Volatile is normal in crypto space because it's how demand and supply works without any central entity control it, IMO what you really want to say is pump and dump scheme. It's a manipulation from the developer or a whale of most new altcoins, because it's less holder than other top coins.

Of course the right answer is Bitcoin, you'll not see any developer or people spam shilling about Bitcoin. And it's a very good coin for long term holding, not like those centralized coin.

Six months and more is not really a long-term hodling. Long-term holding means at least 2-3 years. In the past, it has also been shown that this is the time period with which one has virtually never made a loss with the vast majority of projects. Even if you bought coins at the peak in December 2017 and then had a price loss of over 90% with many projects, you would have a big profit, had you held until today.

You look like to have good experience already. If you know that some projects are volatile, then you can sell off at the highs and wait to fill up again because in essence that is what the purpose is, selling and buying, deep and bull.

If 6 months is okay for you hodling for profit then you don't need to worry about the trust worthiness of the projects , just go for the kill. But usually 6 months is still a small time to expect a valuable project to make profit. Example for Ethereum has stayed longer time below $300 before it started making alot of gains. So also many other altcoins have stayed longer time before profiting now. The proper thing to do is to buy at a right time, buying at deep is better to buy in bulk. Bitcoin, Ethereum, BnB have been a good project.

I have personally set my definition for long term as more than 5 years. The coins I have hold for long terms will stay in there for more than 5 years at the least.
The rest I might use them for short term swing trading or trading based on the trend.

If would consider ETH, SOL and BTC to be my long term bets.
BNB, SOL, DOT, MATIC and KSM would be my short term bets.

Yes, make the investment with a certain time interval as the prices change. Secondly, be careful with the projects you choose, as we do not know how the situation will continue. Check less risky projects such as top projects because the new ones are weaker and they will make you lose more in the bloody days. Finally, I recommend choose top coins those survived in the bad days and still lives.

I don't know why you still don't know this, but I think just by reading a bit, you will realize that most of the coins in this industry are very volatile if not all, since probably the entirety of the altcoins in this industry moves with the price of bitcoin. So I don't think you will find a coin in this industry that is not volatile. My advice though for beginners like you is to start small on well established coins and gradually increase capital as you get the hang of things here. And when you manage to get enough confidence in your investing ways, you can start investing on start ups that have great potential because coins thata are still starting up can deliver quite a lot of profits for early investors. The only downside is that you have to pick wisely since most of start ups are scams or have veey low chance of succeeding. Good luck.

I'm not one of the top researchers, but you can't finish your research if you follow all one suggestion. You can research everyone's common suggestion. Vechain, Harmony, DIA, Cartesi those altcoins I have, but maybe I will change to WAN, QKC, AION and TT. Still, I don't have a huge portfolio to invest in. That's why I made the decision. Number one in the list is the etherium, as for me it is the best investment in altcoin for a long term, now that its value is going high. You can visit coinmarketcap for you to find the best investments in altcoins for a long term. Number one in the list is the etherium, as for me it is the best investment in altcoin for a long term, now that its value is going high. I have a little amount of etherium in my wallet and patiently waiting for me to gain profits from it.

The ranked tokens are usually the ones that perform well especially the ones with updates all the time with so many users shilling for it like ADA.
ETH is going to be the most reliable altcoin so far for holding more than 6 months. There are lots that are reliable but they are not rank high because of the low marketcap, they are the ones they call GEM because it has a low max supply and has a good team.

I would take all of this information given to you with a very large grain of salt.  Just remember than many in here are going to tell you what they're favorite coins are, i.e. which coins they are invested in and want to go up in value.  In my humble opinion there aren't a lot of great altcoin projects that have a long term outlook of success but the altcoins I value the most are Ethereum, Monero, Litecoin and a few others.

First, you have to tell why you have an interest in investing now, even when you mentioned the time. Actually, I don't need to mention any names, all of them prices are very low. But I won't reveal any names for a short term, for a long time you can choose "Harmony" projects then Cartesi. Those coins' prices were very low when I bought them. I was going to say Bitcoin, but then you said it’s going to be six months. If you’re planning to make double your investment, I don’t think that is going to happen with bitcoin in six months time. So maybe an altcoin, but I wouldn’t say Ethereum either.

Maybe coins like Cardano, Polygon, Polkadot and Binance coin will be a good choice to go with. But if you invest in Bitcoin with a plan to hold it for more than a year I believe you’re going to make good profit. It is personal preference, check social media accounts of gem hunters to find the best possible ROI gem altcoins. I would say ETH, DOT and BNB are the top 3 which one can hold without being too worried about a crash. Binance recently has been criticized for its decisions and even involvement in the recent crash that happened. If I am not wrong they were even questioned by the SEC regarding some of these allegations.

But I feel like Binance will come out without a spot on their reputation and let's be honest, there is no exchange right now in the market that even comes close to binance. well, it never hurts to ask for advice from others for consideration. if the coin selection is the same then it can be a reinforcement, otherwise it can be ignored. we need to be open to all opinions, the pros and cons are always there, at least we don't miss a potential project. however, we still have to make the final decision based on the analysis and risk management that we are able to do.

I think if you want to invest or trade altcoins in the long term you better buy the top 10 altcoins on coinmarketcap. And to be honest holding altcoins for a longer period can end up in losses.
Therefore it is always advisable not to hold a coin for long term, whose marketcap is small.

for long term project personally i am in into project that still in developtment progress and token price still very cheap. with running progress i am believe it could attract organic demand and growth . honestly it take big risk if we we make mistake choosing this project , but i am thinking risk will equal with our profits potency as long as we do proper research.

I think if you are a new player in the crypto world you should
buy coins that have good fundamentals. I think this coin is worth holding for more than 6 months.
binance (BNB) is a coin that has its own smart contract.
many altcoin projects are on the bep20 binance network. they also have their own exchange
and has many different features not only as a place to buy and sell. I think this is good to save for investment.
Likewise Cardano (there are) have a good project, and soon they will build their own network, with cardano smart contracts
alice is also a good token, with the hype of this game in the crypto world bringing a good effect to alice. especially the alice game will be released on steam this month.
I personally think it's a good coin to keep for the next 6 months or even more.
