we will be in a very huge profit, but then, somehow, it sometimes ends in disappointment as not all of this coins go the way we predict they would go, some fall out on the way and projects gets abandoned, some are just too slow and takes years upon years to get noticed by a small number of people.

See, lately i have experience similar situation but in my case i sold too quickly and now i am in great regret for selling too early, in fact, between the span of January to mid March, 3 of the project i hodl rise so high in price which made me to be a bit sad, kicking myself for not selling too early,
i should already know those project will do well, it was just a matter of time and patience but instead i did the opposite
sometimes you feel you got it figure out and suddenly things will take a different turn and left you hanging.

Shitcoins are to be sold in the altseason, and quality projects are holdable for the longer period

Good for you mate that you are holding coins way back 2018. On my part I holding since 2017 but I'm lucky enough that year as I already been rewarded tokens but I just converted it to fiats as I really needed money. Thus, much better to hold some coins as a coins which is very popular in which can be benefit a great profit in the future and I hope I can hold some coins by having extra money to buy.

If you did all you can regarding your altcoins, you don't need to worry about it too much since you did all your best to choose those coins to hold from back then. It's just how it goes and the least you can do about it is move on with your life. there's something that you need to know about those altcoins and their usage if you missed that fundamental information, you will miss the best coins to hold that year. right now all you can do is learn from your old mistake and do the necessary things if you want to hold some altcoins again.

It's a good lesson learned here mate, you are been advised by those who can't even tell the difference between shitcoins and real crypto projects, do your own research and learn a little from others, some don't even know what they are doing so they try dragging others along, coinmarketcap rated coins based on volume and liquidity, that shows which crypto coin is well adopted, I'd say start from there

I believe that HOLD is still the preferred form for maximum profit.

it must be applicable for the coins that have a bright future but when you are holding the garbage coins and hold is not a good decision that you can take it. I see someone already made a thread that said if he was holding some legit coins and shitcoins. he was trying to compare the performance that created by both and then shitcoin will always become shitcoin.

Holding was never an easy task, time may come where you end up getting tempted on selling your holdings cause you are seeing that the value is getting better but the thought that in the near future, it has a potential to go even higher stops you. You should really pay much attention on holding popular coins cause you might end up wasting your time on those unpopular ones since some of them might end up being a dead coin or keep on going down with no hopes of rising up. Be smart and wise always upon deciding on what to do with your holdings or else you might miss the chance of getting high profits.

most of ICO and coins launched during ICO mania have been just... a waste of time after 3 years.
plus most of these bounties can't be accessible since you will spend much much more just for making a transaction (we need ETH 2.0 to see another pump....)

I made an experiment taking in account some "suggested coins" from this topic

At December 2017, it means after 3 years, I get following results:
13,18% Reported a positive evaluation.
10.83% Reported a 0 (total loss)

I personally do not like to hold coins or tokens long term. I don't think it's right to hold tokens for more than 3-6 months. Because if you hold a token long term, most tokens no longer have value. None of the tokens I've held so far have gone up, but gone down.

really annoying when things happened against you, thinking that you fully handled the situation and you arecorrect with your decisions, but in reality, you just missed things out. What you think is best backfire against you, don't have any other choice but just to regret everything and keep blaming yourself inside thinking that there's a much better outcome if you only wait for a little bit longer.

Just the same, nothing you can do now treat things positively and learn from it to avoid making the same mistake over and over.

Just because you have seen that other people had gained too much on their altcoin portfolio doesnt mean that you would be earning the same if you do held some alts.
It will be varying on what coins you've been holding and this is where personal selection would really be different to each other since not all people would
have the same view or perception into those projects that they do encounter on.It just turns out that other peoples selection is a good one compared to yours
and thats why they do make out some nasty profits on just simply holding because of that.So i can say that it is a bit needing some mix of luck
into these kind of circumstances.

That is a great problem in this market, people see that other people got lucky when they invested in altcoins and they try to replicate the success of those investors not understanding that you cannot replicate luck at all no matter what strategy you use, I have no problems admitting that investing in certain altcoins over the years could have produced better profits than what we see in bitcoin.

But the biggest difference is that the results in bitcoin are predictable, we can tell that it's price is going to go up during the next years and decades, you do not need a crystal ball for it but when it comes to the market of altcoins you actually need it and unfortunately no one has it.

Most of these coins has a good prospects at the initial stage which prompted many investors to buy them and hodl however the developers might have later abandoned it thus turning them into shit coins, I will rather blamed the developers for the lack of progress of the project.
Many hunters or investors has one or more of these shitcoins in their wallet afer-all its not big deal it is an investment that goes wrong having took a risk of course some thses coin also pump 10x or more on many occasions..

Well, it depends on the type of coins you hold. if you hold eth since 2018 and accumulate it until now, the profits you can get can be huge. however, sometimes people say and have such experiences for holding the wrong coins.

Yes, we don't know which token gonna peak by the next minute. Until there is no emergency requirement, never go for selling of tokens. Most of the users who accumulated good volume of tokens during the year 2018 were now making profit out of it. Same time there are users who are feeling for the mistake of selling earlier. Myself one amongst, and today if you see WRX the growth has peaked. Almost a month back if we've invested $250 today it was above $10000. However everything needs luck, without luck money making on crypto is a gamble.

Holding needs a lot of patience and trust having those things makes the efforts of holding not wasted. It is good to hold though it needs long time or year until achieving it's goal but surely you can gain high profit in it.  I am one of those who regret much after selling my token because now the value shows huge improvement but past is past which is no need to discuss.What important is our decision today, better hold, I'm sure you will not regret it. Just make sure also that you keep your eye on it to know everything about the token you're holding.

Well, in general, we can agree with your opinion. Long-term retention of cryptocurrencies, especially tokens, is not always profitable over time. I also have many different tokens in my wallets since 2017 and only a few with
of them are now waking up, but they do not bring any significant profit. That is, at that time there was no point in keeping them. However, the situation on the cryptocurrency market has changed over the years. This opinion may no longer work in the current market today. It also depends on the coins or tokens you hold, try if you hold tokens like ETH, BNB and LTC, surely the average of them all rose this year, and also coins like Bitcoin which have twice reached new ATH this year, so not all coins or tokens are bad to hold for 3-6 months, except for shitcoin whose value will never exist.

It is safer if we hold top altcoins than new or unknown altcoins indeed, they are already have huge demands on the market.
But hey, current top coins were not top coin when they launched in the beginning.
So, there is always a chance for the new coin to become top coin in the future. It is up to us, whether we want to take the risk to hold it or not.
